General Discussion / Re: My internet is so slow its getting dangerous.

I'd give my right arm for internet faster than 56k. Living in a rural area has it's perks, but internet is not one of them.

As for your internet problem, how is it set up? Sounds like there is an issue between your router and your computer if the other computers are unaffected. I'd check that first.

Had to buy and install a new Power Box-thingy for my computer today. Had a neighbors house catch on fire and take out the neighborhoods power. According to my Brother, some dude came by the house to get it back online, and apparently he missed the "Turn off the Feed to the House before you screw with the Meter" day of school. The house power was shut off and  snapped back on no less than 8 times, ruining a television, a fridge, and nearly ruining my new computer.

Seeing if I can't get Insurance to take care of things, but if it's my brothers word against this guys, he might be able to say the fire taking out the electricity was what did it.

Coming this Fall: Dwarf Fortress II: The Movie!

Cinematic Genius Uwe Boll takes us to Modern Day Scotland, at a small unmanned fort. The Captain of the Fortress, Kirk, and his group of 20 soldiers of all races, creeds, and genders must face the predations of a race of small bearded mutant creatures erupting from the earth with a taste for human flesh. Will he be able to protect his fortress from these Dwarves!?

No, No. Just making an off-kilter joke based on that second quote.

What about overall happiness? If slaughtering an innocent would bring happiness to everyone in the world that no other action could, would it be the right thing to do?
For this question, i will use an example. Lets say that this innocent is believed by all the citizens of a village to be a witch, including you. (This village is for arguments sake the entire world.) In your opinion, it is right and everyone else but the person believed to be a witch believes it is the right thing to do. If you kill her, it would have been the right thing to do, according to everyone in the world and you.

Why does everyone, including me think this "innocent" to be a witch? How much happiness will this really bring the world? I mean was it the death of Hitler that brought that world happiness, or was it the satisfaction that his very real threat was at an end? If this innocent never was a threat to the world, where is the happiness?

If we're going to use an example to prove that morality isn't easily defined then using a Two Dimensional example is a bad idea.

Back on Topic:
The last 3 episodes aren't suppose to be deep. They literally ran out of money and had to work with what they had. Then Eva got big, now you have the (far better) movie remakes coming out.
I always thought Eva was a fun watch though. I was always amused that Shinji was the embodiment of the Female Protagonist in anime at the time, while Asuka acted like the fireyheaded male lead, and Rei acted like the Stoic male lead.

Sadly that ad was probably more fun to play with than Evony itself.

You can't just set definitions of good and evil, as they change from person to person.

I don't see why not. It happens every day in real life. And that craps way more morally grey than Code Geass or DnD.

If you're killing or otherwise injuring innocent people even in the hopes of stopping a greater evil, it still doesn't count as good.

For instance, if a Lawful Good Paladin was forced to choose between killing a child or letting 1000 people die. He would ~always~ choose to try and save the child, and the people.

What do you mean by "Crusading"? If your talking about fighting evil, that would be more along the lines of Good. People like to think that Lawful translates as "More Good", but just being lawful doesn't mean you aren't capable of tremendous acts of evil.

For instance, you have the Devil's of the DnD universe. A Lawful Evil force that involves rigid hierarchy, a cut throat system of "Promotions" that allow Demons to rise up the ladder through the number of souls they take and finding loopholes in the system to quickly move up. They take souls through deals with mortals via contracts that always have a hidden clause that allows the demon to come out on top.

Being Loyal or Trustworthy fall more under Lawful Good. Lawful evil explores the ways strict laws can do more harm than good.

Lelouch is unquestionably Chaotic. Being lawful on the DnD scale requires you either: follow the law, follow a strong moral code that guides your actions, and/or be absolutely true to your word at all times. And to do the things above even when it isn't beneficial for you to do so.

Yeah, the DnD is a little cliche and has some flaws. If you want a ~perfect~ Alignment system you'll want this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

For instance, I'd peg Lelouche as a Batman and Sukaku as a Raynor-Taft

If you treat the law\chaos + good\evil axis as a continuous scale, rather than discrete points, and remember that in this context 'good' means 'helps others' and 'evil' means 'selfish\harms others' then it actually works really well.

Then why not just use the DnD 4.0 alignment scale? It's a strait line from Lawful good to Chaotic Evil. With Chaotic Good, Lawful Neutral and Chaotic Neutral and Lawful Evil all taken out of the mix.

In my opinion, if they have the choice to kill or spare, and they kill, they are bad.
Yeah, that makes sense.  Even if sometimes, just sometimes, you wish the hero would overcome this moral dilemna, kill the villain and end it.
Here's a moral dilemma, if he spares the villain, and the villain kills again, doesn't that make the Hero partially responsible for those deaths? I mean, he could have prevented them in the future had he killed the villain, but he was too scared to get his hands dirty. And I mean, it's not like he didn't know the villain was capable of it.
