So far, I have an almost solid grasp of Hiragana, but Katakana just beats my head in trying to remember it. And they're just the same thing with different characters, so it's especially maddening in that regard. I heard Kanji has something like 1000 characters, and that Japanese kids need to know them in order to graduate middle school. That's a scary scary thought.
Something that helped me was associating the abstract forms with real objects.  Ka in Katakana kinda looks like the tip of a katana, for example.  And for Na, kinda reminded me of a stylized flying gnat (gNAt).

That took about 30-40 minutes in Paint. I think I need to practice more. I'm having a hard time telling whether it's a girl or not(it is).
I'd say that's a pretty good start, nice job :)  For the woman/man problem, check out some FF6 sprite sheets, specifically Edgar and Terra.  Look close, and note the subtle visual cues in their pixelated forms that make your brain go "DAT'S WOMAN" and "DAT'S MAN" despite the fact they're so small.

There's a handful of 5-action cards, but they do give nice expensive stuff.

After a lot of grinding, I finally got 400 echos to spend on a new gun to finish a storylet.  I should be ready to get to Polythyreme soon.  I also made a Zubmarine ^_^

Had a big turn-around game.  We were getting pwned in every lane until about 20 minutes, then suddenly my teammates start screaming PUSH MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  Next thing I know, we've downed two towers and won a team fight o_O  My team suddenly decided I was now the AP carry (Anivia) and their entire goal in each fight would be to keep me fed and alive.  We preceded to bully the other team to the base, winning team fight after team fight.  Every time I went back to base, I had thousands of gold to spend.  By the time we had them down to their nexus, I had 600+ AP and was pulling off lolbonk types of nuke in people's faces.  We won.

Made my night.

If you want to be diplomatic, get in touch with your friend for clarification, explaining that he wouldn't stop repeating himself and didn't seem to be willing to say something plainly, and you're just trying to make sure you're doing what they want.
Agreed.

Slashdot writes:

""Adobe has posted a security bulletin for Photoshop CS5 for Windows and OSX. It seems there is a critical security hole that will allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the user running the affected application. Adobe's fix? You need to pay to upgrade to Photoshop CS6. For users who cannot upgrade to Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe recommends users follow security best practices and exercise caution when opening files from unknown or untrusted sources."
Found another source, has more information.
Apparently, Adobe was aware of this security hole since last year and didn't announce it until CS6 was out for a few weeks.

So that's what I've been doing wrong!  I've been stabbing this corpse while chanting The Black Sacrament all this time.  Oh wait that's for the Dark Br--

or do it with a judge.
I somehow read this out of context and giggled :3

I made myself sad today.  Had plenty of time to do homework, chose to play games all day instead.  Why do I keep doing this to myself?  Do I like the immediate pleasure of video games more than the long lasting pleasure of studying, doing work that actually will lead to a better life?  I just don't get myself sometimes.

Gay friend posts status where he's happy about Obama supporting gay marriage.

His stepsister posts some generic "god hates gay marriage, you'll have to answer for this in the next life" stuff and cites a Bible verse.

I post that 1 Timothy 2: 12 says a woman shouldn't teach a man and ask her why she's trying to teach a man and not being quiet.

Her response: "He's not much of a man."

Respond with "still more man than you'll ever be."  DO EEET!

Other Games / Re: Ragnarok

I used to play it a lot a while back.  They've made a lot of changes over the years, but they still have some of the same annoying bugs.  Remember how your character flinches and stops moving if they get hit while walking, but the server and your computer disagree on where your character actually is?  So your character ends up slingshotting back and forth across your screen as you run?  Yeah they never fixed that.

I guess I'm bitter about Ragnarok, I had lots of happy memories there but too much changed too soon and I got tired of it :/

A dark sci fi show doesn't sound very marketable, so they might be playing up minor parts to appeal to a larger audience.
I dunno, sounds like they're promoting Aliens Prometheus just fine.

I'll admit the title "Dark Shadows" seemed really weird for a comedy.  I have no foreknowledge of the Dark Shadows series.  Does the movie really rip off the show?  I wonder why they couldn't just call the movie something else...

Thanks! :)  Just posting to show I'm still around, some stuff came up so I'm not sure when I'll post again next.  Maybe this weekend, ugh.

I so hate my life right now.  I met up with my group members today about the game we're working on, and it's like they went totally insane.  I was working with a partner on things like time period, setting, and stuff like that, and as we started to explain what we came up with everyone else flipped out.  I honestly couldn't figure out what they were trying to say, or what was wrong.  The best I could figure out is they already had an idea of what they wanted the game to be like.  And they lost it because we came up with something slightly different.  Add in the usual ADHD our group suffers from, and our meeting went very bad fast.

To make things worse, the bill for next quarter's tuition came in, and my tuition has tripled.  If my financial aid got turned off by the government, then this might be my last quarter at this school.

Are gay bars really that great?  I've never been, way too nervous I guess.
