I gotta say the rotting corpse as a god is epic.

Gotta agree there. First death god I saw who looks like he was merciful. The rest are all torture, or deformity, or disease. Not that guy, he's about release from pain and consoling those left behind.

Also, I can't remember the name of my favorite... but I think he looked like a Dragon... and war was one of his aspects... OH YEAH! AND RAINBOWS! I thought it odd at the time o_O

ya, COULD just not breach the wall a second time?

how soon after opening the HFS do they spawn? it might be possible with a large enough supply of obsidian for him to seal the entire area in with a construction.

edit: Also, remember. You have to be able to get enough adamantium for 1 statue of each of the gods by the end. Once all the main temples are done we have to make a big CENTRAL temple.

Wait a sec... if dwarves will only train with guys of the same weapon type, why in God's name were my wrestlers fighting with my macedwarves? And turning them back into wrestlers?

You COULD have him become a mason too and build a wall, then activate him as a fighter. He's a legendary miner, he can probably take some demons down when he's activated as an unarmed military.

Basically, seal him in, place a dump 1 square away to move the excess adamantium into, make sure he has some spare obsidian, restrict the hallway as he's building, and he'll seal himself in with the demons and go down with amazing prowess. It'll also tell you what kind of demons will spawn.

Dude, if you are opening up the HFS and dooming this fort, that is REAAAAALLY low. Especially since it means he can't be buried after wards. But hey, it's your call.

Just saying. If this falls apart, save scum it alright. Dooming the fort on your second turn is insanity :3 Though I do give you bonus points on creative killing :P

Well then....... can only the temple builder work on said temple or can all dwarves in the fort work on it.  And is the quests at the beginning necessary to survival, cause I have nothing to allow me to view a statue.

1) EVERYONE CAN HELP! Temple Builder is the title for the guy IN CHARGE of the project. You name your character that. And change the name of the previous one to Retired Temple Builder.

2) No, the quests at the beginning are not necessary. But succeeding at them gets you bonus heart points and I'll figure out something else to give ya/allow you to do if you succeed at them. The ones under the gods are more suggestions and brain boosters, not quests.

Well, here's the thing. So that you can keep those alive who EARNED it, you need to make the inside either totally self sufficent, or have a back entry that you close up once caravans and migrants arrive.

Also, this makes for an AWESOME adventurer place once you abandon :3

When I set my doors to tightly shut (to close down pet traffic) will this also bar pets like, for example, my assigned war dog and hunting dog population? Which I'd prefer to let about it's business.

I'm basically trying to force my stray cats and kittens stay indoors (rather than taking strangely circutous paths across the entire map, without so much as the advantage of ANY of them being eaten by wolves or something -_-;) so they can be caught and put in a cage/slaughtered. Will this also prevent my wardogs and such from getting outside as well?

I checked, and I'm wondering if it WAS because of production... because thinking back I was more worried about just expanding my fort than making it pretty or building stuff (besides food)...

Of course... if they don't come THIS year, the year I made something like 5 artifacts (I have yet to lose a dwarf over madness due to lack of materials or workshops :3) I think something is definitely wrong. We'll see by the end of this year ehn?

Some of this stuff is probably going in with the intriguingly named Fire and Lighting Arc, some of it will have to wait for version 3 and the Advanced Astrophysics and Space Flight Arc, and the rest of it will be left for the Particle Physics and Basic Quantum Mechanics Arc.

You mean where the space ship megaproject becomes (actually launch it into orbit and fight space goblins?)

DF Gameplay Questions / Where are the Invasions?!

Okay. Now I'm getting a bit creeped out... I turned off invasions for a while while doing a special fort. I've checked and double checked, and the init file definitely says YES next to invasions. But It's been 2 full years now and no invasions of ANY kind. Not even thieves. Any idea what's happened?

((Also worried this means my OTHER forts won't get invaded either O_O; which would really really really suck.))

Wouldn't it be awesome if you could get enough followers, and just start a fort in some place by switching out of adventurer mode? Or Taking one of your dwarves and taking control of them to go on epic adventures?

I know I want to do this with Obok, my legendary wrestler/weapons master/retired general who is STILL kicking goblin ass.
