Ok right now I have been working on the animals sprites.

I finished a good number of the new animals most of them use sprite reconfiguring of former sprites. (Used boar sprites to tweak into pigs and Rhinos just as a basic example.)

But I have also done the sprites for the Moko-sheep and Night Sparrows:



This of course is only part of the plan, there's still more to do, thus I will be busy for a while. But I thought at the very least I could give you a heads up.

Anyways, any feedback on what I can do with the other animals or sprite in paticular is always helpful. For now, I will continue my work.

Currently I have everything finally in place and got tested out world gen to make sure everything works. And currently making sure all the said features of the game work while I being working on some new plans. Which include what I have mentioned above. But now I'm also going to look into making all the different Suika sprite Catagories that are mentioned like bee keepers, ghost, ect. And then look in adding bamboo and maybe see what I can do about slabs since they share the same spot as certain hills.

Then it'll be time to work on sprites for all the different new animals as well. Which I can guess from there I'll work on the Inaba race, thier behavior, charatristics, and personality (as well as sprites).

Ok I'm about 25% done now. I've managed to transfer all the yukkuri, Suikas, and other Gensokyoians to 0.31.25.

Right now I'm busy aligning the sprites accordingly and making sure to include everything that needs to be included with in it. (Giving certain yukkuri egg laying abilities, making them become possibly enrage, ect.)

Following this will be testing to make sure everything works since I may have to look back a few times since I need to make sure Biokkuri and Yukkudaiyouseis can live through world gen.

Then from there, I'll be working on adding in all the new creatures I planned to add. I'm also considering some PC-98 charaters to be yukkurified as well.

Course also let's not forget, that I also need to add some actual Touhou charaters in to become possible night creatures.....

So yeah I still got a full plate, but at least I'm making some headway.

Another question popped into my mind.

Egg-laying!

I forgot that we now have creatures that can lay eggs.

So this sparks up another question:

Should I consider give certain Yukkuri the ability to lay eggs?

It might make sense for some, but I though I'd ask since some other would seem odd.

But I my idea was to consider most Avian based Touhou yukkuri (Aya, Hatate, Mystia) and Frog based (Suwako), and Snake types (Kanako)

But of course this may be odd, but because the yukkuri flan takes place of the giant eagle...I was curious if it should lay eggs too. If so I'll also consider having the remillia yukkuri to do the same as well...

I suppose if there's a way to do it through the raws. I haven't checked if there's a way to give them other food as feed.

Anyways.... I'm know I've been out of the woods since the animals drive that occured in winter, but I'm impressed with the new animal line-up especially in the domestic lineup. That I'm looking at right now.

Right now I'm trying to figure out which critters will get a face lift and which ones won't.

So far, I've only looked over birds and the domestic list, but here's an idea I'm thinking of.

Course this is just the tip of the iceburg, but I got some planning to do here. :P And of course if there are any ideas that you can think of the I can replace certain animals with other critters from the world of Gensokyo, go ahead and let me know.

Some critters I'm planning to put into this for the next updates are faries, FOEs, Myons, ghost faries, hell cats and Hell ravens, just to name a few.

Oh, I'm looking forward to the next release.  I don't know anything about Touhou, but I need me some more eastern fantasy to go with the Osmen I've appropriated from Deon's Genesis Mod.

Well Touhou is a game series made by a single man (and also a drunk) named ZUN. The game series, is mainly a overhead shooter (like Raiden, Ikaruga and the like) except without the planes, and with girls, dodging massive loads of bullets.) And yeah it's pretty much influence by old eastern culture.

Anyways, here's what I can report for the time being.

I'm currently transffering everything I made into the new version. It's going to take some time, because I want to make sure alot of the yukkuri will have their new features that have been added.

But this does spark in an interesting question though...

Since we know yukkuri make up the live stock for the Suikas. :P I was curious, how many of them should be grazers? Some reason I want to make nearly all of them (except for the more notable cannabils like the Rumia yukkuri for example.)

Also how many should I consider having a beserk button? The Yukka yukkuri seems like a good canidate.

Thought and opinions would be much appricated as I work carefully on transfering everything to 0.31.24.

Back from the dead people! I have been rather busy over the last few months, but I think I'm starting to get my confidents back.

Anyways... with the current bugs that have been sorted out with Suika Fortress and all the new features I'm going to have to look very carefully at what I have to plan.

Cause orginally I had Bamboo set to be a tree but that's obsoleete now that it's a grass. I'm going to have to look through everything in the newer versions so that I can see how I'm going to include the Inaba race. As well as some of the other things I promised. Than there's also all the new animals that have been thrown into the mix too... And the night creatures I'm considering modding in. Alot's on this plate this time. So it could be a while.

But this project is definetly not dead.

Something about the licsensing rights since he uses the new compiler I'm not sure about that one.

Have your tried a program called "Crossover"? It's what I use to play DF through my mac. It's a wine based program, but it works fine for me.

If that doesn't work for you, I'll dig around and see if I have my old vanilla of .12 somewhere.

Your problem is that it's a 10.4.11. (AKA Tiger)

Despite the fact that Toady did the changes with the complier for DF that it now uses intel based mac, he didn't know that it would hate older OS systems (Tiger and Leopard). So your best bet if you want to play the newest version of DF is to either:

1. Resort to Wine and run the PC version of DF through wine.

or

2. Upgrade to Snow Leopard (though there may be a possiblity that might not work either)

or

3. Play DF 0.31.12 if you can find it.

Shame Toady hasn't fixed the issue. But chances are the new compiler for the mac can't be fixed to work with anything below Snow Leopard. :P

Mac user here. Actually it's been since 0.31.13.


When Toady moved to the new compiler starting in 0.31.13, Mac users have been having alot of complications. Those that use Tiger and Snow Leopard in paticular. The new compiler hates those OSs it seems.

Your only chance is to find a mac version of 0.31.12.... or use wine if you want to play DF now.

Toady is still trying to solve this problem, but there's no idea when or even if this'll be resolved.

And yes, I now had to switch back to Crossover thanks to the complications I suffered with the new version. So don't be afraid to use wine. It's going to likely be needed now with the new versions. (and yes this'll mean downloading the PC version of DF)

Is it possible to use the Suikas in a vanilla game? That is without changing everything to -kurris and kappas. I just thought it would be hilarious to imagine a Suika Fortress building up with Goblins attacking and stuff.

Something like that would be very simple to accomplish. Depending on how vanilla you want it. (like from the original or Mike Mayday's version.) You could simply take the raws of the Suikas' and replace the Dwarves' in the creature_standard.

If you want graphics with it you'd have to probably replace the graphics of the dwarves with my file with Suikas and possibly rename.

Other than that, for extra flavor, you may want to go through entity_default and make sure your Suika units are named properly like you know "swordssuika" and "Spearsuika". That would be about all the change you'd need to do with it.

Mmmm.... well I never seem to have an issue with them, but just to ask, are these ._DS files causing any sort or problem?

As for right now I'm running through the terminal removing every .DS_store I can find.. and will post a non ._DS version shortly.

ok non _DS version up. Let me know if there are still any problems that come up... I'm keeping the orginal as a back up if there's any real problems that come with this...

your frontpage link is fine, but that url there is the link to the submit screen for it, and gives the "you don't have permission to do this" message.
Also could you please include a .bat file or something to erase every ._DS file.
also the above file says it's for 31.12, and the file is "Suika Fortress 0.31.12 win.zip". Is this a lack of edits to the DFFD page or the wrong link?

Also .bat file to erase ._DS files? I'm not sure what your talking about here since I don't handle those kinds of files. ^^;

Anyways, let me know if there are any other complications.

My current focus after I get some free time will be to continue trying to see what I can do about "myons" and ghost faires. Then likely follow up with working on some of the Inaba race's behavior and characteristics.

Course this may change rather quickly since I now know that the next installment will contain "Night Creatures" which means I may actually turn my focus on making some actual youkai Touhou charaters in the game after this upcoming release.
