If there is some kind of limited trial it is only for the subscriber (blue) oceans.

The green doubloon oceans are all free to play forever with a currency that has its own market (I've actually been margin trading doubloons for PoE for incredibly small profit). You can buy doubloons with real money, but everything can be done purely in game.

So are we going to work to a Bay12 ship?

Aye.

To expand on this I posted earlier a summary of how much money we will need, but we are working towards buying a sloop and the captain badge we need to start a crew. I'm getting all of the skills needed to be a captain up to where they need to be so no one else has to deal with a puzzle they do not like. Should be roughly 60ish doubloons total or about 105,000 PoE as Hitty40 calculated. Between about 10 people we'd only need 10k each so it will not be that hard to get.

How would you guys like to handle donations for this? Should I hold onto it for us or would everyone just like to keep a tally of how much they have?

Anyone who needs to get to Admiral island get in contact with me, I managed to get there with hitty40's help and I can whisk anyone here who needs it.

I know me and hitty40 got the house invite to work without being hearties, so some bug may have been going on then...

Also thanks for the tip quinnr! I'll have to do that.

Thanks for the server hitty40, added information on how to get there to the OP.

Also just confirmed that you 'can' invite people from anywhere in the ocean to your house. So if someone has a house on Admiral Island please invite Denzi, I'll send invites out to anyone else who needs them then.

You could probably check out where the ship is heading if you access the navigation duty station and view the course, but there is no real way to know until you actually get on the boat (Myself, I'm practicing some navigation with the navy while trying to get to Admiral island)

For the sake of convenience I suggest everyone starts migrating to Admiral Island and start setting it as their home. It is the biggest island I've seen so far so it ought to have everything we will need. Might take you a voyage or two to get there (The navy might be a help in that, not to mention it'll help you get back into the swing of things)

I just totaled up some prices and it looks like if we could get a good 60 doubloons together between all of us we should be able to afford a sloop and a crew. (20 for the captain badge, 20 to deliver the sloop, 3 for the sloop proper, 10 more to create the crew, and 7 for misc expenses, perhaps an officer badge so we can have a second person who is active around to run the ship)

I've been playing the game for less than 2 days and I'm already at 7 doubloons myself, so with 10+ of us it'd take no time at all to get a crew saved up.

Edit: Just though of something, it is not exactly obvious how you change your home. I believe you have to go to the local inn and click 'set home' under one of the tabs. Only works if you are actually inside the inn though.

Not too sure, I do know that voice chat can make any game a bit more enjoyable, something about socializing...

I gotta go afk and do some dishes, but I'll be sure to make it quick so I can try to get more of this going... I'm back

If someone is savy enough to set up an IRC room that'd probably help out, would not be hard to set everyone up with mibbit or something so they can partake.

Just a note, doing a /who on both 'Roboboy' and 'Malthyr' is turning up a 'Failed to obtain player info' error. I am not entirely sure what this means but I'd assume it means you are not on sage (Just triple checked and I'm on sage and talking with Captainsonic atm)

Are you sure you are on Sage Roboboy? I keep trying to send you a tell and it says you are not online.

Edit: For reference, the inn I am at on Scrimshaw Island is 'The Bermuda Triangle'

Modified the first post, if you see a question mark anywhere associated with you that means I did not see your pirate name or which ocean you were on specifically. Send me a message on steam, in game, or post here if you want to correct me.

Sounds like sage is the winner so far, think we have only had one person on a non-sage ocean so far...

If you guys want, send me a message in game or on steam (Denzi312 on steam)

I'm currently based out of Scrimshaw Island hanging out in the Inn (though that may change, I'm off and on attempting to learn how to do the navigation duty puzzle to prep me for owning a ship)

Give me a few minutes here and I'll try to update the first post with names and the like

None of the JA series is free on GoG.com, but if you do not have a GoG.com account I Strongly recommend getting one for your situation. There several free games on there that fit your required situation (Downloaded old-school games)

Specifially they have
--
Beneath a Steel Sky
Lure of the Tempress
Teen Agent
Tryian 2000
Ultima 4
Dragonsphere

all of them are free and should run without any work on windows 7, it'll say on the store page what they are most recently updated to. Probably all of them come with a packaged copy of DosBox to make it so you really only need to use the shortcut it installs to get it running just fine.

Edit: If you do make a new account I'm not sure if these will show up naturally on your account page or not, if they do not just do a search for them and click 'download' they'll appear on your account page then.
