Mmm.  Smells delicious.  Smells like . . . victory.  And severed limbs.

Randomly looking at Wikipedia, it seems that tsunami wave height is not necessarily correlated with earthquake size . . . you can get pretty tall tsunamis even from fairly small quakes (at least compared to 9.0 monsters like the Tohoku earthquake).  I am thus changing my recommendation of a higher seawall for the generators to some sort of waterproof, tsunami-resistant building that can be opened after the tsunami has receded (it has to be openable since the generators need air to run, but they don't necessarily need to be running right after the tsunami hits . . . the batteries can hold out for a few hours).

Perhaps.  But the UN resolution says we'll defend unarmed civilians; once they pick up weapons they are responsible for their own defense.

Learning how to use said weapons to effectively defend yourself is likely recommended.

Check if they have weapons?  I didn't say it was easy.  The rebels who do have weapons can take care of themselves.

I think we're on the side of the civilians, who don't want to be blown up.  The doctrine basically goes "you see a tank pointing its main gun towards unarmed civilians, it gets blown up," with a few caveats that you are supposed to minimize civilian casualties.  Theoretically if the rebels started attacking civilians we'd destroy them too; fortunately they aren't stupid.

How are things going?  The rebels need a few months to make themselves into something like a proper military rather than a bunch of admittedly enthusiastic teenagers and a few proper soldiers, but they'll get there eventually.  They are also getting weapons and supplies from various countries.  I think they'll win, but it could take a bit.  I'd say a few months, maybe a bit longer.

Well, right now they're mostly just going "Hey, look over there!" to the ground teams, who do the actual arresting.  I'm not sure if they really need weapons, to be honest.  Missiles are expensive, and the drones themselves cost enough already.

Though, I wonder if down the line... the US will find a reason to also Drone Strike Mexico in the 'War on Drugs'....

We've got some unarmed (at least I think they're unarmed?) drones doing border surveillance.  They work quite well.

Clearly they should simply rebuild with 20 30 (can't be too careful) meter high walls.  That ought to fix the problem.

I swore I had read that several groups had done interviews with the tribal people actually living in the area targeted by the drone strikes that indicated that they were remarkably okay with them, and after looking around I managed to find it.  It's in the Wikipedia article on drone attacks in Pakistan, and it does come with reasonably credible-sounding sources.  I find this interesting in combination with the official Pakistani government's opinion on the drone strikes.  I would not be surprised to find that the Pakistani government were overblowing things in an effort to gain more political clout, like basically every national government anywhere.

I wish this sort of thing could be less of a clusterfuck, but . . . ehhh.  Maybe we should work more on tiny, ludicrously precise missiles.  Then the problem becomes figuring out who you want dead, which isn't going to stop being a problem anytime soon.

The problem was that nuclear power plants require constant cooling.  When the earthquake hit, the automatic shutdown systems kicked in nigh instantly.  The problem is that this only reduces the heat output of the reactor core to ~6-10% of its initial heat output, due to residual heat output from unstable fission products decaying, and when the initial heat output was in the gigawatt range that's still a lot of heat.  Since you've obviously shut down the reactor at this point, you can't let it power its own cooling systems like it normally does.  They had diesel generators which were supposed to power the cooling systems in the event of such an emergency.  Unfortunately, the tsunami got to them and completely disabled them (internal combustion engines/electrical systems really, really hate saltwater).  There were also some batteries as a secondary backup, but those only lasted a few hours (ideally, you were supposed to fly in portable generators before those ran out).  Sadly, that didn't happen, and we ended up in this whole fiasco of desperately trying to prevent the reactor cores from retaining enough heat to transform themselves into radioactive lava.

The intriguing thought is that if the diesel generators had been better protected, this never would have been such a problem.

Basically, if you hit every time with a hammer, it works well, but as soon as they start dodging or blocking with shields it becomes weaker to things like battleaxes where a single good hit can cause massive blood loss, vs the minor to moderate damage and crippling you get from a hammer strike.

I just did a quick test on adamantine battle axes vs silver warhammers with both groups in full steel armor.  With both groups untrained, the axes won 83-17, but with both groups Grand Master Fighter/Weapon User the warhammers won 72-28.

Hmm . . .  further testing shows that with Grand Master Fighter/Weapon User and unarmored fighters, silver warhammers beat adamantine axes 73-27.  Steel warhammers win 72-28.  This is odd, I remember axes winning.

Ahhh.  Giving them shields and Grand Master Fighter/Weapon User/Shield User leaves the adamantine axes winning 97-3.  It seems that the extra time you get from shields helps the battleaxe users stall long enough for their enemies to bleed out.  Grand Master Dodger has a similar effect.  Given that Danger Rooms train both dodging and shield use very effectively, it seems that axes are the way to go for these super soldiers.

Adamantine axes work great against any armor short of adamantine (including steel armor), and the severs are lovely for killing enemies quickly.  Given that enemies currently don't have access to adamantine armor, adamantine axes are probably the way to go.

Spears are nice for an adventurer facing large targets that are hard to sever body parts from, since you can aim for the heart/brain for a quick kill, but they aren't very good for the AI, which tends to just stab random body parts until the enemy stops moving.  Spears also definitely get stuck more often.  Swords are intermediate between the two, since they can either slash or stab, but for AI combatants I really prefer axes.

I've noticed that if one "pushes" oneself hard on the travel screen (say walking for quite a time while drowsy to get somewhere before sleeping) it can take more than one day of sleep before the drowsiness wears off.  Spending 1-2 extra days sleeping in the same spot usually seemed to fix it.
