"John Lennon Cancels Drugs: Taken by a strange mood!"
"John Lennon has claimed a Writing Desk!"
"John Lennon has created Yellow Submarine, an artifact song!"

I burnt the entire ****ing world to the ground and so far they don't seem to mind. So I've turned to magma-izing all of their caravans.

That would be because trees don't burn.

2.  Drop them from long bridges.  Two or three z-levels will usually produce some injuries and a nice stun while your dwarves finish them off.

Seven to ten Z-levels will lead to lots of them dying.

Just putting that out there.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: I committed SCIENCE!
« on: November 24, 2009, 05:29:16 am »
I once indulged my taste for science. I decided to investigate the distance an Orc could fall before it died, using a bridge that dropped them between 1 and 9 storeys. 6 storeys down and they could die, could live. Above that, minor injuries. Below that, all dead.

Then I flooded it to kill as many of the survivors as possible, and got bored before the water reached the two surviving mace-orcs five storeys down, teaching me to always use a pump to fill the drowning chamber.

I love this game.

Funny how there's always someone to force you to explain every detail on the forum.

What exactly do you mean by "funny?"

My suspicion:
"When it happens to you instead of me."

If you've got a hallway indoors that is three or four tiles wide, you can pave some of it with metal bars and boost your road significantly with little effort.  After the king arrives you can pull that back up and get your metal bars back.

...I'm using this next time.

For the mercy of Armok, it's like this game is training you to be a dictator who kills for his own amusement. I see a lot of dark threads like this, especially guilty is the Mermaid farmer.

You don't have to. It's just more entertaining.

I would definitely not call trade wagons innocent.

The Wagons be plotting...

Wagon #1: And soon we will overthrow those vile bearded things and force Toady to change the name of this game to Wagon Fortress!

...doesn't get racism. I mean come on they just have a different profession.
Precisely, and who has a higher mortality rate in your fortresses, cheese-makers or insert-job-here?
Cheese makers have almost zero mortality rate in my fortresses; by the time they die they're wrestlers, swordsdwarves or similar.

Exactly, it's the soap makers who die the most.

A dwarves favorite color is actually indeed red, but not for magma, but for the blood of the thousands of invaders that run into pools and rivers, daring for that next person to come...

Let's face it, they're agents of Armok, God of Blood. And they regularly go kill-crazy. A fondness for red is only to be expected.

I once had a trade liaison turn up missing a leg. He went crazy when he stumbled into a cage trap.

Then Orcs turned up and killed everyone.

Good times.

Speaking of wagons...if I were to say...attack the human caravan or destroy it in some way, would that likely get them to siege me?  I have had my first ever siege and it was pretty puny.  The 15 or so goblins came in, lost about 5-8 ish, and then ran off without ever a worry.  I want to killz moar!

You take out a few caravans, and yes, you do get sieges. The caravan loot increases your fort value, so you get more goblins turning up. It's Fun for the whole family.

A huge statue of a two-headed eagle. [This may require importing gold]

...Yes, I'm a 40K nerd.

The next megaproject is going to be a gigantic bottle made out of green glass. I will pump a large amount of magma in through the neck of the bottle. It will look like Armok dropped a bottle of booze from the sky.

Ok, THAT? That is awesome.
