I read it was "Dumb attacker" I dont know where people are getting "Doom attacker" from  ::)
They're wrestlers after all.

Speaking of babyshields, one of them just had a baby.

a minor request which I doubt will be answered.

Would my slingshots be allowed as available weapons? They are generally weaker than crossbows, but are still very effective.

I usually limit them to being made out of wood, as it is my kobold camp weapon of choice. (The gore damage can be explained as snapping the band at the enemy)

[ITEM_WEAPON:ITEM_WEAPON_SLINGSHOT]
[NAME:slingshot:slingshots]
[DAMAGE:85:GORE]

[DAMAGE:20:BLUNT]

this is my wrestling champion squad, as I'm on a map with very little means of making weapons other than cross bows and need tight quarters defense.

"The Rough Champions" What a suitable name! and LOOK! Even better. Try to pronounce the name in Dwarven.  :D

Well, there's Starcraft II out soon, and its editor is much more awesome. I will definitely buy it :P.
Starcraft 2's editor will be the main reason I buy SC2, I wasnt a super huge fan of starcraft.  ;)

I'm personally wondering what sort of crazy improvements Sc2's editor will have compared to wc3's which has such an amazing ammount of flexibility already.  :o
edit:
I looked it up, and goddamn. http://alby13.blogspot.com/2009/08/battlenet-20-revealed-sc2-editor-vid.html

. . . Why was there a chain next to that bed?
Never mind, don't tell me.  Still awesome that you can do that, though.

"During the creation of this film, 37 kobolds were harmed," though, I laughed at.

Sometimes dwarves just dont know any better than to listen to doctors orders.  :D

those cameras look promising, although honestly I always find first person camera's in wc3 make me kinda sick from all the spinning they do in combat.  :o
Is there a way to counteract that? perhaps following a dummy unit which is stuck to the character.

Deon I cant help but find it strange that you seem to have a price value for steel ore, while there is no such thing as steel ore.
I think somebody got a little carried away. [:

By the way deon it turns out that my old random map generator cant even be played since the update  ::)

I guess its a good thing I'm making a new one.

You just want randomly organized areas? Thats not quite what mine does, mine does the maps terrain for you each game.  ;)

I can of course always try to find a way to do the caves in this way, but if you just want to randomize rubble placement and all that, thats super duper easy.  ::)

Lag problems = leaks I suppose, and they should be fixable :P.

I would actually love randomly generated caves and towns, so if you could help with it, it would be awesome :D.

And well, which kind of help do you want to offer?

Did you code AI or scripts for enemy units' movement? Because these I need most, for clever ambushes and sieges.

Yeah, I know they were fixable, but by the time I found out that the problems were there I had far too many triggers to fix without going crazy  :D (I am actually working on a completely redone version now, but am unsure if the caves would even be possible via triggers.)

I have not coded ai or enemy unit scripts, but it shouldnt be too awefully difficult.

edit: I was going to put the old one up for you to see but unless you use the editor I was using you wouldnt be able to. I dont recall the name but I think it was something like Jass Newgen.

Deon I want to help. [:
I used to do a lot of Wc3 map making although I've never released anything.  ::)

I actually made a random terrain generator, and it made beautiful maps, but it always had lag problems later on in games. (I was using it for a wilderness survival map I have since put on hold)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: "So it's like The Sims?" she asked.
« on: February 20, 2010, 01:24:19 pm »
I like DF not because it allows me to build things but how it goes about doing it.

In some roman city-building sim you may be able to build the "aqueduct" building and if you build enough between the river and your city, you get "water supply enabled". Check.

In DF there is no aqeduct building. If you build windmill-powered pump works attached to an overland channel on high pillars or dig a subterranean channel to the river, you invented the aqueduct.
Or a subterranean version of the Niagara falls. Or a fortress literally cast from magma. Or a computer powered by... cats.

But how do you describe the ability to engineer for real?
Design and build dams, power plants, plumbing, and traps that would never make it past the geneva convention?

I know for a fact that a lot of people are just not compatible with that way of thinking. On a recent trade show some company was handing out small metal boxes with sweets or whatever.
They had an obvious lid but no handle or device for removing it. There were a lot of people simply... staring at theirs. And that was not an effective way of opening them.
So looked at it. No handle. Round. No obvious way to apply pull or torque.
Remaining option: pressure. Press on lid.
Box opens.

DF is totally compatible with the engineer way of thinking. You use simple elements like gears or pumps to direct force, flow, or pressure.
The results can be amazing, terrifying, or worst case... fun.

To me, DF is what LEGOs will be when they grow up.
I know the trade show you're talking about, my stepdad was at one just like that sometime in the past year or so.
Little metal container of mints. He kept the container because he thought it was cool.

He actually ripped a finger nail off by trying to pry open the sides.  :D

I've looked around the site but I cant find anything that even remotely hints at what this is. So, uh, what is this?  :P

Minecraft, but not as good, and finished.

Also, yes I know Minecraft was inspired by this.
ALSO ALSO, installin'
This is also a game where you compete instead of just troll peoples artwork as well.  ;)
Minecraft is essentially this game, with all goals removed, and a block cloning hack put into it.  ::)

Since all the other threads are from around last may or farther back, I've decided to bring up this little gem again to you, my friends at Bay12.

Also, would anyone like to play? I'd put up the dedicated server myself but this connection here has a long laster case of the synchronous diaphragmatic flutters (hiccups)
