I think that he meant that he dug a magma containment facility on top of / adjacent to / partially overlapping a magma pipe, and pumped magma from the pipe into the containment facility, but it kept flowing back in to the pipe.

I like the basic poetic justice idea. This is a very specific crime, so it merits a very specific punishment.

Carve a turtle-shaped prison for him. Preferably out of turtle/fish bones. Periodically toss in tallow and lye (and food) and have him make soap for the rest of his life. Or rock blocks. Something menial. Have him dump out the results into a collection chamber underneath the prison so you can get the stuff back.

It would take a small amount of micromanagement to dump and reclaim the stuff if you want to have him keep working the rest of his life, or you could just leave him in his turtle prison.

I've been trying to make GCS visible at embark, but I've been having difficulties. I removed the [AMBUSHPREDATOR] tag from GCS, but now I don't even see GCS webs anywhere (could be a coincidence: maybe I just haven't searched enough maps). What should I do?

(edit: found a few giant webs, but no spiders)

300 is not at all the limit for dwarven happiness. Dwarf Therapist will confirm this. I've seen dwarves as happy as 3000+.

I could be wrong, but the migrants you get might be more related to how quickly your wealth is increasing than how much wealth you have. So make some more quickly.

They are dangerous ONLY if they kill a member of you civilization ON YOUR MAP.

I had a dragon who I am absolutely certain killed no one on my map, but was still untameable.

Is it possible to chain the eagle, or would just use [buildingdestroyer] to destroy its own chain?  Because having a giant skeletal eagle chained to the peak of the mountain your fortress is in would be the ultimate in badass fortress accessories.

Not completely sure about this, but I beleive that untamed animals can't practically be chained. It may be possible to assign them to a chain (can't remember) but if that happened as soon as the skeleton is let out of its cage it would scare the dwarf which is bringing it to the chain. Fun then ensues.

What if the chain is one tile away from the cage the eagle was previously in?

You could give him a small farm plot and let him feed himself, but that might defeat the purpose.
