so i'm still on the goblin transferring from before, honestly. for some reason ordering all the gobbos and trolls into a single cage has my dwarves swapping the cages out for different cages and placing the gobbo-occupied cage in the stockpile. ./annoy.
what happen? and how fix?
You Ordered entire cages into a single cage....
how on earth did i manage that? i did the same thing i've always done to order different things into cages - assign them to the cage.

what relevence does [MOUNT_EXOTIC] have? Since dungeon masters are broken I'm changing all the [PET_EXOTIC] to [PET] but what about [MOUNT_EXOTIC]?
Do I need to delete it? what difference does it make? :S
Alternatively, you could build and raise drawbridges directly up against the edges of the map, constructing floors over any map-edge ramps before doing so, to prevent anything from spawning on the surface. Build walls against the map edges in the caverns, preventing things from spawning there, either. Dump magma over, then carve fortifications into, the edges of any underground lakes so you can still get water, again without having anything able to spawn there.Yeah, but that is exploiting. Not much dwarven in it.
If you'd like caravans, allow a single 3-wide path to the map edge to be open on the surface, that leads directly down a path defined by drawbridges for 5 tiles, at which point you have a deep and heavy trap field able to take out whole sieges. You'll still need guard dogs to notice kobold thieves, but they're hardly a threat, and a small military to take out any titans or megabeasts that spawn but can't get taken out by the trap field, but that's only if you want caravans.
The only real point of vulnerability with such a setup is the magma sea. Since you can't easily turn the squares directly adjacent to the map edge into obsidian in that area (since you can't dig out map-edge stone), you can't really seal that off. Of course, FBs don't spawn down there, and most of the wild animals don't seem to take much interest in climbing up through your magma pump works, that's probably not too big a deal.
