Elite crossbow dwarf > goblin lasher > elite elven swordsman.  Simultaneous sieges are beautiful. We are definitely murdering human caravans and diplomats now.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Dodokamost: Now with extra Wars!
« on: September 12, 2014, 10:40:03 am »
Been playing since 2008 but this has somehow never come up: apparently the Fated Furnaces, my civ, is already at war with a goblin and elven civ.

So, today, a vile, green force of darkness is advancing on our silver gate, while two elven ambushes have just popped off.  I cannot wait until the two forces meet beneath our shiny new murder hole! Maybe I'll lock them in the foyer and see if they make friends!  Maybe I'll see if Elite-Dwarven-crossbowman-two-stories-up-behind-carved-fortifications > Elite elven swordsman!  Maybe today's the day to test out my new doormat of many bridges!

Best year 2 ever.  Please share if you've known the gift of multiple wars you don't even need to start.  Anyone hit the trifecta of all three races?

I am now building vaults that hold endless rows of caged undead, awaiting the zombie apocalypse.

I see no fault with this plan

I see no vault with this plan either.
It's perfectly vaultless.

Aaand nope, she crashes.  Oh well.  If it worked it wouldn't be Ardentdikes.

The game already has some issues with balance as it is.

Discuss!

I just ignored the enemy heros and captured their castle: Honestly a lot of maps boil down to this. You cannot stop enemy heros reliably.

Eureka.  I can't believe I didn't think of that: just find the local lord stronghold and take it early.  Awesome thnx!

Anyone winning with just one hero?  Is there a limit on how many you can have at one time?

Mages and Scouts in their ranged-ness seem to have an easier time initially.  I like that you can succeed with better meatshields in front of a ranged-attack badass, or just black out the sky with arrows and throw a peasant to the enemy as bait.

I love the way the Campaign is structured, I don't think I've seen anything like that in a game before.  It sort of feels like you've been pulled out of the stands at a Major League baseball game and given one at-bat, but because you're new you get 5 strikes.  Master of Orion felt like that at first too.

Another game in which Losing Is Fun.  Utterly unforgiving.   Reminds me of Wesnoth more than a bit.  Totally recommend but have no useful tips, I'm currently getting spanked on beginner mode.

Lay down first, then [>].  I spent hours trying to figure this out.

I vote the same as MrWillsauce. Skip her, but give her the first turn after she comes back.

I third it.

Another!  Start with some clothes this time maybe.
