Make this.  The shut drawbridge will keep the Titan away from your dwarves if the plan fails.  The pillar should be the only support holding up a few natural tiles of floor.  Let a single dwarf by the drawbridge and close it.  If you're feeling lucky, after mining out that last square, try to get your dwarf through and close the gate behind him.  If not, hope that the Titan is distracted enough by the dog and pillar to ignore your miner.

The idea is to get the titan to collapse the ceiling upon himself by destroying the pillar.  If you think you can get the timing right, you could try linking the pillar to a lever and manually collapsing the floor.  You could build as many chambers as you like, too, to give yourself several chances.

Thanks, Quietust.  I haven't made that change yet, because as magically as my problem appeared, it disappeared.  I'm (fairly) certain it wasn't an AV scan, and I checked task manager but couldn't find anything unusual running. 

I'm fairly puzzled.

Normally I can run a fortress at around 30 FPS with upwards of 70-80 dwarves.  Right now, I have a fortress of 21 and my framerate has dropped to the teens.  I'm playing with weather, temperature, etc off and am long-familiar with framerate maximization via d_init. 

When the game is not in focus (for instance, when I'm in the forum window) the framerate spikes back upward to 90-ish.  But even with the game paused if I bring it into focus the framerate drops dramatically fast.

What on earth is going on?

My military is in shambles, but fights on.

One marksdwarf lost his right hand.  Another lost his entire left arm. 

An axedwarf took a spinal injury in an arena match early-on, but continued to crawl around, an active member of the military, and even get additional kills.

Unfortunately he went into a fey mood while off-duty and I can't figure out what he wants.  I suspect he wants garnierite, which is just too-damn-bad because I don't have any.  He's asking for stone, metal bars, and trees.  I have plenty of stone, ingots of every type he likes (even nickel steel!), and enough logs to give every elf in existence a heart-attack.  I can only figure that he must specifically want garnierite.  Punk.

On an unrelated note, I just put in work orders to erect doors around that particular craftdwarf's workshop.

Other than that, my dwarves are still cleaning up from a 75+ goblin siege that happened an entire season ago.  As soon as that's finished, the arena games can begin.

Zaphod, you should just make another garbage dump (i) -> (g) near the prisoners you're stripping.  Remember to un-designate just the cages, and remember to turn off your riverside dump while stripping prisoners.  After everything's been "dumped" you can reclaim and do what you want with it.  It takes a little micro-managing, but I think that's the easiest way to do it.

Thank you, RAKninja.  I just looked and the dwarf in question isn't noted as being a slow healer.  He is weak, though.  I'll just keep an eye on him if he keeps living.  Can't see how he'd die, though, considering he's always just arriving at the battle as it ends.

Nil, I did exactly what the raws suggested, setting the HEALING_RATE to 2000.  My question is whether his ability to stand will ever be restored, or if the cyan nerve damage is permanent because I changed the raws after the injury happened.

I edited my raws so that nerve tissue heals at half the rate of bone, as it suggests to do in the wiki if you want spinal injuries to heal.

I have a dwarf with a lower spine.  It was a lower spine, but I guess it healed a little.  On the wounds screen, he's showing Heavy bruising on the lower spine, nervous tissue, and ability to stand lost under the Status heading.  Is that lower spine just going to take a couple years to heal, or is it basically as healed as it will get?


He's in the military and is not bedridden, just very slow.  Crawling around, I imagine.  His injury was over a year ago.

I had 3 or 4 migrant waves since I had my population cap set at 60.  I'm now closing in on 90 dorfs, my computer is pleading for Armok's mercy, and FPS is dwindling.

The game seems to be ignoring my population cap and ban on pregnancies.  I have the population cap set to 80 and both numbers related to pregnancy set to 0, but they just keep showing up.  I don't want to build an immigrant welcome chamber, but I will if I have to.  Is this a known bug, or I am I missing something?

At least my most recent wave contained a High Master Armorer.
