I once launched an orc priest into an orc child and the child was stunned.  I think thats all that happens right now, even if you drop things from Z levels onto eachother.  (If it didn't... one goblin launched into another could cause both to explode into chunks... chunks hit other goblins causing them to explode into chunks... mushroom cloud of gore?  Goblinite bomb?)

A hundred Z levels or so should come pretty close to splitting goblins into their constituent parts though.  Do it for science!

If your raws have been changed at all you might have to post them for people to be able to make it work.  I have heard stories of people genning the dwarf heaven map and getting different results becuase of Mayday graphics (or the catmouth that comes with it, probly).

You could make the walls out of drawbridges.  When raised they would be funny looking walls, and when someone pushes the button stuff gets smashed and then removed from the universe.  Otherwise I'm pretty sure walls won't move.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: World-Gen surrounded by oceans?

You could, if you increased the total number of ocean tiles (massively), and the number of edge oceans (alot) and then batch generate a stack of +maps [40]+

So basically it would be hard and time consuming and there would still be little bits of land sneaking off to the edge.

Things seem slightly less agressive for the first season or two.  On river maps priority 1 is to get a wall between us and them.  Also, turn the activity zone orders to zone only drinking.  Sometimes bored college dorfs like to experiment with water because of the way it makes them giggle and stumble around all dizzy like.  The fish trick them into jumping into the water and they overdose and die, or get eaten alive.

If you want wrestlers, try throwing the kids into an area where you can drop food in. Also, on the other side of a chamber dump some wild groundhogs or some other suitably weak animal periodically. The children will fight it, gaining wrestling experience. They should be decent by the end of 12 years.

Trying that later today good idea!  I have some injured werewolfs that should work nicely.

I would say shield.  At some point an arrow will just walk up and mangle your dorf's brain, helmet or not.  Shield is the best protection against that.  Chain and helms are good ideas too, really everything is although plate is expensive and caps are inefficient.

Weapons are unnecessary in vanilla, read Headshoots and ask HolisticDetective.  There just isn't anything that can stand up to multi-legendary steel weapon users.  If there was then weapons would be the first thing I make out of clownite.

Just sink a 3x3 stairway into the ground and build rooms coming off of that.  Anything can go anywhere.  Shorter distances make things more efficient but winding little ant tunnels are sortof more fun to make.

I bet they won't fight because they will be trying to path off your map.  Sounds like a lolzy thing to try though.

Animals don't eat, and anyway I thought they just used a piece of food at the kennel to tame an animal.  Maybe they somehow got a bag or container in there and they keep trying to put stuff in it?  I don't know, containers are horribly buggy anyway.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Immigration :\

It could take a while too, there is some lag between when it checks the population cap.  Also, immigration is odd, even without being tinkered with.

The safe way to channel is don't do it.  You say dig channel and dorfs hear kill self immediately.

Edit: Oh right, gtmattz's way is better, and you said without causing caveins  :-X

They mostly just sit around the meeting zone doing nothing.  By the time they are adults they will be legendary socializers ready for immediate military training.

Arena battle!  Scorpions vs Goblins vs Nobles vs Undead!

Having some hardcore wildlife chained at the entrance to your fort is a good idea too.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: [CAN_LEARN]

My dogs have can learn and get butchered just fine, legendary conversationalists or not.  Also no one seems to have a problem with wearing their dog leather armor.  That tag has no effect other then allowing skill gains and thus stat gains.  Maybe its CAN_SPEAK that prevents butchuring, or my dwarves are just evil.
