DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Some megaprojects please?
« on: May 15, 2010, 05:49:25 pm »
creature_standard.txt

Create a copy of DF, go inot the above file, remove every sentient creature except dwarves. DONE!
THAT'S NOT VERY DWARFY.

You'll also need a drain device built somewhere, could just be a cave-in operated shaft that your adventurer pulls after pacing around on the platform for long enough (you'll probably want a stockpile of food and drink in lead bins accessible somewhere from the platform that won't get flooded by the magma)
The pump stack should ideally feed from a large reservoir that feeds in several places from the magma sea, to prevent the device sputtering after creating a magma whirlpool. You'll also probably want to do this in a pocket world, as you'll need to wall off all caves (as they lead to the clown car, which has bottomless pits), and because of the massive lag from flooding the entire world with magma. You also will need to use embark anywhere (does that still work?) to embark on an NPC fortress and wall it off/ install new dwarven underground farm technology if you want to embark after the flood (I don't think you can embark from the reformed governments of your abandoned fortresses).
yes, also an NPC fort would have all the layers under the fort smoothed if you dig on the bottom stair well.

Here's one for you become a goblin king. Find out how their diplomacy works in game and exploit it.

I don't think weapon degradation will be much of problem. There's always another wolf ready to be used as a club when your last one wears out.

What you need in adventure mode to make it more fun is a point. Why am I killing this dragon? Why am I attacking this hydra? Why am I exterminating this village? Actually, you're probably exterminating a village because you're searching for a point. Any additions that alleviate the lack of a point are the most important ones for me. I think as players we are mostly looking for our characters to make a difference in the world because that gives us a sense of accomplishment. At the moment the easiest (only?) way to make a difference in adventure mode is to kill things.

The quickest change that I would love to see is that all world leaders (quest givers) are made to never ever move from where you first find them. Later that can be changed so that they can move while still giving you a chance to find them again without it being aggravating. Maybe breaking all their legs at world gen as a placeholder could work.
well easy yes only not really. You need to before playing Adventure mode set up a in-game goal
to reach: Do you want your adventure to be king, (kill off/become) the power(s), bear children, bear bearmen children, start a town, cause a battle with out becoming an enemy of that civ?

Still most I said up there takes out of the vanilla (and adventure mode...) and may take up to some years in life to pull off but it's worth it to separate your adventurer from the pack that just kill things.

I see there is an edit function so would the next update add the ability to mess with the creature's code?

I'm not sure if that's a FB or you got demons mix up with them.
seeing how demons are the ones who pretend to be gods in civs than the FB who just roam the land.

All else fails try modding... when that fails beg a local hacker to make a taming utility so that you can recruit amsir the lovable pink coral titan. Amsir must have High consoling skills which means less awesome tables to make to keep the depress dwarfs at bay.

I dug down deep and made the surrounding area a fps death trap in adventure mode.

so what would happen to the community and stories board?

Looking at her head proportions she's obviously a girl still.

oh and yours is any older?

but look how small she is compared to the male sand raider!
don't human anatomy differs to person to person or are sand people's females known to have smaller head to body ratio than their males giving the appearance of height and age?

sweet thanks for the update darius but not being able to instant tame the non tame people in the embark area really dampens some of the dreams of demonic workers, and give adventurers the medical care they need if they get an infection or a broken limb.

Fault would you draw a mouse demon diplomat in a meeting with an snake demon law giver while a mongoose demonman janitor cleans up the spittle coming from the two (taking place in a goblin fort)? or you're not taking any more requests.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Awwww...Skill Decay?
« on: May 07, 2010, 12:33:25 am »
that skill decay seem to work on every thing even the non trainable stats so you have a dwarf that is full hardy and fun to be around with, 3 months later in a good fort boom he depressed and hates every one and can't remember to do simple tasks with out giving up.

After you killed the demon, the quest giver actually realised it was his farther, after falling on his knees shouting "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" he vowed revenge...
did he look in the mirror and see he had his snout or that he looks nothing like the people that elected him? Really makes those diplomat demons you see around DF a whole new story.

Wait patiently until adventuring is updated? Really, there is no way around having the entire town attack you for petty crimes like killing the physical incarnation of their god.
there is one way.
but it takes using fort mode... and traps mostly a cave in would do(getting a friendly creature who can fly to stand still is a challenge that makes killing it worth it). if you are lazy just get some Hacks and incase the demon in rock/ice warlord don't care about you personally killing the thing just the thing death. now it may lose some cred in legendary mode but it at least saves you the trouble of wiping out the last human town for a quest.
