DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Body-Swapping
« on: February 20, 2018, 03:40:16 am »
that doesn't set your adventurer party group/army which is needed for travel menu so the game gets confused.
which is why shonai_dweller said that.
you also probably should have did the Save technique which leaves you a save with the adventurer you wanted to play in case you get stuck as random animals from some weird reason the Body swap script doesnt work still you could savescum back,

Running into an issue with an annoyingly chill vampire.  People are aware of his condition, they just don't care, and killing him gets me branded as a murderer and run out of town.  Is there any way to convince a community that their resident military commander has murdered 250 people across three different towns and needs to die?
Wait their military commander has a kill streak of 250 in 3 different towns and that justification for his death? like who did you get the kill quest for? your most likely weakening this place defenses for say a Dwarven/goblin siege with this assassination, anyway you could just make a murder lord: An adventurer who lives in a camp that runs up and kills folks other adventurers don't want to bloodied their hands, then roleplay it as such.

edit: so jump back in on watching this feathered forgotten beast roam around and murder stuff I ended up finding a large part of a hilltop that has tamed animals, one of which was giant fat elephants.
remembering that I went a tad crazy with animal pets with civs I kinda gave the civilization a huge amount of critters they kinda always own.
some how all the blood soaked on the forgotten beast hasnt boiled off in the blazing inferno it caused and I'm starting to wonder if the beast is going to melt before killing the burned bloody beaten up giant fat elephant.

well said forgottenbeast is now striking folks with a cloak and now got 8 kills on it.

Set a fire underneath them after putting several around them.
light an item on fire, then give said item to them as a gift, hopefully you do this fast before you take too much fire damage.
for best chances stick flaming item in a box and give the whole box for fun.

oh if your still in the area they show up on the companion screen as Dead if you're currently looking at them or where they last died, and not visible otherwise.
the companion only gets removed from the list if you walk way enough to unload the dead unit, or fast travel to a place that doesn't have said unit loaded in.

I wish it were possible in dwarf mode to see exactly where each dwarf's feelings were generated.
It looks like the location where it happened isn't stored in the record of the emotion.  You'll have to make a feature request to Toady.

Rumrusher:
Try telling a beast a rumor about yourself even if it can't talk.  They've suddenly remembered to attack me every single time I've tried it.
I had experience of seeing a forgotten beast straight up attack my companions after asking one of them about the beast.
luckly the FB avoided attacking me during the mess. so chances are the ai are neutral on others until proven to be an enemy.

so the thing I notice was that the beasts seem to instant aggro when someone talks about the person.
a bronze colossus would more likely be re-aggro if the adventurer just ask someone about the bronze colossus near the bronze colossus.
then again I seen the creatures take time to attack a random person if you leave one near a group for some time.

now seeing the bug report it seems like the megabeasts just chilling til you provoke them. which added to the findings of someone talking about a megabeast seems to make this version of DF the Megabeasts are ok until you Hurt them both physically or emotionally.

ok fun new risky thing to do in adventure mode.
sneak into an army camp or hostile area probably with folks marked lethal and activate a dance and see if you can get a bunch of folks to join in on the performance.
some how got this kobold army to join in a war dance.

you can also take up a side task like practicing a small non combat skill and learning tales and stories of events to talk about later.
be a demi god but dump all your points into non combat and crafting skills so that your technically playing a peasant but a legendary bard way.

Adventure mode still has that Rise and fall bit just now more personal and currently the new version of the game seem to be alot more hostile if you just hold restraint on attacking everyone until they start charging at you.

Currently I'm wandering around picking up items giving them names then sticking them on pedestals when I walk into a keep.

oh that kind of drifting... here I thought you meant Minecart drifting
i kinda do both with my "no-kill tracked to you" runs of the game. which mostly ends up being taking in sights, building stuff, and running away from hostile forces...

Well learn something new today, if you ask someone about a fire breathing forgotten beast you some how convince to join you, chances are they might hurt the beasts feeling by calling them a dangerous beast, then get roasted by them in retaliation.
also Wolves will ambush you in trees and drop wolves are a thing, took me a while to realize the forgotten beast Ino jump up a tree to burn the wolves out.

anon_20 allows you to bypass the lacking a leader check though it might be there to prevent folks from just Crashing the game I havent figure out what the numbers lead to but I do know -1 the value will lock you out of sending folks out to raids.
wanted to mess with this  menu more but ended up just fiddling with the army and the army's controller instead.

you also end up with them trying to ask folks about their identification all the time on top of the stabbings.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Ocean voyages
« on: January 26, 2018, 09:57:11 am »
Just make sure you're swimming in warm waters, or during summer. Water freezes abruptly in DF, and if you're swimming when that happens you die instantly.

Other than that the only real risk is sheer boredom, since you can't fast travel over oceans.
also walking on a frozen ocean will result in the same scenario only with the ocean jutting up walls then if you travel too deep you might end up encased in a wall of ice from the ice floor caving in spraying all the water into the air which re-freezes.

I have so many artifacts. Like 30. Dear lord. And I'm still killing semi-megas for their artifacts and leading people off into the wilderness to rob them. I can hardly move. And this is nothing compared to the stashes I passed up at the dwarven capitals.

I should probably go home and drop these off or something.

I found a mountain titan. It's made entirely of coral. I can't kill it.
It just keeps chipping when I hit it...
Keep chipping and hope it runs out of body before you run out of chip.
finding out that you can Transfer an Artifacts name over to a new item mods lead to an idea of Mass creation of one Artifact and trading them for value... or making an adventure reaction to Convert all other artifacts to hold The one name.
or making 1 name item then transfer the artifact title onto an armor set.

You can't hold anything because either you're paralyzed or your hands are busted or both. Just start over in a human town, you'll have a much better time.
And don't pick fights with GCS or any other web spinners, there's no counter to webs so they're more dangerous than most megabeasts.
well no counter outside of playing one of their siblings the spider-folk but even so your kinda at disadvantage with not being able to swim if you play them no matter how many skill points you put into swimming.
