Well ended the experiment with a "crashing failure" it seem the type of demon race I nab didn't take kindly to childbirth and crashes the game.
oh well ended the fort with the goblin adventurer getting an artifact made of them out of brimstone of the time she 'stole' a slab the dwarves stole from the angels. oh and 2 sons of different fathers one a god, and a daughter from the dwarven husband I married her too. probably going to set up some other test/projects that a tad less waiting for units to socialize.

an update on the demon fort project, uhh found a dwarf with a liking for Rattlesnakepeople might be able to grab a snake adventurer and move one to a fort.
otherwise kinda been pondering if there a way to get a companion to Join a fort through vanillaish means or just start working on a different advmode needed project.

Do you see the same with a save/load cycle?
just booted up a save where I sent a queen to a 9 day hike and yeah looks like the game just brought them back instantly.
kinda wonder if save and load skips the timer on these and or either returns everyone to their last Site which for raid parties from fort mode means they return to the fort?
seems like this could be used to speed up sieging sites. now if there was only a way to Tell your army to Murder everyone at the site and not try to steal artifacts.

That's what I'm pretty sure is going on, I was tracking two traveling parties and closed in for contact a little while after they met up.

Mostly thrown off by the massive overpop of specific groups, I don't think I ever saw much more than ~50 individuals at one site in .31 or .34, so I suspect it cropped up more recently.

Was nice to see that the reactions from NPCs is fairly good these days, around ~10% of the kobolds were fleeing, and most of the spam was from ones who'd just woken up to combat shouting stuff.
i think before 44.0x I did the same thing and ended up having 2 army tents park next to each other and a fight broke out between the groups, I talk to the 2 folks fighting and they said the other person was a brigand and needs to be punished. I say that probably the game running as normal, and saw first hand a gang war.

so yeah it seems like quicksave Quickens armies you send to return back home in the 44.05 version of the game.
though I kinda was wondering what was crashing the game for a bit

Yeah, bandits are still somewhat borked - I notice often when I enter bandit camps that they tend to attack each other for some reason.
that probably due to 2 different bandit groups colliding with each other.
or the change up on the Rep system now causes all crimes to be reported thus everyone looking to murder each other for actions they did.
often when any weird oddities happen I start talking to the folks to see if A they think the other person is a dangerous threat that needs to be killed or don't really know the other person.

then there the insurrection bit where chances are this was a ploy to take over the site you just wander in to.

so kinda dawn on me that the demon was lying and had a second identity during a massive insurrection that started when I got to the spire.
oh well currently screwing around in Fort mode to see if I can get one of the dwarves to marry my goblin adventurer, then see if they fall in love with the demon next.
process probably going to be grueling waiting and pondering if I can lock 2 people in a room.

Seems she forgot to advise them not to go around announcing themselves as a criminal. Probably the cause of the conflict.
considering the insurrection these guys probably tied to a the rebel spinter group and She got the bad draw on identities.
"we hate the brush disloyalty!" "oh uhhh Snag breathes fire."
though kinda need to think up a way to get Guisenature apart of the fort. also keep sending the self appointed queen away so she don't mess with my science practices. so far I.... probably should had look up the fire imp scenario more to see if any research was had.

Adventurers can't marry.
look I know that, but some how someone got a fire imp to marry a dwarf so I'm wondering if it possible for one side to propose.
and it was mostly testing to see if a dwarf with a preference for goblins would marry, then a dwarf with a preference for say a Demon would also marry.

so discovered unit.enemy.unk_v40_sub3.unk_5 contains something to do with learning Demon names.
which means it possible to edit that to bind and banish folks

well considering how binding and banishing works, in a you learn the name then at any point you can command them, someone got lucky on the demon names.
then again they also can just Die to a Cave crocodile or some unlucky hit to the brain case so agreeing to be capture sounds alot easier to do than die by a thousand cuts and have that sweet deal set up by a god go to waste.

since giant tall Lizardman librarian kinda something I didn't draw next to "necromancer saves Giant lizard wife from his own army."

edit: well I'm breaking down and going on a hunt to find a demon of my own after grabbing a slab from a bunch of dwarves who did the work of taking it out of the vault. going to science on Demon companions and Fort mode and "the fire imp child thing." see if it possible to get said demon to marry a dwarf by the game code it self.

edit: well I was kinda hoping the demon could pass the inspection check but I guess this is how Snang answers goblins

the escape ended up with goblins civilians running and fighting goblin militia while my Goblin adventurer.
probably should had seen something odd when there was goblin blood everywhere and corpses and Rumors of Goblin attacking Goblin filled up my adventurer's report log.
I guess hostile to neutral ethics now mean hostile to EVERYONE who doesn't answer back that they are an ally.
also I guess the criminal stuff Does explain how that one demon got arrested if the reports and Rumors are working Murder is now a crime and towns and sites will arrest folks if they are nearby.

on the subject of prisoners kinda got my adventurer kidnapped in a foolish attempt to find a necromancer book in fort mode.
longer story ends up with 2 grizzlybear women being sent out, one came back, the other getting captured and the rescue attempt ended up with a bear becoming a noble and returning home earlier thus not ending the mission or rescuing anyone.

Some how got the other bear freed by retiring the fort, jumping into adventure mode selecting the prisoner bear then ... the game plops them back at the fort site. killing any surprise of playing a prison break.
still she technically a prisoner of the civ. Vanilla 44.04 DF is a fun but weird game, time to download 44.05 then

So, I formed my own troupe. It has 7 people RN.

1. Is there a limit on troupe size?

2. If I retire, will the troupe disband?

1. the limit is the same as companions I think (I think 9 or 8 is the cap)

2. more than likely no, but some things might happen in the legends causing the group to split
the limit for companions is tied to fame but really there is no limit if you tell a bunch of your troupe to wait somewhere while you recruit more, this only works if you leave the site.

just realize you could just code around thrown objects hitting extremely powerful foes by making the item at a certain range just plummets into the ground, or do extremely less damage. now I wonder if force damage is that strong an item made of nothing if thrown at an extremely High speed will kill someone on the feedback alone?

Yeah, but the personal store of rep doesn't seem to track everything properly either, and people don't seem to care about the entity linked fame since I previously tried making myself a legendary hero/hunter/bandit slayer/artifact finder and all via the reputation fields for shit effect, but doing it to a direct relationship field worked as seen above.
so in a odd way adventurers can get into a relationship, it kinda tied to your fame.
so the game plan isn't to do a bunch of quests for a bunch of random folks but to instead to a bunch of quest for a Really really important person to butter them up and gain favors like your wooing them with your feats.
wait doesn't that mean since it's a relationship affair you could get an adventurer to be someone's hero/hunter/bandit slayer/artifact finder in the relationship tab? like how if you trade with a player fort citizen they will add the adventurer down as "good for business" in their relationship list.
