I've started to wonder how a tantrum spiral would affect my school if one of the kids died...

Simply go into MS paint (or any other basic paint program), draw an even circle, and then zoom in until you can see the individual pixels. That's generally how I roll.  8)

Does his name happen to be Urist McNorris?

DF Suggestions / Re: OIL
« on: June 19, 2010, 10:16:29 pm »
Oil has been suggested many times, plastics would be right out, since the first i believe was created 1900-1920, and DF is apparently set in the 1300's?
I do like the idea of fossils though, just for a bit of flavour  :D

There's nothing as satisfying as the cold, mass-slaughter of every animal (kittens included!) in your fortress and the subsequent jump in frame rate.

I believe you must add the [WEAPON] tag to to metal somewhere... (or not, I suck at modding)

I wonder if it would be worth the expense to retrieve the adamantine sword?

I believe magma forges currently only require fire-safe materials, so you should be fine.

EDIT: I'm not sure though  :-\

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Favorite Type of Stone?

Personally I'm a fan of sandstone. It's nothing fancy, it's the working-dwarfs stone.

(and my house is made of sandstone blocks) :D

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Stones, stones and... stones again
« on: May 14, 2010, 08:03:47 pm »
Atom-Smashing the process of grinding stone until it simply does not exist, possibly pushing it into the hypothesized "Elf" dimension.

1: Building a drawbridge
2: Raise said drawbridge
3: Designate dump zone
4: Dump what you want to eliminate
5: Lower drawbridge

You might want to read up about mechanics if your not sure about how to do this.

DF Gameplay Questions / Need assistance with tilesets
« on: April 27, 2010, 05:42:17 am »
I've been attempting to install a square tileset (Dortans 9x9) and have been trying to increase the amount of grid tiles and decrease black space in fullscreen mode. I've tried following the steps in the wiki, but it never works.
Could somebody write me up exactly what I need to change?
Resolution is 1050 x 1200
Help would be much appreciated.

DF Gameplay Questions / Bloody low FPS
« on: April 02, 2010, 07:27:21 am »
In the previous version of DF, I would begin an embark at the comfortable rate of 100fps. But now when I run the game it's about 7fps. The computer is the same, and I have all the same settings... What could be causing it?

DF General Discussion / Re: Has it been a week yet?
« on: March 28, 2010, 12:36:08 am »
In order to improve the universe's frame rate, we must all throw rocks into volcanoes and then do absolutely nothing, worldwide, for a week, to take pressure off pathfinding.
or maybe throw them into the large hadron collider to atom-smash them instead.

Not to mention to throw all available animals into tiny pits.

What you should have made was a town militia with no sparring allowed. Each would be allowed no more than 1 iron spear and a wooden shield. This way you could have massive battle with appreciable casualties on both sides. Eventually the strongest would survive, and could be rewarded with maybe some chain mail and their own house.
