Echidnas have four-headed penises

Echidnas are monotremes, having a cloaca. They are the only extant monotremes besides platypi. Echidnas don't have nipples, but milk patches, and carry their eggs around in a "pouch" on their abdomen, but not like a marsupial pouch, more like the "primordial pouch" of cats. It's like squeezed between two rows of abdominal muscles. They eat bugs.

They're pretty cool.

I like to think DF's kobolds are a relative of echidnas and platypi. Have hair, ears, undescended males, lay eggs.

General Discussion / Re: The Dream Thread
« on: July 27, 2023, 02:45:51 am »
Dream started out as playing modded minecraft with unknown friends, making a mushroom tree farm in the depths if a truly gargantuan sinkhole. We were making a truly huge farm with tree saplings that could be planted in every square without spacing. Night came and we all went to bed, like actually sleeping irl, but in "game," which amounted to our reality, not in the minecraft sense. One of them had a sleeping bag in the farm area. And a movie came on. Not like on a television screen anywhere, but projected in empty space or on the cave walls somehow. I had been expecting this, the cave movies were known to me. So I stayed up to watch it.

It started out as a zombie horror flick, with a family trapped in a burning house surrounded by zombies. But then they were saved by Logan, as in Wolverine. And one other Xman. They took the family somewhere else. Meanwhile professor X and Ironman were getting help on how to solve the overall zombie issue. From Gandalf, from LOTR, who was going to take all the zombies to another dimension without the living because they were nominally intelligent and capable of being rehabilitated, just being bloodthirsty maniacs.

But before this was resolved it cut to Spiderman and Deadpool killing zombies and webbing survivors in danger and looters and gathering them up for transport. Transport was being handled by a cartoon giraffe thing who was flirting with one of the many spiderverse versions of spidergwen, taking people out to the desert to a secluded Mesa.

But then it cut to some city where a security guard trapped in a tower was getting bored and looked into a room with a bunch of sealed containers under glass, and opened one up. Someone yelled "no dont!" And everything exploded in orange mist. Steve Rogers was there and got caught in it.

Then i got confused by how weird this movie was and heard someone else awake in the cave-house. I tried talking to them, was going to ask If they were watching this shit too and what marvel movie was this, but realized it wasn't one of my friends, they were all still asleep. My father was now asleep in the cave house too on the sofa. Then in the hallway between rooms I was confronted by an old bald man who started questioning me about the movie, insinuating that I was insane and hallucinating. I was now in an office complex in a normal city. My mom came to pick me up and give me a ride home, and as i was describing what I had gone through to her, when I woke up.

I had really bad heartburn and had fallen asleep right after dinner, so I'm blaming this nonsense on that. It's barely 1pm now.

Oil and coal companies are the source and sponsor for most all the fear mongering propaganda about renewables, nuclear energy and ev's, yeah.

dear Toady,

i was wondering why stone cavern floors arent color palleted per type so they match the walls

thank u. and great job on the game!

Probably because a lot of players found that annoying in order versions. People wanted floors to be homogenous, without having to pave over them with blocks. A toggle or something to display it with mineral or bedrock colors would be neat, though.

Yeah, lithium batteries are pretty dangerous in certain circumstances. Part of the reason a lot of effort goes into researching alternative batteries.

I guess it's a question of the line between "dormant" versus "dead"... or "unalive."

The question was prompted while eating an apple today - the apple, when not attached to its tree...is it alive?  At what point does a vegetable cease being alive and just...something else? Or are plants oddities and they remain alive, simply transitioning from "good vegetable" to "vegetable with lots of non-vegetable growth" until it turns into an organic mass that no longer metabolizes?

(Oddly enough, I'm not even under the influence of anything... got myself into a weird loop.)

To muddy up the waters, there is a species of diatomic algae (my Google fu is failing me but I read about it a couple years ago on a science journal site) that allows itself to completely dry out, then come back to life when water is restored. The kicker is, when it dries out, it's chromosomes fall apart and then recombine when it rehydrates. This simulates sexual reproduction enough that the species, despite only reproducing asexually, has been around for millions of years. Usually asexually reproducing organisms either go extinct or change sufficiently to be a(or many) different species over generations.

Now, considering that it completely ceases all cellular function so much so that its chromosomes break down, and then revives with differently-arranged chromosomes, does that qualify as the same organism? Is it technically a different life, or the same living thing resurrected? Is it undead or newly born from its parents corpse?

Another dumb marketing stunt.

Oh, frumple, have you tried wrapping the kitty up in a thick bath towel like a burrito? That's the best way to get the fight ones to hold still and avoid scratches I've found. Might need a second pair of hands to help though.

I don't use them, is there any reason not to use the base Firefox client?

If there is a body size outside the caste definitions, so it applies to the species as a whole, that one should be used as the size for the castes too.

Only by diluting the pool of options with less protective breastplate alternatives.

Oh, but you could! Power overwhelming!

I was going to say I saw while reading the comic Nodwick, they "stole" a castle by lifting it into the sky with magic balloons. Just lead the bandits out first and haul their home away!

Hope they bring something next year. Never encountered that personally, did they spawn with goods and dump them on the map edge?

You know I didn't see anything in the spreadsheet about selling equipment, which is why I spent everything on skills. Definitely going to need that steel in the future it seems.

Butcher Bart didn't upgrade at all though!? I feel both let down and excited

Honestly it sounds like the universe doesnt like sci-fi authors making predictions that "will never happen"

You should claim gravity/space-time manipulation is impossible next.
