When the news post says that "almost every major feature is done" what does that mean in terms of some kind of playable release? Also, are there any relatively recent gameplay videos I could check out? It's been a while since I properly looked at this game :)

It means they now have to decide if they release a late alpha/early beta SP mode now or wait until Sep to release the full game beta. My contact told me last night that the internal vote was 7 to 3 in favor of releasing SP first but that it doesn't matter when the lead has VETO power. They are attending a Multiplay conference in late August, so there will have to at least be crude MP in place by then.

I still believe the week of July 29th is a great contender for a playable build for at least some people.

I honestly believe that selling WarZ and it's new name are criminal. They game is so bad that it merits a class action lawsuit. It misrepresents itself, it has an in game itemshop which is necessary to keep pumping money into because the game is FULL of hackers and the game itself has an unstable item database. Hammerpoint has done NOTHING to implement a change in any of these flaws or publicly address them. They just continue to take money for a product that they know to be faulty and Steam aids them in this and profits from it as well. This is the only problem I have ever had with Steam since 2005.
So today I learned that I'm inclined to take hemmingjay's condemnations at face value. Normally I'd probably want more details before agreeing with someone's description of a game I've never played, but somehow this just... seemed true.

Impressive credibility, hemmingjay.

This is the only time you should trust my opinion blindly. Challenge everything else always!

Anyway, it looks like Monaco is going to be significantly on sale later today/early tomorrow judging by their FB/Twitter.

He's going to make T2 and T3 the same year then?

I am a little pissed. I voted for CS:GO because it was supposed to be $5.00 but once it got picked they changed it to $6.28 and yes, I am in the US. Bastards.

Other Games / Re: the Steam Trading Cards thread
« on: July 18, 2013, 04:54:48 pm »
It's not in my best interest but here it is anyway. These are series 1 cards. Ideally, in about 2-4 weeks they will move on to series 2 and series 1 will no longer be attainable, thereby increasing their value. Also, when people use their cards to create badges, it should lower the number of cards in play, once again increasing the value. The problem is Valve doesn't really know how they want to handle it right now. They say that additional drops are locked until others craft badges, etc, to control the number of cards in play but that is being tweaked behind the scenes. The summer sale cards will be mostly worthless after the sale ends. Foils are probably going to end up carrying a $0.50 or so premium over their normal counterpart unless Valve seriously changes the rewards for crafting with foils.

This is speculative economics at best. I have been buying cards at 14-19 cents and foils that are under 0.75 because I have some money to play with and speculate. I am doing it as a hobby since there is no fast or easy way to sell a lot of cards and hence the profits are not going to be worth my time in any circumstances. Honestly, buying the cards in this current market isn't worth my time considering how many tries it takes to buy a card unless I overpay .03 over lowest market price. It's a headache.

There are some really bad games in the sale. Stupendously horrible. Games that shouldn't even be listed on Steam. Games that never should have been made and/or distributed to anyone alive ever.

Your point being...what? Steam has had bad titles since they started selling titles. What does that have to do with this year's sale, at all?
If I might interpret: BigD145 is iriated that crap like WarZ is one of the deals of the day. It shouldn't be. We can all agreed that it shouldn't even be on Steam, but giving it advertising? Thats just wrong.

I hope this means that he has doubled the programming output and not that the new programmer is taking over that duty alone while he just supervises.

So, I caved and bought Torchlight 2. I figure, it was on sale 3 times already, it must be a sign, right? ... Right?
You won't regret it.
Seriously.

Some of the games listed will have to go on sale more, for example, Anno 2070 Complete is still $35 on sale.

So it's clear that they need to add a saturation spider now, right?

Your thinking just happened to coincide with the empirical evidence. It very well might be an improvement, but no assumption can be made right now.

This crowd pulls no punches but I think we are out of constructive criticism for those 2 screens. Gameplay discussions will be exciting I am sure!

There is unfortunately no evidence that multiplayer will be any better than Terraria yet. It could be hard to setup and connect, it could have no tools for dealing with griefers, it could have rubberbanding problems......we just don't know yet.

Other Games / Pick one game from Steam sale

Everyone, I am going to try to pick up a few extra games from the sale to give away soon. You can help me by each picking one game from the sale that you wanted but didn't get, at any price. Please only pick one each day. I will try to get one or two(or 3) each day of the remaining sale to put away for giveaways. Thanks for your help.

For example, I would have picked the Tropico 4 bundle since I didn't have Modern Times and Pirate Haven and that almost costs the same as the bundle alone.
