I fire it up every 3 months or so and get disappointed that there still isn't much to do. I really don't understand how progress is so slow on this one compared to almost all other 1 man games in development, especially considering how much money he has raked in.

Bought Gnomoria, but it won't start up :(

Which is odd since it did work when I tried the... ehm... "demo" version, and I liked it a lot.

I know this is basic, but check the files and if that doesn't work then delete and re-download(it's less than 800mb, right?). I had to do this twice.

This thread backfired on me! I am now so hyped up I can barely contain myself. The next 7 day will be suffering incarnate for me! .....I guess I can grind Cube World in the mean time.

I would suggest heading over to their forum and making it clear then. The majority of gamers are forced to play alone and most of the content that is completed is SP oriented right now, so I think those are their reasoning, but nothing is set in stone. Apparently, they also discuss the idea of waiting until EVERYTHING is done, circa Jan 2014. Everything is up in the air with this group. I do think you are outnumbered though, as many people play SP first to learn and then MP for social fun/pvp/group builds if Terraria and their forums are anything to go by.

That looks at least x20 better.

Couldn't agree more. It doesn't compromise your artistic vision much while my retinas won't bleed!

It seems that the general consensus amongst the team is to release the SP beta soonish and finish with MP functionality for the next couple of months with Gold/retail scheduled for Dec or Jan at the latest. The team member I talk to says it's a much better game than they ever thought it would be.

I asked if July release was out of the question and he/she said it wasn't the most likely timeframe but that the biggest issue keeping that from happening is getting the pipelines for download/forums/site in place and tested for 100K+ downloads on day 1. August is more likely, but only if they do SP beta first. I'm trying to stay cool about this game but it honestly looks like it could be one of those genre shaping masterpieces.

I maxed out the summer sale badge, so if you see me online check my inventory for summer sale cards and you can have your pick.

It's almost like they are going for The Little Big Planet graphics but with that extra over the top lighting. Anyway, I think I have harped on that aspect enough. I can't wait for more gameplay details!

Luckily it's all in alpha right now. I'm sure graphics aren't the focus this early on.

Thanks for the tips Motor! I might have to fire it back up while keeping that in mind.

Not offended, just confused. No worries, we can agree to disagree. I thought you were referring to 4x features in general since you said colony ships are basically settlers from Civ and building improvements is from Civ. You said planets were just like cities in Civ. All of these to me are basic tenets of 4x in general and not specific to Civ or GalCiv2, which is where my confusion came from.

As for SotS2, I couldn't agree with you more. Everything is laborious!

It looks good and very similar to Simon Roth's Maia engine.

I've been looking slightly in the direction of Dust: An Elysian Tail, mostly because the art looked vaguely interesting. Does anyone have an opinion on the actual game?
Played it for 1 minute, decided I hated the characters, story and gameplay so far, uninstalled it.

???

Thank you for admitting that you barely remember it. Your descriptions are for 4x games in general, not GalCiv2 other than the alignment feature. Civilization is a 4x game based terrestrially as opposed to space. It was not the first. Ideally each new 4x adds something to the genre or refines previous errors in design development. I am not attacking your opinion, just pointing out some facts you might not have known.

GalCiv2 is very overrated.  It's an unimaginative Civilization rip-off.

I've played SotS 1 quite a bit.  I bought SotS 2 but couldn't get into it.  Something about the UI and the whole presentation just didn't work for me.

You're going to have to explain this one to me, with some examples. If you are going to completely dismiss a game five people just recommended with examples, you have to do better than just use a broad stroke insult.
