Gravity ftw
When you start in the worst conditions the game has to offer, survive a riot causing 80% casualties, a giant cave spider attack early on taking out half your population, and a goblin siege that is let into your main working populace because of a mitten propping a door open taking out another 70% of your populace,*inhales for a breath* then you take every chance you get at protecting your dwarves, magma dooms day devices and all.

I lol'ed to that
Dwarf: My god... where did you all come from!?!
Seriously though, if i had people drop like, 1 single z level down into a pit of monster(s), would they die? Get wounded? Would they be fit enough to battle my ranc- i mean monster?
The one thing i want to know, is how do i make straight-up spikes on the floor for them to get impaled on? Or was that just a rumour?

So this big shot dwarf liason declined my offer so many times, even after a 600 dollar profit, that he upped and left on me before i could buy my first #^&&ing anvil!!! SOB is not getting away with that twice, im going to design some type of very large pit which i can open, on command, in the area of where the dwarven traders come and go, so that next time, if something doesn't go MY way, i can open a can of spartan woop-ass on them.
My general idea was to dig out 5ish z levels / layers of ground for the pit, build a bridge / bridges over it to completely cover it, and at the bottom build spikes ( still don't know how to do this yet) and have a single lever connect to all the bridges / the one bridge covering the pit, and once they are over it, let them fall onto the spikes, and go down through my fort and pick up the loot.
Does this sound like a plausible / good idea? Are there any other good methods people have designed for similar problems?
.....KUH-KUH-KUH YEEEEAAAH!!....
To the real question, i have no answer. I dont use pumps. All natural down here baby.
