@Janekk Sucks to be you, then. If you live in a country where you have to travel that far to find someone to play with then you may as well just give up hope of starting.

@kulik There are a few ways:
1) Recce troops or even better Soviet infitrators get a free move befiore the game, this can be used to sneak behind enemy troops.
2) Smoke launchers can launch smoke bombs (who'd have known?) around the enemy to cover you while you sneak around behind them.
3) You can also use units such as heavy tanks or artillery to keep the enemy pinned down while your guys and lighter tanks sneak round the back, this is my preffered method.
4) I'm not entirely sure but I think there is a country that can make reserves enter from the rear ( :X ), but I'm not sure which army this is.
5) British paratroopers can drop behind enemy lines to create an ambush.

But in general tactics other than the ones I mentioned weren't used in real war, and this is very realistic.

@OzyTheSage As far as I know the kv-5 was never actually used in battle, just planned, but the company have released it as a model. I own four kv-85s and a kv-1 but I'm gonna get rid of the 1 and replace it with another kv-85 until I can build a bigger army.

@Asehujiko The armies are really well balanced, it is hard to filed nothing but a single konigster because one lucky shot and it goes down, so you really have to be careful with units like that. Generally the US is a fairly standard army, they don't have any particular speciality. The Germans are tank specialists, there are so many types of tank for them to choose from it amazes me. The british are troop based, they have powerful infantry but few tanks. Finally, the Soviets are a horde army, but they do have the option to go for a German approach as well.

@Kulik There isn't fog of war in this, so that isn't really a problem.

@Janekk and Hemmingjay Where do you live? My friend managed to find a place where people meet up to play just a few miles from my village, they are suprisingly common. However, in my village me and my frineds are the only ones who play FOW, because actual players are rare.

I've been playing this tabletop wargame with some friends for about two months now, and it's pretty epic.

Basically it's is a 15mm tabletop wargame set in WWII. It is similar to Warhammer in the points system, etc. However it is much more tactical than any of the GW games. I personally collect the Soviets, and I'm thinking on buying (the models are pretty cheap) a kv-5, which is a Soviet super-heavy tank that is practically invulnerable on it's front and side armour, but is vulnerable on the top armour.

Here's some websites:

As an American, I want to make a game where everyone speaks with a London accent, has bad teeth, and talks about the Queen, and how God should save her.  Every building looks like Parliament, and there are British flags everywhere.  The people discuss government, using quotes from wikipedia (Including the citation links).  It'll be the best game ever.
You seem to be joking about that, whereas, in fact, that is exactly what london is like.

Life Advice / Re: So Lonely
« on: May 02, 2010, 04:10:40 pm »
Also, it's probably odd I don't ever really feel lonely. The only time I'm lonely is when I'm incapable of having ANY social contact and I have nothing to do, which is very rare.
Same here, but when I do get like that I take a walk down to the town, or wherever there are people. I don't even do much there, just take a walk around the park, look for a good book in the library, say "Hi" to some people as they go past... It's easy, you should try it.

But the best advice is to join a club. I suggest a wargaming club as everyone at those is always really friendly, just not Warhammer/40k, the people that play that tend to be douches.

You've put E4's picture in D4, and removed D4 (which happened to be mine).

I had a lucid dream once, but I never left the area that I was in because it ended after about fifteen minutes.
I was on a street corner and just messing about making cars and such, 'twas epic.
