I get antsy if I can't color code my levers by basic functions. Red for magma, Microcline/Kimberlite for water, others by whatever I feel like for that fort.

I have a green glass fixation as well.

They happily butcher fire imps and put the fiery meat and fat in the same stockpile where the booze is. I lost a fortress this way.

Have you set a sand collection zone?

no, like, there is no sand on my map. I've got sandy LOAM and loamy sand, but that's it.

Perhaps I misread it.

I too have not noticed any horrible problems.

I simply want a working stasis chamber.

got an important, but mandateitis ridden noble? put them on ice until you can meet their demand, get tired of them, or forget where you put them!

my river gets to be 2-3 z levels due to narrow confines and being at a junction of two rivers, one several Z levels above.

you'd probably just need to forcibly narrow and deepen it methinks.

I think it'd just trap them and they'd die though.

Well cages certainly don't protect Elven animals who go through freezing areas, so I doubt it.

I have had several animals encased in ice after sitting at the bottom of a raging river for months with no ill effect whatsoever.

that's what I was basing it off of. then again my area is only cold, not freezing.

It's not set up for prisoners, as I'm in a hermetically sealed fort, but I've set up automated slaughterhouses for the animals I managed to catch before closing the vault and have since bred.
