Laid the First Magmaduct to the Base of Armok's Avatar.

the base of Armok, the destroyer has been started. My only concern is that I underestimated the space I need for plumbing, as it was originally meant to be a lighthouse, Not a water AND magma shooting monstrosity.

I have a tendency to Make Economic/Science based forts.

I ignore my military and rely on a comprehensive defense grid to keep my dorfs safe (that fails from time to time, hence me picking goblins as the main cause of death.)

surprisingly my science doesn't  explode disastrously nearly as much as I'd like, I feel like I'm doing it wrong somehow.

AHA. I have decided for a Vishnu-Esque Statue of Armok, Complete with magma tears and water from the mouthes. One face in each cardinal direction, With his hammer having an emergency stockpile of food/booze and a control room built in plus some living quarters for the most important dwarves.

I find it saddening that the only competitive weapon is the Axe.

No military, I Tend to be rather economic/Scientific for a fort.

the only weapons I have are in my minimal defensive grid and in boxes from what I've stripped from my test subjects.

This, obviously, creates problems in situations such as this where powerful enemies wish to destroy me.

Edit: Gotta love caravan Guards.
