From the diary of Ziril Gusgashsigun, 10th of Felsite.

We were too ambitious. And now it's everywhere. Choking us! If only this could have been avoided...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I've drawn up some plans. Hopefully with will give us more room to breathe, literally. *cough*

Spoiler: Plans (click to show/hide)

Morale is down in other areas as well, people are demanding chairs, and beds. Whiners.

In other news, both Derek and Skuld have some actual work to do, instead of just hauling things around!

I'm not letting Skuld touch the silver nuggets just yet, I don't think she has enough experience. And on top of that there's the issue of letting other people know not to use them!

(I'll put you on the waiting list! In the meantime, you can use your imaaaa~gination about what's going on in the mountainhomes, and just what is that awesome general's goal here? :D)

From the Diary of Ziril Gusgashsigun 13th of Slate,
Time to get productive! We've weathered the first storm

No one died, despite what the General had me believing. I'm beginning to suspect that this place isn't as dangerous as she made it sound. Really, the only thing that still creeps me out is the fact that we haven't seen any wild life since we got here...

I've ordered work to start on excavating the silver vein, I plan to place Skuld's work and living areas somewhere along it. She insisted. Persistantly. It was a bit creepy, to be honest. I think she doesn't just like silver, I think she may be
in love with silver!

Speaking of strange companions, Black Hat.

As much as he cares for those cows, the first time he went to make cheese, this happened.

It's not THAT dangerous, Mysterious Mr. Black Hat!

(Haha, don't worry r3d5kull, there are other ways to have a rebellion :D)

Dear diary,
I cannot, will not suppress my feelings any longer. I love Mekboy!

Everything about him! His beautiful beard, his cobalt eyes, even the deliberate way he speaks when he gets angry!
We're so similar, too! We both worship Tobul, we're both masons, it's like we were made for each other!

[This goes on for several pages]

Right, well enough about that hunk, back to business.
We finished the pasture above ground, but all the dogs are in there with the livestock! It's quite a puzzle, I guess I'll have to order Derek to make a cage or something. I'm sure he'd love a break from hauling stuff.

Speaking of working, look at me and Mekboy, in our temporary workshops!

He's so cute when he's working...[/i]

I already have a lot of scarves and things, I believe. You could just steal some. :D

Work is still going slowly on the pasture, but there's good news for Skuld. We struck more native silver! The stuff seems to be all over the place.

Well, we finally finished digging the entrance hall. I had planned to just make it a straight tunnel to where we're putting the depot, but Mekboy advised against it. Well, that's how I interpreted "That's just what they want you to do!" to mean, and not that he's insane.

Let me state this for the record: Mekboy is most definitely not insane, and he certainly did not construct a park that defied euclidean geometry. He just designed it.

Work on Black-Hat's pasture is going slowly, but he doesn't seem to mind. What he does mind is the size.

But really, it's not my fault it's so small! If I were to make it any larger, enemies could climb over from the mountainside... In fact, I'm worrying that we might need a roof for it too, but that might defeat his intentions of an open air pasture... I'll have to ask him.
In the meantime, everyone else is working on getting their junk precious things inside, though Skuld has already made it clear that she'd prefer to be smoothing and subsequently vandalizing every single stone surface. One thing that should make her happy is that we found a native silver vein!

I'm a bit apprehensive about digging it out now, as our miners are currently... Not so great. I hope they don't read this.

P.S. I know how to make it up to Black Hat AND get those miner some experience! I expanded the pasture underground (In case it starts raining acid rain, I've heard horror stories...) And I designated a house for him!

247
Above ground or below ground pasture?

248
Use Terramancy to shift the mountains slightly, letting the water out.

249
I'm sure there's plenty of room for an uprising once the fort has more people.  ;)

Granite 1st, 1051, extremely early morning.

"Can't we stop for a rest?"

"Mekboy, we took a break yesterday. If you keep slowing us down like this we'll be overtaken by the caravans." Replied Ziril. As much as she liked him, a fellow mason, he had absolutely no endurance, and she couldn't let that disrupt the mission.

Soon afterwards, John Schidtt, exhausted, mis-stepped and tumbled down the moutain, landing in a grassy valley.

"Great. Fine, let's ALL take a break while I-"
"Ziril."
"-have to go down there,-"
"Ziril!"
"-come all the way back up and-"
"ZIRIL!"
"-What?!"
"We're here!" Skuld announced cheerfully. Gracefully as a mountain goat, she bounded down the steep cliffs to help her friend.

Ziril began to issue orders immediately. "Okay, John, go chop down some trees-"
"There aren't any trees."
"What."
"And in any case, I should be in the military, not performing these menial duties."
"First off, we don't even have a military-"
"We could! Hey, I'll even lead it." Piped up Derek.
"NO. We don't have enough people to spare."
"What about a Militia?"
"I suppose..."

"There. It's done, it's recorded. Happy?"
"Hmmm. I guess."
"Good. Now you; start digging. You; start chopping down trees!"
"There aren't any trees."
"&*#!"

I must have looked terrified, for the general rushed to reassure me that I was not in trouble, far from it! She said.

If I wasn't in trouble, if you truly "appreciated [my] contributions to the vital growth of Udildakas," why would you send me AWAY from the city, to be the leader of some remote outpost in the middle of a literal hell on earth?!

But I can't refuse, and I can't run away. She's sending two "escorts" along with the civilians.

I wonder why the king wasn't the one to give me these orders. Is this going to be a military outpost? Who would we invade? It can't be that.

We're finally here. The other side of the world. So far, it's every bit as lousy as I thought it would be.

And I wondered what they had been thinking, bringing their personal effects, when they should have been packing survival tools, as I did, as the peculiar Mr. Black-Hat did. As for everyone else (Including the armed escort!), the entire journey they were relying on us for food, shelter, breaks-- This isn't a vacation!

Argh. I guess it is for them, more or less.
They got the brochure. "Go forth, brave dwarves! The time is now to seek your fortune! The Northern Expedition needs YOU!" And on the front, of course, is an artist's rendition of the Jungles of Blossoming; full of hope, magic, and unicorns.

Do you see a unicorn? I sure don't. I keep expecting some ghoul to come in the night.

I still can't believe that same artist
chose to be part of the first Expedition, knowing the true nature of these mountains.

She even drew us a
Spoiler: 'map' (click to show/hide)
, though I think it's fairly useless. It doesn't even convey the height of the mountains here! And honestly, I think she got bored while drawing it, seeing as there are neither trees nor unicorns in this "jungle"

You heard me, no trees.

Looking back over the list, I suppose even I brought one personal item--a rope. If worst comes to worst, its just a sharp drop and a sudden stop.

(Take some time to think over where we should start digging in, which workshops should be built now, ect. while I write the next post)

253
This is weird, there are no trees now! And it says hills! WTH. I'm going to try turning the weather on, see if that makes a difference?

255
Yes, Stukos is still available, and he can be a miner or a mason, plus however you wish to spend your 5 skill points, and you may request some items. :D

Oh yeah, I forgot to add the translations of the names!

Skuld Kelcagith = Skuld Metalcries
Mekboy Tabarkilrud = Mekboy Faithbronze
