It actaully refers to the hand teleporter, not the scroll

Responce to my post ....

Ah, sorry, I came out more hostile then I intended.
First, I'm not trying to threaten you, as I stated in my edit, I'm not actually that interested in cowed.
Second, Even if I was, I would not support source-stealing, even if it was by bay12.
Third, All I'm saying is that if you open-source you will lose control, cowed is a part of the byond community after all.

Again, sorry if it came out as overly hostile.

Well, I will register my interest in the game
I've been looking for a hacking game like this for a long time.

Is it more RPing or gameplay focused though ?

Everyone is missing the whole point of open-sourcing and running a seperate server.
For us to run a seperate server, we need complete control over admins, developers or otherwise.
Data, you've had a history of admin abuse, Don't try to deny It, and it seams like half the forum does not want to see you involved in anyway.

If we started our own server, then it would be open-source, but forcing all the traditional developers to be  admins is not how most games work.

That being said, at this point, the source has been leaked, you cannot deny that, and although I wouldn't use it myself, there will be people who will.

The way I see it is that you are in almost no position of power. Without your permission I would hope bay12 wouldn't go ahead with a server, but if we do, or someone else does, you honestly can't stop them.

The only way to truely try and prevent this mess is to remove the developer only restriction. Most actual developers will be more then happy to share source back.

If all the source is open, then really the only reason for one person to choose one server over another is a better play-style or enviroment.

Personally, I don't care. I don't really have much of an interest in Cowed, but I feel that some-one has to state this. Now don't go shooting the messenger.

EDIT: sorry if this seams overly hostile, but right now, theres alot of things that could happen in the event that open-sourcing goes ahead, and I don't think many of them are in your favor, but I don't really know what I would do in your position either

Note to all players.
Plasma contamination is cureable.

The plasma only infects clothing and anything that you are holding, it can be removed by simply discarding all contaiminated items.

firedoors do stop temperature from leaving the station, however it seems that 95% of the people who play on the bay12 server just blindly open firedoors without even closing them behind them anyway, so its not like they help.
With the new atmos system it wouldn't help airflow will push them away and it takes all of 5 seconds for a room to depressurise

Which is why I liked data's ico system.
When we do PDAs, the captain and HoP should be able to assign people from afar, just modify their security/ID record and when the person inserts their ID into an ID modifier it should auto-update to whatever its been assigned to

I'm keen for this, how ever, should one traitor or griefer get hold of this they could truely make the round un-playable (not so much the traitor as thats there job  ;D)
Yeah, thats why the person would have to insert their ID into the modifier, if they don't then their card doesn't get updated, so it works both ways, if the traitor was to erase everyones ID's, then all it would mean is that they shouldn't insert their card into an ID modifier, which isn't exactly a problem

Job Kiosk is good, although I would prefer a method where the captain or HoP can control what jobs people are given
Spawning randomly as the HoP in a round where the captain is missing and all hope is lost pretty much wreaks RP.

Also, greifers just spawn, bomb/shoot with laser/do crap, and leave

Can admins have some kind of info thingy on networking? Currently, I have no clue how it works. Without knowing that, I cant prevent griefing. A door opens automatically, letting the air all out? Oh well, its not like I can figure out how they did it.

And that brings up another point. How do we stop people from networking griefing? It can be done from anywhere, correct?
First off, the only playable thing with a networking interface is the AI at the moment.
It has exactly the same capabilites as before, nothing has changed that way

Server is now up.

If people complain about airflow not being deadly enough, the settings are changable, and you will soon be able to vote for them

Aparently a vent connected to a connector surronded on all sides by glass, with one human in it doesn't kill the human, or move the one piece of not attached glass. Needs a pump.

Also, admins now have a change plasma button which has some interesting settings for what plasma does to people.....why do we need this?
For future use, mainly allowing people to vote on how deadly the station is, and to insure that plasma is actaully something to research and not just make bombs out off

They have certain somethings nowadays that's clear (enough) and as strong as steel. Switching out most windows with stuff like this would solve the atmospherics leak, plus, it would make repairing windows less annoying and needed.

Also, Space Suits shouldn't be affected by space wind.
Its not that.
Windows are the least of your problems in a station filled with meteors, syndicate, people forgetting to close airlocks

Some dumbass decided to open both airlocks at the same time. it sucked everyone out... =/

Airlocks need to.. you know... lock... you know... so that shit doesn't happen.

EDIT: I like some of the new graphics, but are we not allowed to 'switch' places with people anymore?

EDIT 2: oh, and most importantly, the chat is really broken...
Yeah, airlocks like in every sci-fi game ever, don't think I need to explain those, that would be awesome.
Speaking of which, it should be impossible to close doors if someone is in the way, unless that door is hacked or something, then it will squish people and kill them.

I agree,
external airlocks should use a button on a wall AND a saftey mechanism that has to be overriden to open the airlock.
While there is airpressure in between the two airlocks it would be prevented by the saftey mechanism.

thats what you meant with sci-fi game airlocks right?
We will do this eventually, plus a way for the station to repressurise from atmos semi-automatically, and airlocks with shut-off sections of the station automatically in the event of a leak
