Life Advice / Re: Just got an assault rifle

My main suggestion to you OP would be this: Go to a forum that focuses on guns and marksmanship so you don't run into this sort of shit. You'll most likely get better informed people there anyways. I'll check with my father later and see if he knows any good sites. If he knows of any I'll post them up for you.

I talked with him and he said you should try this place.

Well, I suppose those pictures very definitely confirm that this is in fact THE Dad.

Speaking of which, I think he's the only character that's never actually going to get a real name...

It was confirmed long ago with this.

UPDATE EDIT: What is the significance of the word "attic"?

My heart has been bothering me lately. Sudden pains followed by rapid beating... Probably not a good sign I'd say.

I just survived until late summer and ended up killing myself by accident with a molotov. What a lame way to die after all I survived.

Anyways, I also wanted to say that I never really had any problem with the early game. I just grab a trenchcoat, a pair of cargo pants, and a hatchet and I'm set.

I've started eating again, maybe my body just needs time to catch up.

Really depressed today. It doesn't help that I've had a headache for about 16 or 17 19 hours. At least it isn't as bad as last night.

You realize that fruit isn't all that low-cal, right? Those that are "juicy" (overwhelmingly water, basically) are typically the lower calorie ones, but a banana (for instance) typically has about 100 calories. Sweet fruits are basically sacks of sugar genetically engineered to taste delicious, you know. Brief research suggests that a single serving of lean beef, or chicken breast (I figure that "lean meat" typically refers to one of these two, but feel free to correct me), has between 200 and 250 calories. That doesn't necessarily rule out your statement, but it does make me a bit suspicious.

At any rate, everything Heliman said is correct. Listen to this man, he is trustworthy.

Ah, for a guess I was pretty close. I only eat about 4 Bananas a day, sometimes 5.

I do plan to heed his advice, along with everyone elses.

Anyway, we've derailed the thread enough. Let's get back on topic.

I was sad today because i got sunburnt.

Darn australian sun.

I can agree with that, not exactly a derail I care to continue. Well, accept for this last response anyways.

So yes, sad today because I woke up with a headache. Bad way to start the day.

^Historically speaking, Vector really hates being analyzed like a lab's test-subject.

Is that really how it came across? I guess I need to work on my people skills still.

At any rate, 31 days is gonna be ridiculous unless you're seriously obese, in which case it'd merely be an extraordinarily bad idea, as opposed to one that will probably kill you if you actually manage to follow through on it. But then, I don't actually know for sure. Maybe it would kill you anyway.

If you want to be smart about this, I'd recommend cutting off 500 calories every 3 or 4 days until you're at, maybe, half your current intake, and call it quits if it starts fucking with your ability to function. Even this is probably going to be really unhealthy if you're not overeating, but it'll reduce the whiplash your body goes through and let you retain enough intake to keep certain vital processes going, like nerve impulses and body heat.

I only consume roughly 500-750 calories per day by my estimation. I eat mainly fresh fruit (Bananas usually) for everything except dinner, which is usually a chunk of lean meat and some vegetables.

Gandhi lasted for 21 days on a hunger strike in his 70s if I remember right. I also remember that several political prisoners managed to last 40-60 days before dying from lack of food. So I figured 31 would be as far as I could possibly go without risking serious damage. I suppose since its now been put on my pile of things to do I'll have plenty of time to look into it more. Not that I didn't look into it, but I may have been a little too hasty.

Ouch. My head is really hurting, I better get some sleep. Also, if your reading this Vector I just want to say sorry again. Just ignore me and my weirdness.

You guys may be right, I'll take what you've said into consideration.

I've done less than this and it was extremely destructive to my mind and body.  Don't do it.

And if you want to lose weight, this isn't the way to do it.  It fucks up your hormone balance so you'll gain everything back really fast the minute you stop.

If you don't mind me asking, how long did you go without food and was any of the damage permanent?

I may have to stop this mainly because I can't document this to the level I would like. I'm sure some good data on starvation could be collected if I organized this better. Yes, maybe I will put it off until later.

Why are you fasting, if you don't mind me asking?

To test/build my willpower and gain better insights into suffering and starvation. That would be the primary reasons.

As for secondary reasons, Thanksgiving is approaching and, on a more practical level, I can afford to lose the weight at the moment anyways.

I should elaborate on the Thankgiving reason some. First the obvious, everyone is feasting while those who are starving keep on starving. Its not so much a protest on my part as it is a way for me to show recognition to them, if that makes any sense. Second, I would like to make my family think more about how fortunate they are and how unfortunate others are. Finally, I think the situation is funny.

That sums up my reasons pretty much. I'm lazy so I'll copy and paste the plan from my Diary if anyone is interested.

11/4/2011

I'm starting a fast today for various reasons I may go into later. The plan at least at the moment is to reach at least 31 days without any food. I'll be drinking as much water as I want though. The water is purified via a Brita filter pitcher, which uses charcoal. Since it is city water, its full of chlorine and fluoride... My current weight is around 217-218.
