Spinesscaled, a spiked steel ball with an image of the queen on it.  Worth a little under 500,000 dwarfbucks.

A case of mistaken identity has resulted in some no-name chump being made baron.  It's a real shame, since I had some high hopes for my baron's career.  Oh well.

I don't have my FPS counter on right now, but it must be pretty high.  It's actually kind of irritating, for things like merchants and moods.  I'm not gonna mess with it, though, since it's mostly a good thing.

This is my first fortress to focus on the metal industry.  (My previous was the first one where I really got steel-production figured out.)  I'm basically going to make it so that life is great for metalworkers, miners, engineers, and jewelers, and not so great for anyone else.  Except maybe doctors.

Just had a blacksmith mood, but he ended up going berserk and killing the expedition leader.

I've been playing this today.  My human wizard tamed three killer bees and a unicorn before dying of food poisoning.   :D

Elves just brought me a really fat Tigerman.  If I can figure out how to name him, I'll call him Garfield.

HOLD THE PHONE.

So I embarked on multiple biomes and I have a nice 5-Z waterfall in my area. Now it's winter and part of the stream is freezing... except for the waterfall. It's frozen further down but the waterfall keeps dumping water into the crevice, creating a giant wall of ice.

There HAS to be a way to weaponize this.

I would chain up POWs on top of it (naked, of course), then watch them all drown when it melts, or when they get encased in ice.

I'm not sure if that's a legendary-person name or if that means my dwarf civ was ruled by a night creature at one point.

I think it means that she became a night creature at some point during her reign.  She probably ceased to be queen after she was converted.

I abandoned my old fort, deleted the world, and started a new one.  This one has some pretty cool history.  The civ I chose was conquered by humans centuries ago, and has had a human monarch for most of it's existence.  I'm setting out to have the dwarves take back their empire.

My expedition team consists of four metalworkers, two miners, and a soldier.  Anyone not involved in metal, mining, jewelry, or defense will be treated as a lower class citizen.

Most interesting of all, I seem to be getting deadly rain.  I didn't think that could happen anymore.  I'm totally okay with it, though.   8)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
This one, I really like.

I'm thinking of drawing some of the titans and demons from the world whose legends I've been exploring.

Mame Pukechant the Strong Juices, a Hydra.
Also, a human group, The Society of Assaulting, and a goblin group, The Evil of Weevils.

I was looking around online for a game to play.  I wanted a nation/city building simulation, and some other things I can't remember.  I came across a thread on some website (it had a green background, but I can't remember what it's called.  Some kind of advice site, I think.), where someone else was looking for the same kind of thing.  A few people mentioned Dwarf Fortress, but I shrugged it off, because it involved dwarfs.  I was not interested in fantasy (though Dwarf Fortress has since gotten me interested).  But as I read on, I saw more and more people say how great it was, so I finally looked it up.  I read the site, then probably looked it up on TVTropes, and finally decided it was worth a shot.

a loincloth with the word gallows in its name! I actually got a cold shiver that ran down my spine....

It also has a mushroom on it.

yeah i knida thought he was trying to be modest and have an image instead of just not having the loincloth on at all...Urit McExhibitionist trying to be more PC and all that.

I assumed it was not an image of a mushroom, but rather a small copper statue of a mushroom.

I generally just give all my "useless" migrants (that is, ones I won't be using anytime soon, like shearers) the "Farming (Fields)" labor.  Seems appropriate to me.  If I'm doing a lot of constructing, I'll also add Masonry or Carpentry.

"Some migrants have arrived despite the danger" why does it say this why not just "some migrants have arrived"
Does this have a meaning

It means that they've heard about all your dwarfs dying, but they came anyway.  Sometimes you'll get no migrants because they consider your place a deathtrap, and it'll give you a message saying so.

I had four legendary soldiers that had been sent with the King.  Except the King hadn't actually shown up, so I had these four unemployed supersoldiers.  I already had a military of about 70, and I didn't really have room for them.
At the same time, I had another problem:  There are no goblins in my world.  This means my military just sits in their barracks sparring (but hardly gaining any skill), with no real combat.
I decided to kill two birds with one stone:  I ordered my military to attack the caravan guards that came with the humans.  Several of my dwarfs were killed, making room for the legendaries, and now I have some war to look forward to.   8)
