What do engravings of deities look like?  Do they just look like whatever the deity takes the form of, or do they have their own symbol?

Four miners have died today in the process of caving in a section of a 4 z-level tunnel.  The total number who have died working on this tunnel is probably more like 20-something.
Also, I had a guy go berserk from a failed mood.  Luckily, animals have a sense for this sort of thing.  I know this because he was immediately attacked by a war grizzly bear, a cougar, and a buzzard, and they ripped him to pieces.

You know that squirrel demon prisoner I mention a while ago? Well, according to the legend he was the administrator of the dark fortress and gives no explanation as to why he was consider a prisoner; his record just went straight from becoming to administrator to "escaping" about 200 years later.

I'm guessing his home got conquered by another civilization.

I recently got Frightcrater, an alunite ring adorned with rings of alunite.
I'd like to imagine that those rings of alunite were adorned with their own alunite rings.

It's an elvish nation, not a drag revue. Not that there's much difference.

Hehe.  I'm thinking of sigging that.

i made this in 2 hours with gimp
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

i want to know what to do with the background and how to detail it more so it can be used as a wallpaper

I assumed this dwarf was falling, after being on the bridge at the wrong time.  So maybe the background could be blurred.

Controlpeaks the Persuasive Rip, a donkey leather flute.
"There's no way I'm putting that in my mouth!"
"C'mon, it's a flute!  Um... a leather flute!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

If I was going to be immortalized in a legendary artifact statue, I don't think a statue of me being terrified by rats would be my first choice.

Hehe.  The other day I had one of a guy surrounded by flies... I don't even know how they pulled that off.

"Petalbust the Crotch of Dripping". No implication of whether that's good or bad dripping, but it's a hell of a name for a girl.

"Petalbust" sounds kind of erotic, so I'll say it's good dripping.

In Garnishedshocks, the local rulers are The Coalition of Toast and the religious leaders are The Buttery Creed. All a part of your complete Fruity Confederacies.

Hahaha, I like that a lot!

Actually, it appears that one of them does have a cat... but I have the same problem with both engineers, including the one that has no pets.

DF Gameplay Questions / Creature Occupying Site
« on: August 21, 2010, 02:01:18 pm »
I've got a small (for now) problem - Everytime I try to build a Siege Workshop, it gets suspended, because there's a "Creature Occupying Site."  However, it appears that the only creature in the area is the dwarf who is supposed to be building it.  I can't find any traces of pets or vermin.  Is there a way I can keep the Engineer from getting in his own way?

I've finally gotten around to reclaiming Clashworks, the site of what will eventually be something megaproject-ish.  I tried reclaiming it a few times - the first time, I found that a Bronze Colossus and a Hydra had both escaped their cages.  So I abandoned again, and came back with seven proficient axedwarves.  They couldn't handle the Hydra, and didn't even get a chance to face the BC.  Next, I embarked with seven dabbling axedwarves, used Runesmith to make them legendary axedwarves with high stats, and tried again.  They took out the Hydra (4 died in the process), but couldn't give the BC anything more than a dented finger.  Finally, I embarked one last time with a more standard crew, and used Runesmith to teleport the Bronze Colossus into hell.

This should still be very Fun.  There are about twenty five friendly goblins and trolls, but I have a feeling I'll be getting an ambush or a siege early on.  Also, I've heard things along the lines of "Sparring works now", which means my soldiers will probably be killing each other soon.  (I'm not willing to deal with the hassle of training weapons)

(Did I mess up the raws somewhere? They literaly just watched me get beat up).

I've had that problem before - I think they only help you fight members of other civilizations if they're a member of the same one as you.  Very frustrating.

Thanks!  I would, but it was loosely based on a specific fortress, in which all the engravings were weeping administrators and humans taming things.
