Attention passengers:

Due to overbooking, the migrant wagon to Merchantmansions is full. All luggage must be checked, except for axes, picks and crossbows (which may be carried on) and pet cats (which will be abandoned at the terminal - it's either that or upright spikes at the fort, sorry Urist.) Furthermore, all checked luggage will be chasmed.

Thank you for choosing Dastot Wagonways.

Just put the spikes to the last of the female cats. Got her before she matured... catsplosion averted.

Construction of the electrum drawbridge has begun. With a few well-placed walls and a moat, this should make for a pretty defensible location.

Working on the first two of what will be a system of five arrow towers overlooking my electrum drawbridge (which will double as my gobbo clothing atomsmasher). Now I just need the crossbow dwarves to man them.

I've also arranged for a couple of upright spear trap "unfortunate accidents" for my fortress cats. Two down, one queued up, three or four left to go.

If you are relatively close to an established dwarf settlement, it may have been a random migrant wandering the world map.

Had my third weaponsmith go moody (secretive), this time producing a nickel silver short sword. I have been quarrying out more marble in order to get the steel industry rolling.

On a related note, I now have three legendary weaponsmiths and no armorsmiths past accomplished. Feh.

Two weaponsmiths recently mooded, resulting in a lead battle axe (Armok have mercy on the poor schlub tasked with swinging that beast) and an aluminum short sword. Once I get around to quarrying out more marble, it'll mean masterwork steel battle axes for everybody!

My meat industry is humming along now that we have several breeding pairs each of gigantic horses, cattle, donkeys and deer. Plus the elves keep bringing me goodies like giant tigers and giant scorpions.

I've got a dump right next to my workshops with everything reclaimed and he still trots off to my basement when needs a new rock.

You could always d-b-d all the stone in the basement so it winds up in the quantum stockpile. Alternately, you could d-b-f all of the stone in the basement.

Z -> Stocks -> Stones -> (pick stone w/ largest quantity) -> D

That'll keep 'em busy until the next caravan arrives.

The new mayor was getting fussy about the office/dining room he inherited, so I built him a new apartment with a dedicated food stockpile and plenty of exceptional-quality statues. He's a bit happier now.

Quickly leveled the bonecarver up to legendary using the shell helm exploit in 31.08, so now my bling burrow is two-thirds complete.

Finally got around to removing the [PET_EXOTIC] tag from the raws, so now my fox farm is getting underway.

Don't think of it as losing an arm as much as gaining a spot to mount a permanent prosthetic pick appendage.

I think it also happens when a dwarf gets cleaned up prior to surgery. That's when I have seen it.

The colony elected my legendary mason to the office of Mayor. Losing him to an Unfortunate Accident (tm) would be highly unfortunate indeed. Thankfully his mandates have been somewhat constructive: native gold items (he now has a gold chest in his bedroom); green glass items; battle axes and an export ban on green glass. Since my economy revolves around selling masterwork microcline trumpets to the elves, that last mandate is mostly meaningless.

Long live the Mayor!
