Curses / Re: ELITE LIBERAL SKILLS
« on: January 31, 2010, 12:24:05 pm »
Any and all gun skills should gain the Arnold tag.

Who else do you know that spreads bullets as liberaly as the governator? He defies physics inorder to fire his weapon, never needing to reload or cool down!

effect:Randomly when weapon is shot no ammo is taken. CHance increases as Level increases. At REALLY high levels has chance to create MORE ammo as well.

Forgive a noob, but "clownmetal"? What the heck is that?!

And is it awesome?
Yes, it's pretty awesome.
But clownmetal is the name of a secret. We do not tell people the secret, because it will spoil the game. Personally, I looked on the wiki and I don't think it would have been that great even if I didn't know, but to each his own I guess.

I too Wiki'd the Clownmetal. It is Found at the Hidden Fun Stuff (HFS) The HFS generally has a lot of 'Clowns' These clowns are all kinds of Dwarf fortress brand Fun. defeat the clowns and you have access to all kinds of clownmetal.

DF Modding / Re: Creating a "Pyromancer" (or icemancer)
« on: January 25, 2010, 12:06:34 am »
So you mean to tell me that the UNIVERSAL term for 'Death Mage' is NOT Necromancer?
No, it would be Necrourge.
... Necro... Urge...
.... *shudders*

YOU GOOD SIR ARE A LIAR! (over exagerated much?) In every game ever the Death Mage (or Undeath Mage as they're generally related with) is called the 'Necromancer' I haven't seen a game, book, or anything else that says different.

Edit: I did some research on my own on the definition of Mancer and you are correct, but it aso means 'Practitioner of' as in 'uses'

DF Gameplay Questions / So if I was going to do a surface town...
« on: January 24, 2010, 10:07:34 pm »
It's a challenge we all like to do atleast once in awhile, the surface town. What I'm wondering is if any of the Siege Engines are good on top roofs. (or what the max Height vs. Ground is for each.) I was going to expirement but some modding of my own design deleted the town, so I'd figure I'd ask here.

While on the topic of Siege, does a Ballista Bolt need a head to fire, or does just the arrow work?

DF Modding / Re: Dragons in Adventure Mode

I crapped out a Dragon entity and I'm having some fun with it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was at least a moderately functional flight system. However, dragon breath and building destroyer don't seem to be controllable feature. Is there a work-around for this?

Wait, you got flight to actually work? Please do tell, I've been trying to get it to work for awhile now.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Best way to calculate round fortresses?
« on: January 16, 2010, 09:59:05 pm »
I know what you mean, but I'm going to post this anyway.

Because diagonal movement in the game doesn't cost any more than movement in any of the six cardinal directions (north, east, west, south, up, down), 'square' rooms and buildings are actually circular- every point of the edge of a given 'square'-looking room is exactly the same distance from the center of it as any other, which is the definition of a circle.

'Circular'-looking rooms, on the other hand, are actually much closer to really being square. The edges of the room in the four cardinal directions are further away from the center than the edges you reach moving diagonally.

Isn't DF physics fun?
Why yes, I know alot of people that would get SOO confused by that you wouldn't believe, but that is quite the concept. I oughta  show msome of my fellow GT friends this one...

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Friendly megabeast — what to do?
« on: January 16, 2010, 09:24:42 pm »
Well, your plan worked better than my next one, Which was either Magma or Atom Smash, I've learned that those are dwarvenly ways to solve problems with livings. But what your plan did works much better.

hmm... this might of changed in Dig Deeper (which I don't use) but I don't think creatures can destroy Walls made by b->C->w, nor flooring made in a similar manner, so I would try pinning him in large room. One large enough that he won't scare the dwarves from building it. just make sure a dwarf doesn't get caught in the box.

Aah, so you get multiple Coke for one coal, just making sure because it seemed like at first to be a waste of time/wood. (but isn't a waste of wood besides beds/bins/barrels/Elf angering?)

And also, what is the process of making steel? (ya, total noob much, understand the basics, gotten to sheriff before... something happenned.)

What is the point of Coke if it still takes Charcoal to make it?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Endangered elves?

I once had the entirety of the goblins wiped out. There was like, well, I didn't search very well and didn't bother counting, but I had gotten to about 6 still alive when I got bored of slow menu progression, and this was about year 30 when I stopped reading. But they were not a civ, and I was happy for such a good map.

Ooh... new world, sweet! Also... I would love to see a picture of a swordsman with an arrow through their face and one in each shoulder stabbing elves. We all know how amazing that is... if it wasn't me X_X

Also, if your interested in mods I have a race of Draconians if your interested in adding them. (Mountain/plains, lava proof, fly, all around fun, don't have a sprite set for them though :/ )
