Other Games / Re: How did you last die?

Was drawing out a captain by killing his Olog buddies, managed to get him to show up, but tried to clear up the mess of grunts around me before facing him. Kept trying to drain a pesky Olog as I'd just unlocked an upgrade that allowed that. Fucker ignored that and stomped me. Missed the 'try not to die quicktime event' so he not only kills me, but he fucking DESTROYS my goddamn LEGENDARY SWORD, the one that drops from a legendary orc captain, the super rare fuckers.

At this point I think I'm done with the game, two forts down, some 50ish% completed. I've seen pretty much everything so far, the story isn't interesting in the slightest and the gameplay itself is starting to grow stale. Game was worth the 10 or so Euros I got it for, but not much more than that.

Speaking of learning trough failing, picked this up recently as it's been sitting on my wishlist for ages and the discount was pretty nice.

First colony was nothing fancy as I was mostly figuring out stuff, was going fine until I tried to get fancy. See I wanted my latrine/shower to dump their dirty water into a natural cave I dug to, before pumping it all out and filtering it for further use. That would've been fine if I also hadn't put a dirty water dumping spot next to them, which obviously needed a mesh floor to be usable for getting rid of any waste water produced elsewhere (mostly algae farms and the one washing up spot).

Anyways, who knew that having an open air septic tank would stink up the entire goddamn base :V

Also sidenote, how bad are coal/wood power generators at pumping at CO2? I really needed to switch since my power usage kinda outgrew the little pedal machine but I'm not sure if I should've separated the thing somehow or started filtering out the CO2 fairly soonish.

So after my last brush with the plague (that never really went anywhere, no symptoms for me or any of my immediate family) a month or so back, another encounter appears. Friend and his wife tested positive after a fever yesterday, and we kinda hung out multiple times over the past week so highly likely that if they were infectious I would've caught it. Then again, it's just as possible I've been asymptomatic last time and am worrying about nothing again :V

Tho I have half a mind to just go and get tested if possible and put the whole thing to rest, even if it'd be temporary.

It's at 60% so it comes around 11ish €/$ depending on your region, DLC is similarly discounted.

Quick question on the Gladius game as it's on a fairly nice discount atm. Is it any good?

40k games haven't been particularly great in years now (few exceptions here and there), and this one looks like a reskinned Civ copy (which might not be a bad thing since Civ is pretty good), plus the DLC approach is a bit ehh as well from the looks of it (having both faction specific DLC and then smaller unit DLC which seems to add one or two units for each faction) so the total price comes out at quite a bit more if you want everything.

Today, Firefox decided to commit sudoku.

Worked fine in the morning, came back in the afternoon, none of the tabs were responding, decide to kill it and start it up again, wouldn't launch. Figure a restart would fix it. After the restart it claimed the app was not installed and the shortcuts were leading to nothing.

Truly bizzare

Make a full AV scann on your pc.

Having read up on the issue it seems to be a case of certain update/core files becoming unavailable for whatever reason (in my case I'm suspecting a recent windows update resetting some security settings and locking out access to said files)
Reinstalling FF seems to have fixed the problem, also managed to get some of the tabs back (as opening all of them one by one was too much of a hassle) so it's not all bad.

So out of the blue, my mouse started acting up for whatever reason, one day it was fine, the next one very much not. After start-up it works fine for a few minutes then it's almost as if the cable is damaged or there's some issue with the optics, the damn thing starts jumping all over the screen or becomes unresponsive for a few seconds before returning back to normal for another several seconds and then the whole thing starts again and only seems to get worse as time goes on.

If it was a windows update that fucked something or me installing or uninstalling something else I'd get it and start troubleshooting from there. But I did fuck all before the issue appeared, just a case of the thing working one day and then not working the next.

And this isn't even some shitty cheapo mouse but a halfway decent one, which makes this thing even worse :V

That list wouldn't perhaps include some games like MGS V or Horizon Zero Dawn, Fallout 4, Borderlands 3 even, would it?

It does seem a bit of a stretch to have so many super big titles, especially some so soon after release.

Something occurred to me while taking a walk the other day. Around these parts we have this way of notifying the general public about a death via obituaries, more specifically, aside from having a section for them in the newspaper, the physical things are plastered in certain locations.
Graveyards obviously have a small board of sorts for them, but then there's panels like these at certain spots around the city, big intersections and the like. Furthermore, even if they're not specifically made with the function in mind, most bus stops are made with big plexiglass panels that are perfect for sticking stuff to, and since they see heavy people traffic they also get plastered with obituaries. Then of course you have them stuck to the doors of the grieving families and if they're living in a big building, they're usually found on the building entry doors or the buildings notices board.

Now the question I had was, is this something common to the rest of the world or is it a balkans approach to things. If not, how do you folks go about letting the world at large know that a certain person has died?

No no, clearly the role of the mesh is to act as a faraday cage of sorts and prevent your brainwaves being affected by the lizard people who are orchestrating this whole thing.

Did a Vortex Throt playthrough last night, was fairly short as you can pretty easily take the key settlements with one or two armies (and it's real easy to get armies up to strength with the free vat units) and the stuff the WE send after you is pretty laughable. Free abominations every couple of turns is pretty wack as it turns out, and Throt is a pretty decent fighter all things considered.

Would've won the entire campaign if only my army didn't rout before Throt managed to run to the edge of the map, useless bunch of gits can't even handle multiple WE armies :V

It's a high tier meme tho :V

Like, a single plagueclaw is going to do just as much if not more, much earlier in the game (while also probably being cheaper, can't remember their prices/upkeep atm)

Edit:

Unrelated thing I meant to comment on earlier but forgot. Is it just me or is the escaped greenskin slaves event kind of shit in the vortex campaign? You fight a fairly tough DE army (for early game anyway, mostly because they're just as missile heavy as you so you will take casualties) and then every now and then a single province in naggarond will get the event that damages some buildings and reduces their slave numbers. Not sure if it was something bugged or if that's all there is to it, but I was expecting something more developed I guess? Something you can maybe interact with down the line a bit?

Yeah I think it's healing any forest that gives her in ME, tho I haven't played that yet.

And what I meant by lack of proper siege was something heavy and shooty like mortars, bolt throwers or plagueclaws. Stuff that can damage both towers and walls and is pretty good at murdering any garrisoning units afterwards. Sure they have nice archers and the hawks are pretty sweet, but they both usually need to be within murder range to do any damage.

Dunno, this might just be tons of hours playing factions with proper artillery and not being used to going without. Probably one of the reasons why I disliked the greenskins as they're a fairly aggressive and melee focused army, while my mindset is usually to hunker down and shoot anything that tries to touch me :V

Right, third attempt got me a technical win of the campaign on Vortex, all I gotta do is murder clan Moulder, which should be a cakewalk and an exercise in wasting time since I pretty got my doomstack (and it's fairly diverse but leaning heavily on stag knigths, hawk riders and assorted missile units with a few dragons and heroes thrown in). Final battle thing was fairly easy, wasn't clear cut at first as the skaven kinda bumrush your but once I got some spells and abilities off they crumbled fairly easily. Then the chaos comes in and it's even more of a joke. Fun bit of info, 4 hawk riders using their volley ability on a snared chaos lord/sorcerer on a dragon is enough to chunk some 90% of it's hp and instantly rout the poor bastard.
I'm guessing you could easily push the hawk riders further into broken if you ran more of them in combination with a few more heroes to provide the extra snares.

Anyways, I'm still not entirely sold on the WE what with their lack of proper siege stuff and kinda lackluster options in terms of unit variety (they do get a bit of everything but it feels so meh compared to pretty much every other faction, tho I guess that's because they haven't really had proper updates until now).

Also also, further thoughts on the forge stuff, pretty eh, you get most of the stuff fairly quickly and until they implement the rework I'd say only a single option is really viable in the long term, even if it does offer weaker rewards.
Also also also, is it just me or is Ariel kinda bloody overloaded in terms of skills/abilities/kit in general. Like, I get she's supposed to be a legendary hero and super special and powerful but she gets so much shit to choose from as well as being able to do so much in terms of magic and active skills that every other hero of the faction looks rather shit, like the poor wayfinder dudes which have barely enough skillpoints to take up the full 40 points.

Anyways anyways, on to the real meat of the DLC, the big bad glutton rat, super stoked to play around with the mutation stuff.
