Perchance the true beauty of the mural is that all dwarven souls view it as their own. Personally, I think it the pillar of blood - filled smoke rising from a !!goblin siege!!

You can give Overlord Farming or Masonry, if we need really need them, but his true home is deep in the mountain.

OK, so, gettin' what should be the last dwarf. Alright!

Name: Overlord
Skills: Macedwarf+Miner

Backstory: Overlord spent long years mining out passages in the mountainhomes. When the king finally declared the area finished, he suffered an existential crisis. What was the mountainhomes' best miner to do without anyplace to mine! He turned to the military to find his new calling, becoming somewhat skilled in the axe, and the pike. but this never truly appealed to him. Upon viewing for the first time the grand cathedral to St. Urist, he knew his calling. Upon discovering that his religion required something more... esoteric than straight-up hacking or stabbing, he took up the mace as his new weapon of choice, but never could escape the familiarity with which a pick fell into his hand. He views the reclamation effort as a way to revive his lost miner's arts, and show his faith through toil and glory.

Requesting Dwarfage:

Name: Overlord
Skills: Military, preferably hammer.
Gender: Whatever shows up

Backstory will be PM'd post Haste.

Edit because in the process of writing the PM I had an epiphany regarding his job.

1. I would believe so, but all undead are automatically hostile to the living, meaning that even if you trained it it would still kill dwarves anyways.

And with the double damage bonus from becoming a war-zombie, they'd probably be pretty damn good at it, as well.

Well... Darnit. So much for my army of the undead...

Waiting for magma to fill the space under my nice new magma workshops. that haven't had power for over a year. I'm starting to think I should have pressurized it with a pump, consequences be damned. But oh well.

DF Modding / Small Modding Questions
« on: January 25, 2010, 06:24:21 pm »
So. I was going to just do some minor tweaking in my raws, and ran into a few questions for those more experienced than myself:

1: how do zombie/skeletal creatures work? do the same tags apply for for them as for their non-zombie cousins? (i.e. if I give the 'trainable' tag to a fire imp, would I also be able to train skeletal fire imps?)

2: Are there any consequences to adding a [PET] or [PET_EXOTIC] tag to [CAN_CIV] creatures?

Also, because I can't justify to myself making a thread just for these few questions, I'd like to open it up to all my fellow aspiring tinkerers.
If that's OK...

Waiting for my new migrant wave to finish quantum-dumping all the stone I've got from digging everything out.
Then on to MAGMA!

Also:
Skeletal Mountain Goats.
SKELETAL. MOUNTAIN. GOATS.

Checklist of Dermonster:
Towers [no]

Bah. Towers. What sort of thick-headed shallow-dwelling dwarves Elves live in towers?.
What we need are dungeons. Masterful dungeons. Trap-filled dungeons, loaded with tamed undead and magma channels. and obsidian. and magma.
And of course, my personal quarters must be in the very back of them.

Datan's a guy's name, and the DM's a girl, actually (seriously, about 75% of all migrants are girls. what the hell.), but you can have her for sure. Feel free to pick a different name if you like.

Well I feel intelligent right now. You'd really think I would have noticed that...
So... keep Datan or pick a new name...
Bah. Keep the name. Dwarven Science sneers at personal indecision!

Could I get the dungeon master? Please-o-please-o-please-o-please...
If not then whoever. maybe the mechanic?

Name: Datan
Personality: Depends. For the DM, I like the way you played him in the last update: irate over the distinct lack of dungeons, generally pissed at everything and everyone, all 'round Fun in the making. For the mechanic, just whatever he needs to make the plot go along.

Oh, and either way, he hates wood.
and towers.
and spirals.

I'm watching half a goblin siege chase a kitten, and am hoping that they just kill the damn thing already...

539
Having just read through the madness, I really hope you get back to it soon.

[disappointed]Dang. I was going to start a community game like this, but looks like I was beat to the punch.[/disappointed]
Ah well, I might as well join in this one!

Urist McOverlord Requesting Dwarfage:
Name: Datan (it was going to be the name of the overlord in my story. grumblegrumblegruble...)
Gender: Male, preferably
Profession: Could I get Sheriff/Captain when the position becomes available? Preferably with the custom job title of "Lieutenant"

In-Character, he'd basically be the standard guard leader archetype. Loyal, strict, sadistic...
