Can you set a pressure plate to drain the vertical airlock?

Plate

So the dwarf falls in, lands on the plate, the water drains, and Urist McDamp walks in to the fort proper, letting up on the plate and resetting the system. Or is the water going to affect the plate?

Better yet, do they gain skill as a child? At least basic stats? If so, Spartans anyone? Give him simple fights in a arena setup and level the sucker up. You could pick out a handful that show promise and train them together as an elite squad.

And if treading water still builds strength, then you could include that too.

I might have to try this...  :)

Ah. Thank you for the correction.

However, to choke people, you need to add an attack...

[ATTACK:WRESTLING:BODYPART:BY_CATEGORY:TAIL]
      [ATTACK_SKILL:WRESTLING]
                [ATTACK_VERB:grab:grabs]
      [ATTACK_CONTACT_PERC:100]
      [ATTACK_PRIORITY:SECOND]
      [ATTACK_FLAG_CANLATCH]

Am I doing this right? I'm not sure about that first ATTACK tag. Does wrestling work there? I didn't think grip_strike would work well. The attack verb and priority can also be adjusted for taste.

Also, a vote for a tigerman mayor is a vote for a mayor with no mandates who promises not to eat your babies if you elect him!

This is an interesting point though.

They appear to at least partly have equal rights. They can be elected to office, although you can cram them into cages...

Round two of my water provision adventures. I had made an exploratory shaft to see how many layers of sand before I got to rock, then started digging out a basic room. Then remembered that I wanted a channel across my entrance and in so I could put my well there.

Placed my channel designation OVER the down stair.

I now have a large room full of water. Praise the miners!

However, my non DF playing little sister suggested a aquatic rehab, so hey! Not a complete loss. Just have to get my beds made and gather food so I can work on pumps and stuff.

Oh, crap. FP part two. That save got trashed when I was fixing my busted raws.

DF Modding / Graphics working on all creatures but two.
« on: November 13, 2010, 10:38:19 pm »
Ok. I made a pair of creatures and a civ to go with one a ways back, and just got them rebuilt to current version. I had the sprite sheet and graphics_example from an earlier version, checking that there weren't any new formatting traps I'd missed and tweaking them, so I put them into my .17 graphics folder and to my wondering eyes, found that all the sprites showed up but my personal modded ones. I get the raw assigned "f" instead.

Dwarves and the like all show up, and I'm basing my new entries on the dwarves. I even took the sprites and reference tags and gave them their own bmp and txt respectfully. There are no differences that I can see with the dwarves and my mod other then some missing jobs and the like, but the defaults are set at the minimum, they should be showing up.

What cracks me up is the first time attempting fixes, I found both the file name and [OBJECT:GRAPHICS] missing from the top of the txt, AND the bmp was saved as a 256 color, not a 24 bit. Still no dice after fixing that garbage.

EDIT: Well, durp. Turns out I was assigning non existent tiles. the row tiles go from 0 to 4 and I was assigning row 5.  All fixed!  ::)

Great tune. If I had slightly more feel for the pacing of the lyrics, I might be able to dredge up a bad accent myself, at least as a backup singer or something, if that ever gets organized.

This sounds vaguely like the AI director from L4D. If I'm understanding right, you are designing a game within a game. Or at least designing a scripted level. When you complete this masterwork achievement, I would be honored to have the opportunity to grace it's halls with my adventurers blood.

A mood could also make it marginally less likely that the pregnant mother or newly newborn would get stabby-stabbed. I would also find it amusing. However, I think I could see some downsides. What is the RL gestation time for dorfs? I don't know if you'd want the mood to last the whole time, maybe just near the end.

What about nerf training weapons?

You have a Crossbow and some of the newer stuff has swords and axes and the like. The trick is where do you get the materials? Should they be added as minerals to dig up, or do you make them out of something preexisting?

72
Same here. I have a custom civ with drawn sprites and the creature_example rigged with the same format as the rest of them but their sprites are a no show.

Everything else looks to be there... but the cats and dogs might not be.

The easiest way is a "starvation chamber."

Build a lever in a small room. Set the lever's profile to only allow the CAT LOVER to pull it. Order the lever to be pulled, and set it to repeat. Put a door in the doorway to the room. Once your moron is happily occupied flipping the lever back and forth, lock the door. Then, just wait.

If the dwarf has any friends or family, you definitely want to make a coffin available to prevent unhappy thoughts resulting from lack of a proper burial.

Because, of course, no one minds them being locked in a room until they starve.

DF Modding / Re: Zombie Mod: version 0.91 Now With WORKING Graphics!

.... when is this gunna be updated to the new version of DF seriously i cant play this outdated crap.

 :o
This "outdated crap" is someone's hard work and time. The newest version of DF came out... two days ago?

Can you mod? I had a smallish civ mod I made several versions back and just looking at the new features and RAW stuff I'll have to do to get it back up to speed is intimidating. I don't want to think of the work something like this will take.

Be patient, ok? I'm sure they are busy.

It wouldn't be a Dwarven masterpiece without something randomly unrelated on there, like cheese or socks.
