I have an old copy of "C++ for Dummies" floating around here somewhere. That was a good intro book.
Yes yes yes, the dummies books are highly recommended for stuff like this. Also, you really shouldn't try starting with c++, c# is much more user friendly from what I've seen.
I found C++ For Dummies to be a poor book. They give you code and then you have to deconstruct it to tell what it's doing. It may explain what a FOR loop is, but it won't explain what the syntax does.

Atheism is a non-prophet organization.

I just noticed the nazi symbol on Europe turns into L blocks.

Yeah, it's been linked a few times now, but it's still great.

I find myself singing it at work all the time.  I work for UPS, stacking boxes in trucks.  Every night, I have to suppress the urge to shout "I am the man who arranges the blocks!" or "pointless work for pointless pay", and I'd love to have a t-shirt for it.
I also have a job arranging the blocks, which descend upon me from the conveyor. I take them down, and I spin them around, trying to find the accursed SKU.

I am the man who arranges the stacks, but each night I go home to my dog in tears, "What's the point of it all when you're building a wall and into the truck it disappears."

As for part of the application process, I now have to find someone with a scanner connected to a computer so I can hand-sign my fourty page background check.

On a related note, I'm now told I must become financially independent for everything except the house bill, and with the temp job ending, I'm in a crunch and a rush for a new job.

The makes me happy, because I'm starting to wear the pants, so to speak, but it would be a lot less stressful if I had $300-500 to aid the transition process. If I get the Homeland Security job, compared to some entry-level job, I can start doing the things I've been dying to do for the past three years. At heart, I'm really not a video game kind of person.

For the mean time, this has also made me happy.

Dammit why don't we have that in Sweden

You guys get all that specialised teaching stuff. Me wants.
No you don't.

The US is above Britian there, HA!
Perhaps we somehow trump their life expectancy or something?

I had a great workout today. I usually go with a friend, but today I swapped bench presses with dumbbell presses so I don't need a spotter.

Wait, 30 mins of.. Exercise?.. In a day?... That's.. Erm.. Ehm.. Urm.. Okay.  :o
Edit: After the initial shock, here are some tips: While jogging, do not stop. I repeat, DO NOT STOP. The speed does not matter much at first. Just have a good pace that you are OK with and try to atleast run for 40 mins.  :). Also, don't walk, even if it's slow jogging, it's better than walking.
Heaven forbid you take a minute and drink some water...
Having a fast heart rate is what I think you're trying to say.

Not really, as I can run 3000 meters in 12 minutes.
With enough practice, you can run pretty durn fast. The thing is though, about aerobic fitness, you have to work out every day. A common saying is that for every two weeks you miss, you lose a month of training.

My record for the two mile (3200m) is 11:41, personally.
Ew, yeah it degrades very quickly. Weight training degrades fast too if you let your diet slip.

The operation cardio thread in creative projects may give you some advice for what you want to do. It's dead, but still informative.

I'm happy that the "Atheists" thread has been derailed to the "cheeses!" thread.

<insert cheese related pun>
I always knew that thread was kind of cheezy.
Holy Cheese!

Yesterday I had some popcorn chicken. Shortly after finishing it, I asked myself, "why do I keep buying this?"

After the headache went away, I had a really good day. I didn't feel anxiety when I went out, I got a lot done, and I played Civ 5 at a friend's.

What could be a better normal day than to accomplish things, go out and meet people, and have some game-playing time.

Having a sleep schedule and not drinking caffeine makes all the difference for me. I sleep when I'm supposed to, and I have the productive part of the day to work on things I want to do.

After many painful failures on my part, I made some promises about certain things, promises that I would never do certain things again.

I lied.

More on this later.  I will elaborate once preparations are finished (Rather than elaborating now, and doing the preparations later, which is the better part of my problems)
I'm vaguely telling all of you that vague things may vaguely happen, and more on these vague developments will be disclosed at some vague time.
