Nah, this is a scripted encounter, not a random one. Don't take the money.

Nope, it's just destroying all Alien Bases in the world. A pretty tall order, as the Main base has 15 main units and 5 terrors, split between all researched races, and any constructed have 17+4 of the race that built 'em.

Aren't they the nameless mooks from the beginning of Mobile Suit: Gundam? I was never a fan of those as they seemed to be made of tissue paper and prayers.

Mobile Suit: Gundam is pretty much the only Mecha Anime I've got round to watching. If they turn up in other series and become more badass, then I apologise.

I think a human in Personal armour can take a single Alien 'Nade, so a Muton will walk out of the smoke cloud looking at worst slightly singed. You'll likely be looking at 3-5 for a kill. I can't imagine Heavy Rockets will do much more than cover a Muton in smoke.

Other things we've discovered are that Chryssalids are no longer an Instakill on humans; their attack actually has to kill the Human with damage to turn him into a Zombie. This meant a lucky escape for Orb's Captain, as Flying Armour can block 3-4 hits from a Chryssie, and I only had the TU for 2.

Also, Celatids are awesome. Orb tried for the BB again, and both Celatids were in position to Reaction Fire people coming out of the Ranger. 4 Casualties in quick succession, and it's dust-off time. Just wish the numbers weren't random; Silacoids are awful in comparison.

I did consider Greatsword, but I love my Sword+Axe combo too much. Running into a group and hitting Whirling Axe+For Great Justice is awesome. And having a Rifle for snaring high level enemies and then running away as they bleed to death is also awesome.

He did look absolutely awesome. And he dropped a bunch of green level 14 gear for us, which means I'm going to become a whirling dervish of destruction as soon as I gain a level.

I found he rarely attacked you if you were under him. A few rocks to dodge, the occasional purple aura of painful death (I couldn't avoid those things worth a damn), but much less than you get fighting him from the front.

I've had one of those boss battles, although most of the difficulty came from the fact it was a level 15 area and we were all 10-12. Brilliant fun, however, and I got a fairly sweet rifle and staff from it,  which are now free to a good home. I recommend hanging around the swamp in Kryta, there's a ludicrously awesome boss appears there on occasion.

I'm on Petrified Forest - EU, playing Aurora Belliqua, Human Warrior with Rifle, although I'm putting exp into all the weapon combinations so I'll be more flexible later. Sword and Mace is my secondary, mainly for the vulnerability attack the mace gives.

Loads of fun.

You do need the live alien to get Psi, yes. But, as that I haven't researched Ethereals, they currently don't exist. Only high ranking sectoids have Psi, and none of my sectoid crews have a Leader/Commander. He might be able to get them by hitting the Cydonia supply ship in a little while, but that's currently staffed by Mutons. No idea if/when Ethereals turn up on that.

And the Battleship's full of Mutons, with a couple of Silacoids and Celatids thrown in for good measure. We had a small battle (Cut short by crashes), and Mutons being excellent at everything meant I lost one to random placement, he lost a Tank to painfully accurate Heavy Plasma/Celatid fire, and one Personal Armour'd soldier to pursuit. In addition, Mutons being as armoured as a Power Suit and with 2.5x Human Health, even a full turn of long range laser fire didn't bother the recipient.

Mutons are seriously engame, however. I only have them because my Abductors seem to be invisible to Radar. Also, they eat 2x as much food as snakemen, so each mission that BB goes on costs me 44 food.

I agree, the Askold looks like a solid choice.

I vote Katia; the range and dodging boost will be much more useful on a Real Robot than Armour is, and while I like the movement boost, I feel it loses out to range.

Another 1-0 victory! I kicked off in the first half, which promptly devolved into a squabble on the halfway line, each team jumping on anyone who looked like picking up the ball. Injuries were sustained on both sides (For a change), with the Orcs picking up a serious concussion for a linesman and a Pinched Nerve on the Thrower, the Ogres got a dead snotling and I can't remember what else. I was playing 1d and occasionally -2d blocks a lot, the majority of which went my way (Including one on a caged snotling ball carrier, where I rerolled to get 2 defender downs. That felt good.), pushing Ogres out of the way and snotlings into the way (Curse side step! Curse it!).

Receiving in the second half meant I got about half way into Alstar's territory before the meat grinder started up again (And KO'd my secondary Gobbo, who had the ball at the time :I). Morru the Blitzer and Tuffgang the Gobbo, with their MA of 6(!) broke away but were promptly clobbered by an Ogre one square away from a TD. Undaunted, Morru got up and blitzed the ogre, pushing his tackle zone off the ball, and Tuffgang promptly made his pickup roll (After fluffing it hilariously earlier and bouncing the ball between members of my team around 10 times) and 2 dodge rolls, scoring the only TD in turn 14.

Alstar figured the only way to salvage the game was by throwing a snotling (With ball) into my endzone, and I almost let him, accidentally kicking the ball out of bounds for my kickoff, but his concerns over accuracy meant he moved forward, where I managed to blitz his ball carrier with a Linesman (Maybe green skin blends in to grass?), and then the way my guys fell over meant he couldn't get another Snotling to pick up the ball and make it to an Ogre to be launched.

Luck was once more firmly on my side, I think.

When I started playing NV (after 3-4 playthroughs of 3), I had 3 problems with it. 1, VATS was no longer the I Win! button it used to be, 2, They changed my beloved hunting rifle! and 3, it seemed to crash/freeze/glitch 3 times as often as FO3 did.

Looking back now, 1 and 2 are kinda stupid things to get hung up on, and the game needed those changes. I practically won FO3 with only Ol' Painless and VATS, they were that good. No. 3's still a problem even now, but that's probably my PS3 being rubbish.

If I get one for PC, it'll be NV. It's a bigger, better game, with better writing and much better balance.
Lots of 3s in this post.

I've taken Ethereals out with standard guns and smoke. They've got pretty low HP, middling armour and a 20%? damage reduction, I believe. Stun damage works well, and damage ramp-up from being close means even a Pistol can take one down with a point blank auto burst.

Mutons are harder (to kill, but not to beat), but I've beaten Muton terror missions with Lasers before. Again, close range/point blank fire wins. Heavy weapons ignore/bypass some armour, along with having higher damage, so the Heavy Lasers are pretty handy there.

It'll be much harder vs a Human player, however.
