Margit is a famously tough boss that people (especially people for who its their first soulslike) get stuck on. If you are having too much trouble don't worry about it. Explore elsewhere and get stronger then come back a bit later and see if you can handle him (rinse and repeat till you beat him).

If you are having a bunch of trouble on a boss though (like Margit) just use a summon if you want to, there are enough of them you don't need to worry about running out plus you can craft more using a very common item forever. So you can run literally the entire game (where you are allowed to have a summon) with a bro or two if you feel like it.

I'll sign up for Zero Ranger on the 31st then. You sold it pretty well, and just as importantly the "Overwhelmingly positive" rating sold it as well.
Please read the rules. j/k added. But seriously, I need your Steam handle.
Hurm, wasn't quite sure how to sign up but of course the information is in the opening post. :/

Impressive! Like with Factorio, I really want to like Dyson Sphere Program but tend to get overwhelmed by the sheer everything there is to do. I'm pretty sure I'm at least six hours into my current file and haven't even left the starting planet yet.
I feel the need to stress how not normal that time is for me. Being 6 hours in and still on the starting planet is completely fine, because as you say, there is just a shit load to do and figuring out what/how to do it takes hours and hours and hours

My run was also very much not speedrunning kosher, and was done in segments of me spending like 45 minutes putting all the shit together in a copied world, then putting it down the exact same way in the first world in like 5-10 minutes (posssibly cheating using blueprints), then copying the world again and doing the exact same thing.
I did this 21(!) times by the end of the game.

The biggest piece of advice I can give is to make a area at the start that makes every early-mid building and generic building material. Seriously, it saves so so much time and mental effort being able to just walk over and grab literally whatever you need.
---
But yeah, I eventually just give up as well. Typically this is around as far as I get in DPS and I haven't gotten much past beating the game in factorio.

Given the state of the Russian military it might be sufficient...but probably isn't. Better that we not test it for real.
I would be extremely suprised if either A) All of the nukes worked (because lol Russian military upkeep), or B) None of the nukes worked (because Putin's ego).

If putin pressed the button and only like 50 (of of 1600 nukes that are armed and active) nukes came shooting out of their silo I would go "Yup, sounds about right" and not be suprised at all.

The thing is that even if we intercept 90% of those 50 nukes and 5 get through the night would still end with putin killing 50 million people + however many russians die in the counterattack.
Obviously even those super low numbers are way too many deaths to be acceptable, so...

I dont know, if I can read Playboy for the articles I should be allowed to stream Rance for the strategy
There... there is a strategy?
Not sure about Rance, but I know that there are quite a few japanese eroges (H-games) that are actually good complex strategy/whatever games worth playing even if you ignore the whole H-part.
Indeed, some of them such as the original Fate games are games that you can legit say that you are "playing it for the story".

We should have some standards. "Porn go on the back shelves" has always been an agreeable one to me.
We don't apply that standard to literature even a little, heh. Smut (usually somewhat disguised, but occasionally just... not) is one of the best selling sorts of books and they're often by the checkout aisle or whatever in major stores, displayed prominently in libraries, hit bestseller lists, etc. If we applied our general standards on the subject to games, those rather innocent seeming ones would be right at home :P

... of course, by those standards, Rance level stuff would probably be fine, too. Fifty Shades was a wildly popular book for a while and it was roughly as bad as Rance, if in somewhat different ways. Gaming's arguably held itself to a higher standard than we expect from several other sorts of media, which is probably why it was a wtf to see GOG displaying what it was.

===

anyway, yeah, congrats putnam. Now we have someone to blame for DF issues that isn't a site admin :Di joke, i joke... mostly :V
I mean, the stuff in Fifty Shades was completely consentual BDSM (albeit with a bit skewed power dynamics) stuff, its wildly less problematic then straight up the good guy being an unrepentant rapist.

But that isn't the real bad part about Steam having porn on it.

Seriously steam, WTF, why do you insist on broadcasting it to all their friends whenever people play porn games.

Beat Dyson Sphere Program in 9:22, which gave me the beat the game achievement (6.4% of people), beat it under 25 hours (0.7%) and beat it under 10 hours (0.6%).

It uh... took ages to manage (50+ hours probably) thanks to prep time and me failing on my first attempt but I finally got it done with over half a hour to spare (with most of the last 40 minutes being me just flying around in space waiting for things to finish up).

Spoiler: Aw yeah (click to show/hide)

One common refrain of nonsense I heard many times from Trumpists was their delusion that "the army supports us". I'd rather this not be truth in 10-20 years.
I mean, the reason the army didn't like him wasn't because they were too smart to see through his lies or their devotion to democracy was so rock hard that they would always oppose his coup attempts, it was because he was an asshole to them.

Literally all DT 2.0 has to do is say some nice things about the army and not insult war widows or call soldiers losers because they serve and he should have little trouble getting a high amount of support among the rank and file of the army for the simple reason that nationalism plays well with troops.

Him losing support because he's a jerk is especially ironic because DT has been the only president since Lincon who being popular with the army has actually mattered for because nobody else has been in a situation where military support actually matters.

Legal?
Yeah, it seems quite likely that grabbing tens of millions of images to use as training data is legal as long as the images are publicly available.

I could def see the law changing and say, Disney and Getty Images working together to make it illegal to use anything copyrighted for training purposes unless ou own it.

It wouldn't help normal people at all of course, AI art would still be huge and all the normal artists get screwed over anyways and all that would change is the models would suck since they would only be able to use 1/1000th of the stuff out there and you would have to pay 15 bucks per month to disney to use their Mickey+ model.
---
I do feel a lot of sympathy for artists here, because studying for years only to get kicked in the balls by new technology really sucks.
That said, I feel their position of "AI ART IS CRIME AND ANYONE THAT USES IT IS EEEEVVVVVILLL" is kind of stupid.
---
I don't just feel sympathy for artists by the way; but everyone AI is going to replace, which is going to be a hell of a lot of people. Hell, I'm worried that it might be able to replace the entire concept of humans brains having any real value alltogether due to simply being better and/or being OOM cheaper then having a actual human doing something.

But my worry and sympathy doesn't really matter, AI isn't going anywhere and as long as there is profit potential in AI research it won't be stopped just because its a existential threat to the entire human race.

I've been thinking for some time that I want to see a public/national attempt at a social media site. I'm not sure what I want from it in terms of the differences between different social media sites. I just feel like if social media is going to be butting into such a important aspect of people's lives as social media does today, then there is a big argument for not just leaving it to private interests.

I also think a lot about whether it would be good to have nationalised/public "town square marketplace" where people can put up their digital "market stalls" the way fur example amazon enables non-amazon private people to sell through amazon. Basically to prevent the kind of monopolisation amazon do even on independent Internet outlets where amazon's market dominance means that if you aren't selling through amazon you aren't visible to customers.
That already kind of exists; Tiktok.

And not the tiktok that we get here in the USA or most of the world, but the one they get in China, where the government, fully recognizing that social media with no drive other then having an algorithm maximizing engagement is toxic (and a major engine of social change that that they want control of):
1) Limited the daily time spent on it.
2) Artificially controls the topics so that its not 90% dances/whatever by volume and is instead largely educational/patriotic/whatever.

Bought a game on steam that I had some good times at a con playing (towerfall) and that I was super excited to play.

Nooope. Turns out that there is no actual online play, so the 4 player multiplayer game I was excited to play turned into a game that I likely won't ever be able to play.

Probably going to return it. :/

Just as a random question - my family personally has more than a 50% "profit margin" - that is, more than 50% of our income is disposable.  Am I abusing all the people buying my employer's products, or abusing my employer, because I'm pocketing that much?

I'm contributing to price escalation of everything, after all, because I can pay for stuff, so it's not just an isolated phenomenon.
I'm not complaining about their profit, I'm complaining about them going to cry to the government over the issue like they can't just fix it with a tiny amount of their money.

Obviously if they had money flow issues it would be different and they might actually need to cry to the government so the economy doesn't shut down, but it's stuff they could fix trivially without resorting to that.

The obvious solution if there aren't enough people is to pay to train more.
The issue is that is expensive and requires planning for the future. Since American capitalism is a snake that eats its own tail and burns the future for present profits they (and many other businesses like the airlines) don't do that.

The other obvious thing is to not treat them terribly, which many businesses also can't seem to stop doing even to their exceedingly highly trained and skilled workers (eg. Doctors and nurses).

Obviously they think that legally screwing over their workers is easier/cheaper then the above, and they could very well be right.
E: The railroad companies have a profit margin of 50%. 50! It's huge, if they wanted they could easily fix the issue. But it would cost money, so they are playing hardball instead.

Vranyo; I am lying to you, you know I am lying to you, but still I am lying to you
If people reading this haven't watched this video I highly highly recommend it since it explains so much about the war.

If you don't want to watch an entire hour video I'll sumarize it a bit for you. It  basically says that there is systemic lying about everything at every single level of the Russian command structure which is actually a huge huge deal.

The entire reason Putin went into the war? Because people were lying to him.
The reason everyone thought that Russia had a super awesome military? Everyone in the military lying to each other and the press about how awesome it was.

The reason Russia is claiming they killed like 300% of the Ukranian air force and took some towns like ten times? Because people are lying to their boss who lie to their boss who lie to their boss who lies to the media.
---
And currently its resulting in stuff like this, where Russia seems to just zerg rush hundreds of dudes in with no support for no reason because everyone is lying to their commanders and saying that things are going super great so their commanders just smile at the good news and send them in.
