DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Question: Restrict Traffic
« on: June 23, 2011, 03:46:53 pm »
If you're restricting traffic, you've got to provide them with an alternate route that is not restricted. Also, the traffic designations are based on weights, so if the alternate route is still calculated to be longer, they'll path through the restricted- or low-traffic areas. Finally, if the alternate route can't handle the amount of traffic it's taking (i. e., dwarves are heaping up and getting into tangles), some commuters will likely end up repathing through that area.

You can, in your init files, modify the weights used for traffic designations.

You'd have to use the stocks screen, I think.

Mass-designate cages, metal items, et al. for dumping and reclamation. In your stocks screen, remove the dump designation from all the gubble. Otherwise, though, I don't think you can; looking in the cage will only let you see the goblin, and its attributes, not its inventory.

Does the sine moon cause sine tides in the sine waves?

275
I think it's unlikely. I'm pretty sure that a *man camp would have to be underground, you'd have had to claim its stocks (which are forbidden, now, aren't they, when one embarks? Someone?) and those stocks would have to include some food. Seems like a rather convoluted case, albeit I think its possible.

Does your wagon still exist? Did you tear it down with supplies still inside? If so, was it near a murky pool or something of that nature?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: How to bury a dead dwarf.

[ q ] --> Use Coffin for Burial [ y ]

If a dwarf is alive, an installed coffin can be assigned as their tomb. If they've died already, the above.

How about a tantrum spirograph?

278
O! I would much rather have a "pool of liquid" than a "pool of water" that will never, ever be cleaned up.

279
There have been issues in the past with claimed food. That is, a dwarf claims the food he's going to eat, and it so happened that military dwarves would claim food (for provisions, I think), then drop it, then claim more food, then drop it ..... you get the idea.

Is it possible that a dwarf claimed a foodstuff in a now-inaccessible area, was interrupted in his attempt at eating, and is simply now trying to get back to the biscuits?

Also, have you gone into the caverns? I've had some weird path-is-broken-BUT-I-WANT-THAT-SO-BAD issues, myself, in the past. Though for me it involved weavers and "Collect Webs" jobs.

Alternately, if you just want to get those ore stones moved elsewhere, a mass dump would also do the trick.

http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Obsidian Yup. Most people wouldn't notice, not being too into obsidian-farming, or embarking somewhere that already have obsidian ( which automatically turns them green on stone screen, like with flux stones ). A bit annoying, but fix's just a hop around  :D

Yeah, always seems to be the case that an obsidian layer or four turn up on every site I run in Fort mode. Of course, since .31, that's .... three? Perhaps four? I had to get new hardware before I could run this version, so I took a break for some months.

Woah, really?

Bullocks.

Then, agreed.

Check out your ../init/d_init file. There are several autosave features available to choose from.

You can turn on obsidian usage, you'll have to remove the bracket around MAX_EDGE after exiting the game, in the save raw for stones, specificlly the obsidian entry, open the game, mark it green, close the game and add the brackets back so you can make rock shortsword from it, and use it for other stone purposes.

You only need to edit the raws if you want obsidian weaponry — for other purposes,

[ z ] --> Stones

and enable (marking it green) obsidian to allow it for non-economic (stone-specific) purposes.

if you label a metal wrong in  reaction, you get rock bars, if you label wood wrong you get logs. have you been editing reactions, and if so, check your spelling.

Barrels of liquid will turn up in stock .25
