I thought it was possible with trader creatures going insane. Haven't had one of those in a while so can't be sure :D

.... They'll stay alive but get hungry, starve and then die if they don't get out to eat.  Then you'll have a corpse in a cage that, as far as everything I've tried, can't be removed ....


Corpse-cages that land in the "empties" stockpile near my shops generate a "butcher" job, get emptied, and their contents chopped up readily enough. Also, mark the body for dumping and it should get moved to an active dump zone.

edit: early mornings (hah!) and grammar are not good bedfellows for me

which lists language.txt files for a whole bunch of RL languages. But I've not downloaded it to check the entry for English yet.

An artisan with a preference for a product that is made by their trade is very biased toward making the preferred object. I want to say that I've scummed enough to eventually convince a mooding dwarf to make something else, but I don't have handy evidence of such.

I figure the items from DF are basically those. Light gets through, but one's only going to get a rough impression of what's on the outside. Can't say I ever tried to peep in from outside, so I don't know how well they obscured the view inside — at least as well, though.

More information:

Where are your stocks stored? Close proximity to the workshop seems to be vital.

Is the lye still in buckets, rather than barrels. If so, check 'em to see if it's a water-lye mixture, rather than lye alone.

However, if you begin to see designations cancelled due to warm stone, you might wish to have a bit of care. Warm = magma in proximity.
