Ahoy. Mantis says the [graphics: YES] crash bug has been fixed.

Confirmation? May I go to my Maydaying?

It actually appears that the "resolved" bug was merely closed as it was a duplicate of another entry.

This link leads to the "official" issue.

Roll To Dodge / Re: The Rising Empire

Nimitz heroically rushes towards the burning, wrecked house, pulling some debris away as he kicks open the front door (5). Inside, he sees Aelreth, barely clinging to life (3).

"Help..." he whimpers.

Saragoth runs past Nimitz, barelling into the house and pulling madly at Aelreth (6). However, the dwarf's legs are still stuck, and the pulling seems to knock him unconscious.

Lisaca also rushes in, manages to free Aelreth's legs (5), and the three pull him out of the burning house together. As they do so, it collapses completely.

Stan'la attempts to perform a sonic fife blast, but mud has clogged his instrument and he fails (2+1=3).

ExKirby waits for the werewolf to attack (2), dodging expertly away as he does so (4+1=5). He then draws back and throws a mighty punch at the flaming undead beast, connecting squarely and knocking off its burning head, which flies through the air and lands squarely on Aelreth, lighting his beard on fire (6).

A calm falls over the battlefield, save for the flickering flames creeping up the dwarf's beard.

With the house teetering, Lisaca lifts four pillars of earth to support it (1+1=2). The pillars promptly knock the house over. The party hears cries and crushing noises, as it is rather clear Aelreth is very injured (1).

Saragoth starts whomping on the undead werewolf with his staff (4), but the werewolf dodges easily (6). However, its dodge moves it away from Stan'la.

Given the opening, Stan'la stumbles down the hill after his fife, which he finds easily (6). However, he is about to pick it up when he realizes that a wild boar is sitting right next to it, and looking quite angry.

Nimitz lines up a shot, and with incredible accuracy fires the arrow straight through its flaming head (6+1=7) despite its attempt to dodge (3). The fiery arrow continues through its head and strikes the wreckage of the house, setting it aflame. Aelreth is very most certainly dead now, but the undead werewolf seems to be relatively functional still.

ExKirby hums and dances with a great amount of skill (5), which attracts the attention of the werewolf and scares off the wild boar near Stan'la. Stan'la picks up his fife.

The werewolf launches itself at ExKirby, missing completely (2). It skids to a stop just short of the flaming house.

Saragoth casts a head burning spell at the werewolf attacking Stan'la, striking it dead on (4+1=5) despite its attempts to dodge (3). The beast's head bursts into flames (4), and it runs around for a moment before collapsing to the ground, dead.

Stan'la, undettered by the fact that his attacker is dead, plays a fife tune to control it (5+1=6). The werewolf instantly re-animates as a zombie werewolf. It pulls out its own heart (3+1=4), but is over-enthusiastic and simply throws its heart at the other monster (5+1=6).

Lisaca attempts to jump out of the house, and manages to squeeze out a window as the building creaks mightily (3).

Nimitz jumps towards the living werewolf, landing on its back (4). He pulls back his bow to deliver a killing shot, and (5+1=6) shoots an arrow straight through its skull and towards ExKirby, who barely dodges out of the way (2+1=3).

ExKirby punches the dying werewolf for good measure (4), and connects squarely.

The undead, heartless werewolf turns against its fife-wielding controller, swiping at him with its unholy claws (5). Stan'la dives out of the way (6), but his fife rolls off down the hill, lost for the moment.

Enemy Status
Werewolf 1 - Undead, no heart, head on fire, attacking Stan'la
Werewolf 2 - DEAD, Arrow through head
Werewolf 3 - DEAD, Impaled on giant earthen spike

I hadn't considered how to include dodging before. Kind of stupid of me, considering that this is a roll to dodge. I will take that into account going forward and have a dodge roll for all characters that are hit.

Lisaca prepares to fire a giant spike up from the ground at the last werewolf, which she easily does (6+1=7). The werewolf is impaled and instantly dies (5), but the spike is too large and also brushes up against the house, further destabilizing it (3). One more hit and this house is going over.

The werewolf attacking Aelreth is impaled on a spike of earth, which also subsequently blocks the door of the house. Saragoth, deciding that now would be a good time to get out of the creaky house, opens a window and shimmies out (5).

Stan'la plays his fife and attempts to control the werwolves further, but the death of their companion snaps them out of their trance, and one of them turns on him (1+1=2). ExKirby's humming fares no better (2), and simply draws the attention of the other werewolf.

Nimitz attempts another shot with his bow, which he successfully fires. However, his aim is off and the shot wizzes by the werewolf's kneecap (2+1=3).

The werewolf attacking Stan'la strikes a glancing blow on him, but doesn't really get his claws to sink in and causes no real damage (3). The other leaps at ExKirby (6), knocking him over and causing him to tweak his ankle when he lands (2). However, the force of his charge throws him off ExKirby, and he is unable to follow up with any particularly evil mauling.

Werewolf 1 - Smoke-filled lungs, attacking Stan'la
Werewolf 2 - Injured shoulder, attacking ExKirby

Stany - In light of all your fife-related accomplishments, I'll allow it.

Also, I'm working on a rudimentary HP system that I'll explain in the next post.

Lisaca concentrates on continuing the wall of earth, which she easily does (4+1=5).

Stan'la pulls out the fife again and lays down an "attack Aelreth" kind of groove(4), with ExKirby joining in with overenthusiastic harmonies (6). Miraculously, the fife seems to make creatures do what he wants, and the werewolves turn as one and pounce at Aelreth.

Saragoth attempts to hide in the house (4). He jumps behind Aelreth and casts a fire spell at the werewolves, attempting to burn their lungs out (3+1=4). The lead wolf falls over and begins to retch up smoke, but he is still alive.

Nimitz pulls back his bow, readying a mighty shot, but he fails to properly nock the arrow and it spins off his bow ineffectually (1+1=2). Despite his skill with the bow, he is having almost no luck with it.

Aelreth, standing in the doorway, takes a swing at the first werewolf to reach him with his hammer, and connects on its shoulder (3+1=4), sending the beast stumbling back.

The last werewolf readies a mighty blow at the dwarf, but misjudges the size of the doorjam, and smacks it instead, tearing off a major beam on the house (6). The house creaks mightily, but remains standing (5).

Werewolf 1 - Smoke-filled lungs
Werewolf 2 - Injured shoulder
Werewolf 3 - Normal

Tilesets and Graphics / Re: Ironhand's Graphics Set
« on: May 17, 2010, 06:52:45 am »
For what it's worth, leaving graphics off and just setting the font file to the graphics set bmp is working (mostly) for me, using Mayday.  The tiles all work, but the dwarfs are slightly simplified.  Mouse designation is also working fine for me.

Found this in the thread on .04... also, Baughn seemed to think that the graphics issue might be solved shortly, so that's good!

Great news! Hopefully these issues will get sorted out relatively quickly and we can all start testing out this new tile set!

Alarmed by the noises, Lisaca attempts to to raise a protective wall of earth (3+1=4), which easily shields the group from any surprise attacks.

Saragoth grabs a medium-sized stick and lights the end on fire (3+1=4), providing the group with some light.

ExKirby, seemingly in his own little world, dances to his humming (4). It's a fine dance.

Stan'la explodes in a fit of emotion, putting on a mourning ritual for Loki fit for a king (5). Despite a rising urge to go berserk, he manages to contain his feelings and express them in a beautiful interpretive dance to ExKirby's humming (5).

Saragoth and Nimitz approach the cottage cautiously (4), not drawing any attention, while Nimitz keeps an eye out for the source of the noises without any luck (2).  Saragoth knocks on the door, and is surprised when it is flung open quickly (3).

Aelreth, a dwarf caked in the dust of years of mining, appears before them wielding a hammer. "Are you crazy?!? There are werewolves about!"

In fact, there are. As the dwarf speaks, three werewolves spring from their hiding places and menacingly eye the party.
