think you can't do anything with tamed animal corpses... aside from using their bones/skulls. (pets you can bury though..)

got me a question

are the dumb soldiers still sparring in a sleeping barracks filled with beds... thus waking everyone and their dogs up?

... similarly.. are the soldiers wandering off to sleep in a barracks with no beds.. where everyone else are sparring?

i rememeber someone mentioning that they can find the outline of the river by drawing a stockpile into the unexplored area..

it looks like you can do something similar with gathering plants.. in that you can select plants to be gathered, even if you can't see them yet.

pick is unarmed.. weapon preference doesn't last anyway.. it changes according to jobs (or item) your dwarves have been doing/having

what.. the shield thing?.. didn't i give you a save file with 10 or so shields equipped?  right at the start of the game?

just start a cheat game (... ps.. did you make that harder?.. grrh) with a whole bunch of shields and tell one of your dwarves to equip shields..

and he'll (eventually) grab them all

i don't know.. all i know is that i bought 2 cages. then i saw 2 new animals. a mule and a cow. then i got the messages and saw said items on the floor in the same tile as the cage.

so presumably the caged mule was lugging that stuff

a few months later, puppies born + trained

and now you can see stray wardogs showing up in the animal screen to be toggled....

slight problem... once i continue after saving the wardogs are no longer in the animal screen...

for some reason, stray wardogs no longer show up in the animal (adoption) screen.

it did show up before when there were stray puppies.. not exactly sure when it stopped showing.. all i know is that some hunting dog died (of old age... the 2nd one to have done so, along with a wardog and a cat) either before or after.. and that all the puppies were grown to dogs and trained. (game world generated + started under 101d, played under 104.19d +104.21a.. don't think it has anything to do with the change from 19d to 21a either.

i'm guessing the idea is that it's meant to be possible to assign dogs+puppies, but not wardogs/hunting dogs from that screen


the 2nd weird thing is this message i got..

blahblah mule(tame) cancels store item in stockpile: too injured
(also store item in bin)
the mule is a new pet.. and i think the animal came from the dwarven merchants.. i just bought 2 cages.. didn't check if anything was inside 1st though.

a look at the animal didn't shown item or wounds.

just had a look at where one of the new cages is.. and on that tile are a bunch of goods that i didn't buy.. so i guess the mule in the cage was carrying those items and that's what it was unloading.. weird stuff

wonder if i got them for free or if it's included with the price of the cage.

...
incidentally... i can see my trappers grabbing armors and placing them on the floor in his bedroom.. would putting an armor stand/weapon rack in there help? do i need to set them to accept everything? (doesn't really make sense to have to set it, to be honest)

strangely.. i think once i assigned a room to a dwarf.. he then for some reason slept in the barracks or something and claimed it, ditching his old room.

could just be in my dreams..

funniest thing is that they like to move the barrels/bin in the furniture pile.. when they are FULL

which takes ages compared to a pretty much empty bin/barrel.

not related..  i can't read most of the entries in workshops if they have long names.. like green glass..

maybe there should be submenus of some sort.. with the material stated at the top.. and then the individual items will just say what they are.. like vials instead of green glass vials.
