DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Your badass dorfs?

The problem with finding badassery in DF, is that the standard is so damn high.

My Dorf pales in comparison.
There was a troll in my fort. Only slightly injured from when he fought my woodcutter. He killed about 6 dorfs. My Miner walked up wile the troll was pummeling a dyer, or something, and drove his pick through the troll's skull, killing it in one hit. He then promptly went back to work.

General Discussion / Re: Installing JavaDK
« on: December 16, 2010, 06:11:28 pm »
That's weird, JDK + Netbeans works fine here. It may be a problem with 64 bit systems, but I can't check that.

But I'm on a 32-bit OS? Are you? Or are you on 64-bit?

EDIT: I installed the netbeans/JDK package, and it works fine, but the Java in my browser (Example: Minecraft) no longer works.

General Discussion / Installing JavaDK

(Not sure if this is the right place to post this, to be honest. I'll move it if needed.)

Hi. I'm trying to install the Java development kit onto my PC, but I've hit problems. Whenever I download it from the Oracle Website, it installs fine. However, I can't get it to boot up correctly. Furthermore, it stops java from working at all on my computer. (That really hurts my Minecraft addiction) Does anyone know how to get it running?

Computer Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium

Processor: AMD Athalon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2.00 GHz
memory (RAM): 3454 MB (3.37 GB)
System type: 32-bit Operating System

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Broken Axles

Wait... I have a gear assembly on the bottom z-level. Do I need to have the axle below and the gear above?

DF Gameplay Questions / Broken Axles

Hi, I have a question.
This is my first time to use axles, and as such, I have problems. I need to move the power down one Z-level. Now I'm confused. When I put the vertical axle in, it doesn't power the screwpump below, yet the rest of the axles are still powered. Why?

I quite like all of these things. Though, I hope Peat can eventually be pressed into bricks, dried, and used as fuel.

This.
Just for the sheer hillarity of such a happy tune playing while killing gobbos/elves, and ripping off a noble's head.

May I say this? Conch shells are the homes of Conch (Duhhh) Which are highly delicious and nutritious.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Re: D&D: The Mercenaries - Not on Hiatus

Question:
If I have never played D&D before, and don't own any sort of source book, Is there any room for a Chaotic Neutral Rouge? (In other words: could I be put in line?)
Would I just fill in a Char sheet? (Though, someone would have to help me figure out what dice to roll in what places, ect.)
In all likelyhood, I'd just be inexperienced dead weight. Though, as DF proves, a kitten can kill a hydra with enough lucky dice rolls.

DF Gameplay Questions / Memorials Vs. Coffins

Seriously, what's the advantages? I know the memorials are useful for dwarves who met !!Magma!! But, other than that, do they have any bonuses?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Questions dealing with quests.

I found that if you ask the same person for a quest over and over, they will give you different quests.

Well, I had a fairly good campaign, killing a bunch of Monsters, but...
I did get a single dagger 59 kills in a single night... The village didn't know what hit it...
