Honestly the amount of survivability you get from tiering up armor is so marginal its silly.

Really how you use armor is more important than how good it is numerically.  Either using spaced armor by building layers that aren't touching each other or by 'tri-forcing,' which is deliberately directing how damage travels through the craft by how each block is connected to one another.

Wow, this game might actually be worth playing again.
you still have to grind endlessly to BUY those parts, tho.

The amount of free to play games without some sort of inflated grind is quite small.

Unicorn Stump (temporary invuln you can't shoot in) + Midas Touch (Contact damage that scales with money, and things killed with it drop money)

And then I got Mom's Knife, which I could also use while stump'd.

In another run I had gotten a good handful of damage ups and 3 dollar bill, which is apparently a lot stronger now.
