I didn't really like TIS-100, it felt too much like work, so I'll probably skip this one.

I just want to see more cool stuff like Spacechem.  That is by far my favorite game by that guy.    Infinifactory wasn't bad, but somehow I think it wasn't quite as fun.

All my retirement money is in the economy, so I'm hoping it doesn't die or else I'll have to work forever.   :P

I really can't wait for basic income to be a thing though.  I'll probably be retired before it happens, but it sure would be nice for people.

I think another thing that might completely fuck with the economy is if 3d printers(or maker machines or whatever) get more advanced and more generalized.  If you can just make most things you need at home, suddenly there isn't a huge need for a lot of advertising or shops.

Yeah, I remember liking Psycho Pass for the most part.  :)  It might be worth saying I actually don't mind sexual themes, its just that in prettty much any anime I've seen it always comes of as pandering to me(or the supposed target 14-year old horny Japanese teenager), rather than being an actual part of the story.

Yeah, I tend more towards animated stuff(anime and western stuff) just because I find it more fun in general than live-action stuff.  I do watch live action stuff, but mostly just marvel superhero shows (looking forward to new season of Agents of Shield).   :P

Thanks for the list Reelya, a few of those looked interesting and I've added them to my list.

One Punch Man? Mob Psycho 100? One Piece may be lumped in with Bleach and Naruto as "the big three" but it's the only one worth watching, Bleach is pretty, Naruto had some neat characters but bashes them with a plothammer of stupid, One Piece is weird but great fun. Maria the Virgin Witch deserves a mention due to the AMAZING accuracy of their armor and weaponry, to the point where diehard middle ages reenactors and such point it out. Nanatsu no Taizai is a lot of fun, though it has the groping and such, if you know the backstory of DB well enough then DBSuper is a lot of fun as it goes back to the earlier series feel in many well appreciated ways, if you aren't up on the backstory I'd suggest watching the Abridged version of DBZ, it's more fun if you aren't already a DBZ fan, I'm still irked about some of the wonky models in the new Berserk but goddamn it isn't like I'm gonna stop watching it, though I wish it had the CG budget of Sidonia no Kishi.

The ones I haven't seen and will check out are:

Mob Psycho 100
Maria the Virgin Witch

And I totally forgot there was a new Berserk.  I should check that out too.

I'm also a sucker for One Piece, I've been watching it for ages despite violating most of my preferences.

The thing is, in Japan, sex sells. A lot. A lot a lot a lot. And Japan is very adam smith about how they do business, so what happens is the marketplace is saturated with fanservicy crap all the time because that's what sells the most copies.

I've noticed.  I wish they'd just be happy making porn of stuff after the fact, rather than inserting it into everything though. :\  I like my stories to be stories and my porn to be porn.

I had a friend in Univeristy who started having seizures.  The doctor who saw her wrote down that she was faking it for attention in her records, which got passed to each new doctor she saw.  It took like four years until she found one doctor who ignored it and was like "Oh yeah you probably have epilepsy" and gave her actual medication that made her better.  :|

I don't have a lot of trust for doctors anymore either.  All the ones I've gone too for minor stuff always seem like they are trying to rush me out and aren't terribly helpful.

On a more serious topic... why not Samurai Champloo? (wait is that its name?... I think I got it wrong)

Yeah, that is the name.  Its actually one of my favorites, but sadly I've seen it.   Its a perfect example of what I'm looking for though.  Not very tropey(probably not a word), just a cool story about two samurai and a girl with fun fight scenes.

I know good anime exists, its just I always end up watch 10 or 15 bad ones until I find one that is decent.  I need a magic computer that watches stuff first and filters out the crap  for me.  :D

I think my process for picking stuff to watch might be flawed.  I see an animated gif on Imgur with helicopters ripping medieval soldiers to shreds, and I automatically assume I want to watch it.

Anybody have any recommendations for anime that meets this criteria?
- Main character isn't a boring high-school loser who somehow has great stuff happen to him all the time.
- Nobody trips and falls and lands on a girls boobs or any other lame tropes like that.
- Not a harem anime, and doesn't have (implied or otherwise) incest, kiddy-molestation/etc.
- Has action.
- The main character doesn't narrate every frickin thing he does.
- Not too dumbed down for an audience who doesn't pay attention.
- Has a story that progresses.

Well damn.  I really enjoyed it at the start, with the whole modern military VS fantasy military theme.  I swear its like pulling teeth trying to find anime I like sometimes.

Gah...

Does Gate turn into a harem anime?  I'm a few episodes in and it started so strong.

I find Melatonin works well for me, but it doesn't seem to help my roommate at all.  I usually just take it if I slept badly the previous  night, since my insomnia tends last multiple nights.

Edit:

But it also makes it 3x more difficult to get up in the morning.

Gah, can confirm.  I think its still worth it though.  :)

That was a really fun episode.  The ending bits totally cracked me up.
