Curses / What does skill 138/4 mean in LCS?
« on: March 30, 2010, 01:01:35 pm »
OK, I get the 138 part means that I have a total of 138 skill points... but what does the second number mean?

BTW, my new ambition is to master as many skills as possible with my founder... he can then go teach them to everyone else. Heh heh heh.

A liberal athlete has comparable stats to that at 1000 juice, grimith. What's most impressive were his stats way back at 0 juice...

Start with 40 attribute points. For each attribute type, subtract the minimum of 4 or whatever the base value for that creature type is. So for most creatures that have starting values of 1, this means they end up with 12 points to distribute between the attribute types up to a cap of 10 (before juice, by the way). These points are then randomly assigned to the attributes, with "opposite" attributes (heart for conservatives, wisdom for liberals) one seventh as likely as "favoured" attributes, and one quarter as likely as any other attributes. If an assignment would push the attribute above its cap, it is re-rolled. In practice this means the average attribute score is slightly less than five.
Wait, your math seems weird. Don't you mean that a creature with 1 minimum has 40-7=33 points to distribute? And isn't that an average of 40/7= 5.7? Or am I reading you wrongly?
Also, what happens to characters like Athletes? I'm pretty sure I've seen athletes whose base stats total up to more than 40. How does that work?

Does closing down the police station reduce heat or something??? It seemed to in my recent game.

Successully, and EASILY completed this challenge. Converting takes a little longer. So what. It's not like pressing the W button loses you anything.
I didn't bother with changing apartments or whatever. I just parked everyone in the meat plant. THE WHOLE GAME.

As it turns out... Enlightened Black Belts and Yoga Dancers and such are the best fighters EVUH. Because... Enlightened are immune to persuasion attacks!!! GOOD GRIEF!!! So Enlightened are actually better at combat than non-enlightened!

Shooting up the Ministry of Love strongly affects Military Spending Issue.
Also, a plain vanilla killing spree is the fastest way to influence the issues and win the game. Try killing 5 people a day for 5 days, in any location. That location's related issues will go from 0% to 100%, pretty much guaranteed.

Yeah, instant arrests happen sometimes. I think it's when your juice is too low. BTW, prostitution drops your juice.

I would like another page of High Scores. AFAIK, most roguelikes have a very long high score page list, right? LCS should have a much much longer high score list. Why? Because take ADOM for example... it probably takes like 50-100 hours of gameplay to finish one run, right? Longer? Well, how about LCS? ... I think that if you want to, you can liberalise the country in around 3 hours... I've definitely done it under 5 (wasn't timing myself, but I managed a run between dinnertime and 2am.) So... shorter playtime = more playthroughs. = longer high score list. Right?

I feel rather sad when I finish an LCS run and I realise that it will be as if that incarnation of the LCS never existed. Boo...

Yeah, I wish you had fought on instead of trying to run away at the end. Oh well...

Er... so what's that coding mean? Does it mean that we get to have the Zombie News Anchor or not?

Corpses are near semi-magical. I once had my founder grab a corpse... who he continued dragging even as the corpse went got "head blasted apart", "arm ripped off", "leg ripped off", "blown in half" etc etc.... FUNNY. Maybe it was just luck, but the corpse got really REALLY chewed up... and my founder maintained only Lightly Wounded. Hilarious!

Aren't even corpses counted as hostages?

Mithril Mail? You are an evil evil man Grimith. lol.
And 10 in health, agility and strength... only to go out in his first battle with a DS? SOB!!!
How could you even consider running from an honorable 1v1? I'm glad you didn't!

I just made up like the most difficult challenge which is still doable. Liberal Arson Squad. Only allowed to effect the issues through Arson and through killing conservatives with flamethrowers and molotovs. This is NEAR IMPOSSIBLE, since those are suicidal weapons.

Your founder actually receives 1/4 damage, so he's VERY useful in the field. Give him 1000 juice,  20 health, some Heavy Body Armor from a Hardened Veteran, and he's near immortal.
