The concept. The issues make the game unique and different from other roguelikes.

Combat is quick and simple and fun, which is why so many let's plays are so violence centric.

The freedom in which you can choose almost endless combinations of playstyle.

I like winning the game. Gives me a feeling of success.

And does smashing their safe house restore them to Mode 1?

What does "we didn't start the fire" do? It makes the CCS active from the start, and puts them automatically into mode 2? Or mode 3 or 4? I'm basing off this:

"Right now the CCS can't kidnap your people or siege your safehouses. While progress is slow on the next release, as I have other pressing things to do, there's untested code in place to allow the CCS to attack your safehouse, starting an average of 2 years after they first appear. They will progress through four stages of strength:

1) Dormant. They don't appear anywhere, and don't do anything.
2) Appearance. They start taking actions and appearing in the news. You can find them around town sometimes. This will start after you've succeeded somewhat in getting Liberalism more dominant.
3) Attacks. They start ambushing your site action teams as you leave sites. This will start, on average, 12 months after they start doing site actions, but it's random, and can be sooner or later than that. This isn't something you can do to them yet, but eventually I hope to allow you to have squads assigned to patrol parts of town in cars, as a way of responding to any events they stumble across in those areas.
4) Sieges. They start to attack your safehouses. If they succeed in an attack on one of your upgradable permanent safehouses (not homeless shelter or apartment), or a former CCS safehouse, they will capture it, and turn it into an Enemy Safe House until you take it back. You won't need sleepers or maps to know about these sites, they'll be permanently known to you, because they used to be yours. This starts an average of 12 months after they start ambushing your site action teams.
5) Defeated. They cease operations of all forms, permanently. This happens after you capture their last base of operations."

Does this still even apply?

No, I mean, you try to march into the radio station in REAL LIFE and take over the mic for an hour and see what happens to you...

You don't get hordes of angry listeners in the game... if you fail the roll, the security surround the stage and try to kill you. (IIRC. I *AM* right, right?)

Curses / Re: How should we affect the Military Spending Issue?
« on: March 06, 2010, 06:33:54 am »
Currently the Fire Station doesn't affect any issue, right? And the only time the firemen are interesting is during arch conservative times when they all get flamethrowers. (which makes no sense) (neither does a lot of LCS... duh...)
Anyhow, an army base sounds good. Put it back, why not?

Curses / Re: Sleeper Actions
« on: March 06, 2010, 06:22:14 am »
When a person have low Infiliration, he is less effecftive at promoting either Conservatism or Liberalism. So, if he promotes Conservatives at low Infliration, he'll damage the issues less than if he promote Liberalism at High Infliration.

The infliration system does help to explain why Sleepers are, in fact, Sleepers, and not regular LCS members who don't have to commit crimes. They are
not supposed to totally support your cause 100% of time publically, they have to have some sort of Cover ID, and Spouting Conservativism is a simulation of that.

That's still 3 steps forward, 2 steps back. Regardless, it would make the whole sleeper process very micro manage intensive, and very irritating if you want to optimise your sleeper effectiveness. Having to tell every single sleeper to switch from conservatism to liberalism and back again on the 1st of every month would be IRRITATING.

Also, that does not simulate reality very well. There's a famous Radio Personality, January-April, he is spouting conservatism (until his effectiveness hits 100%). May, he turns arch-liberal on the air. June, he goes conservative again. July, he tells everyone how liberalism is utopia. August, Liberalism is EVIL.
Er... no. Everyone would just think he'd gone mad and stop listening to him or something.

So, no, I don't think that this "liberalism lowers infiltration", "conservatism raises it again" is a good idea. It's only makes sense if you use "infiltration starts low",  "conservatism raises infiltration", "liberalism does not drop infiltration". Then what you do is you have someone sneak in, he slowly slowly inserts himself into a trusted position by false loyalty, then once in position he STRIKES. That's what a realy sleeper  should be like, not a wishy washy flip flops and stuff...

278
You might as well just set your sleepers to promote liberalism, since effectiveness doesn't go up in the current version.

Oh? You try doing that and see if you get arrested, then! It's not like you've got an alloted time slot on tv/radio...

Currently my record is 4 years 2 months... 2 games ended then. I guess it has to do with the dates of elections and propositions? Anyhow, was wondering what the fastest time possible is.

Nah, this doesn't sound too bad. I mean some people have won the game with one AK-47 squad, right? so once you kidnap and enlighten 6 agents, you're all set.

prague, what is your 100% method for enlightenment? Do you mean 100% certain that you convert them before the kidnapping is reported, or 100% you convert them before they die or something? Cause plain old wearing a clown suit and feeding them drugs will convert them, eventually.

...nearly hit me with a SMG. Seriously, where had he been hiding that? I shouldn't have been surprised, yet I found myself momentarily flummoxed. The gun laws were so lax that any citizen in his right mind could carry such weaponry, even in such a peaceful place as the park, and unleash it at the slightest hint of need. Clearly, the jogger would be claiming self-defence in this one.

That's a 9mm semiauto, a PISTOL, not an SMG. The only SMG is the MP5.

Better equipment management. I'm happy with a lot of the updates (namely that you can pawn equipment without equipping you dudes with all the loot AND how extra equipment not just goes back to the stockpile so you don't have "squad equipment" anymore.)

However, one thing that irritates me is that in order to manage the equipment of my "non-active liberals" (i.e. the ones not in squads) I have to put them in a squad first.

Yes, another problem is that sometimes equipment is broken up into many groups of the same thing. For instance, when I press E button, I can see Clothes x 10, clothes x 5, Clothes (b) x 3... better if they grouped together.

Even more irritating is R-8... after killing off 3 raids on my safehouse, I had thousands of rifle clips. And when I pressed R-8 to shift them, there were 4 pages of rifle clips!!!
That was bad. Group them into 1 group, please.
