There's a "Space Thunder" event going on, which means, yes, there's battles in space. Given that I jumped in blind with no idea of what I'm getting into, I placed 4th on the winning team.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

About halfway through the second year. First, and so far only, mood was a fey armorer, so hells yeah to that. I've largely set up automated smelting and fuel production via manager queues.

Damn near killed the entire fort by forgetting to set the stills on constant production. When a large migrant wave hit, I noticed the booze stocks were about a dozen drinks. I kinda forgot about that... for a while. Then I noticed a number of !dwarves!, some even going to the murky pond outside.

Started a new fort. Excellent site, has iron, coal, copper, silver, excessive trees, and according to the site preview, flux below. What it did't tell me was the light aquifer(a known bug). Took half the year to punch through and seal it off so it stopped leaking. The bottleneck was getting the expedition leader to make stone blocks quickly enough.

First dwarven caravan, and at the bottom of the trade goods list, I see a scroll:

Quote
The Lever: A Quandary(copy). This is a draltha parchment scroll. The rollers are made from garnierite. Written on the item is a manual entitled The Lever: A Quandary, authored by Zuglar Nutbolt. It concerns the construction and use of a lever. The writing has a hint of viciousness to it. Overall, the prose is amateurish at best.

I.e., it's the DF player's guide to use a lever to kill stuff.

For VR, there's ZomDay, an arcadey zombie shooter, that just released from Early Access and is on sale for about $6. Fairly fun once you get past the Engrish translation(it's a Chinese dev) and sort-of-awkward-at-first controls. My biggest gripe so far is that when utilizing a two-handed grip on a gun, if you want to release your grip you have to move your off-hand pretty far away to before it will un-snap from the gun.

Found a very nice combination of Hollow Egg and Explosion of Brimstone, giving me a long range bomb effect with no limit. I also had Fire Immunity which means I was less likely to harm myself with it. I picked up several health increases throughout the first two levels.

So naturally, the first thing that happens after this is I get knocked into electrified water and die instantly.

Had a pretty decent start as a Weaponsmith. Got a pretty good wicked mithril warhammer from Heir. Got the Healing skill from Jharod. Nearly starved to death traveling to the main dungeon but made it to the Arena(which has food sellers) just in time.

Got ganged up on by some dark elven sorceress and her swarm of summoned spiders in the Big Room below the arena, and got eaten alive.

A few deaths:

Accidentally backed out of a high window and fell to my death during Live With Killbane. In my (flimsy) defense, I was distracted by one of the Decker Specialists while she was sliding on her knees and leaning back. Truly, one of her deadliest moves that doesn't involve a hammer.

Had to retry several times the hard version of the Snatch activity in the NW sector of the city, due to the escortees' non-understanding of "get in the goddamned car". Said activity automatically maxes out your aggression level with the Deckers the moment you attack them or approach any of the targets; this results in the disconcertingly-fast arrival of multiple SUV-loads of tween edgelords dual-wielding SMGs from all directions. Sometimes, they'll have Specialists or Brutes(oftentimes with miniguns or flamers) hitched to the back. Consequently, I'd prefer to get the hell out of there quickly.

Not me except dying a little inside, doing the final mission, Three Way, fighting my way up the statue. Going up the statue, there's three random Saint mooks you can untie and have backing you up. I get up to the top level of the scaffolding and yeet the last of the bombs off the statue, but a minor error in the mission script made me run back to a previous waypoint(the game didn't register me as passing the waypoint because I passed around it).

After touching the waypoint, the game realized I had finished clearing the bombs and directed me to the final portion of the mission. As soon as I turned around, I saw about about 10 STAG troopers standing over the dead bodies of the three Saints who were backing me up. When the game triggers the objective after clearing the bombs, it also dismisses your followers, meaning they instantly lose all homie bonuses, such as improved health and more importantly the ability to be revived. Just one last kick in the balls by STAG before I kill off their second-in-command, I suppose. Those guys needed a hero, too.

Could be a bug? Getting Healing from Kranf does give corruption and removes your head slot, but it shouldn't be permanent/recurring.

Welp, I tried logging in after I guess half a year of not playing, only to find that after a forced password reset error'd out my account is banned. No reason given. So, yeah, fuck these guys and I hope they all get sick and die.

EDIT: Welp, the above is no longer applicable. When I had my username sent to my email, it sent two usernames. Again, I have no idea why there were two, but I assumed both were tied to the same account. They weren't. One was banned, the other is not it seems.

Looking what's changed in the past several months, it seem like being part of an outfit(this game's version of guild/clan) is almost a requirement now to get anything done.

Molochs are supposed to slow. Like, really slow. Base speed of 60, whereas a PC will usually have, if I remember correctly, a base speed of 100. They also hit like a goddamn freight train, and have a very high PV. Hilariously, a Weaponsmith PC can make an obscene amount of eternium out of one of their 15000s armors... if they can somehow lug it to a forge.

Might be quicklings you're thinking of, which are the exact opposite - super fast, near-impossible to hit, but dies pretty easy when actually struck.

Where you taking the temperature, bud? A degree lower isn't unusual in armpits or the roof of the mouth.

First one was oral, second was ear. I put the oral one under the tongue, but it's an awkwardly flexible probe so I'm not sure I'm putting it in the correct part of my under-tongue.

Paranoid asshole stepdad is now making everyone at home take temperature. Given that I've been stuck inside for almost a week now, everyone else even longer, and nobody has had any reasonable possible contact with possible infected for even longer than that, I think this is pretty unreasonable. That said, two different thermometers have also given me a surprisingly low body temperature: 97.6°F for one* and 98.2°F for the other.

Was informed one of the neighborhoods right near home was under attack by the Ballas. I race there, but my car catches fire. I try to ram it right at the group of Ballas trying to kill them in the explosion, but for some reason I can't bail, resulting me being killed instead. Since I had just done a fairly irritating mission, I didn't simply reload the save.

After that: the mission was going well, three of the Vagos were down and Smoke was getting hits on the fourth. Then I got clipped between the train I was chasing and one coming the other way. Lost half my health and the bike was dragged by the Vagos' train a good distance. Right as I recovered the bike, it happened.

"All you had to do was follow the train, CJ!"

The company just shut down every North American store for at least 2 weeks. I'm getting paid for 6 hours(what we were originally scheduled for) today despite being there about half an hour, and my health benefits are going to be still provided at no cost up through mid-May.
