Play With Your Buddies / Re: Let's Play Star Wars Battlefront II!
« on: August 20, 2010, 05:57:29 pm »
I usually buy Garrison and Auto-Turrets first turn, and keep both available throughout the whole campaign. Those two bonuses are cheapest, and against AI especially, probably the best. The rest, except Hero, are practically worthless. Bacta Tanks' regen speed is too damn slow, Armor only adds 5% health(enough to stop a pistol shot at very best), Supplies is only good for sniper/assaults(the rocket guys), Sabotage can be very useful on certain maps or in space(if the AI uses Marines, who can't repair their fighters). Hero itself can be useless depending on the hero you actually get(map/faction dependant), in my opinion, Jango and Boba Fett are nearly worthless, as are Leia, Han, and Chewie. Aayla Secura is both deadly and sexy, though.

For units, I'd reccommend engineers as well. Their shotgun can be even better than a blaster at close- and mid-range, they can repair friendly vehicles as well as health/ammo driods, hijack enemy vehicles, plant bombs on vehicles and destroyable things, and self-replenish health and ammo. I'm not sure, but I think CIS Engineer Droids can repair their comrades as well, I know for a fact that the Jawas will do it. If you're playing single-player, avoid Marines. Even if you do go for boarding action, the AI tends to either dick around on space maps, often not shooting at each other. At least once, I could have sworn I've seen one of the guys spawned from a gunship actually fly off in it, leaving me without a spawn point in the enemy ship. Not that it really concerns me, I usually land a fighter in their ship, bomb their shield generator, then bomb the auto-turret computer, the engines, and life support, then bomb a few of their fighters, then steal one and fly off.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Considering what the rest of the comic looked like?

Anyway, back on topic...

...

What, you thought I was going to say something pertinent to the topic? I haven't played the demo of this, but it does seem interesting.

Certainly helps to be able to find the town center. When trying to take it over.

But the hours and hours of cutscenes were...awesome cutscenes, but WAY too long. Who needs 2 save points during a cutscene?
I think I saw one or two of Xenosaga games in the cheap section of Gamestop one time. I wish I'd gotten them.

I played a game. It's not particularly in-depth I'm afraid. :-\
Raiders are f*cking overpowered, too.

these games are the trippiest/best stuff ever.... anyone else notcie that link marries the fish creature princess at the end of the water temple in OoT?
That's actually how he gets out of marrying Ruto. He got himself into the engagement by accepting the Zora Sapphire from her, but they couldn't get married after she became a Sage. Possibly due to the problems it would cause with the other 4 women among the Sages(all of whom probably wanted to do Link really bad as well ;D).

Actually, Norman is one of the harder gym leaders. Normal only has one weakness, Fighting, and he actually uses some semblance of tactics in battle.
Normal does less damage to Steel and Rock, while nothing to Ghost, right? Ah, forget it, I've only played Yellow, a little of Red, and Silver. Ignore me.

Oh, and you can destroy items by attacking them, to answer the question made a year ago.

Multiplayer and pre-designed scenarios in addition to random maps.

Heh. I just designed a tiny, single-fighter TL1 carrier. In the process of testing it.

EDIT: Aaaand forgot to put an access to the fighter bay. Well done, me!

Is is wormhole-capable? If so, you've actually got something moderately useful. It turns a fighter into... a STAR fighter.
Wormhole-capable, and carries an F2.

Life Advice / Re: Strange crashing
« on: August 18, 2010, 03:18:48 pm »
When it fails to start, it doesn't do anything, no BSOD, no POST. I don't hear anything, but I probably wouldn't be able to anyway. It does seem to happen even while it's in sleep mode, and that's distressing. I sure hope it's not a failing hard drive, though if it was a failing video card that's even worse. I don't know why it'd be the hard drive or video card(hardware, the drivers might be borked, though) would be dying, I've only had them for about a year and a half.

That sort of sounds like what happened when my old computer's hard drive went bad. But that computer was awful due to being bought from Tiger Direct and having the most low quality components possible.
I bought the parts to build mine from Tiger Direct, but they've been alright so far. Well, except for now, anyway :-[.

Life Advice / Strange crashing
« on: August 18, 2010, 11:04:56 am »
Right, now my computer has started crashing pretty severely recently, at random times. Either it just locks up, or the screen goes black, or it tries to restart. Worse, when it does restart(either on it's own, or when I hit the restart button), it seems to lockup there. Worst of all, last time it happened, I tried several times to restart it, and had to switch off the power supply for a few seconds to get it back on.

This all started a few weeks ago the same day I updated my ATI drivers, so I'm gonna assume that's the problem. Any ideas?

You missed out on free resources(enough for a caravan, at least), and a some decent start-up information there, buddy.
