As for lack of bad guys, Karl isnt a true good or bad guy... depending on circumstances. Anyway, If the next world update/day allows it, Hes off back for a de-gunking before reacting to whatever crazy shit occurs next.

"Sergeant-at-Arms will suffice... and as I said, its classified."

Out of the corner of his eye, Karl saw someone set an inhibitor on fire... fire and high energy systems tended not to mix well, so he snapped his faceplate back into place just in time for the energy burst to momentarily overload his suits electronic sensory and control systems. Within a few seconds they were all back online, but the sensation of being trapped was highly unpleasant.

Karl decided that he had had enough of this situation. These amateurs were likley to hurt someone, there was gunk in his servo joints and there seemed to be little good he could do here, and his target had proved to be elusive. Most proably they had gone to ground when he arrived - chances are they would emerge once he was off the scene. He sent a message to control:

Mission SNAFU? Request evac and a clean suit.

Oh good. Well, I am a Physicist. So, anything that would fall under that umbrella please :)

Posting to follow. Tried so very long and hard to get into this game with no joy as of yet.

If I wanted to "be" a scientist (so art could imitiate life...), would I have any responsibility?

Same here!

Karl retracted his faceplate into the chest cavity of the suit. A human face might get more answers than an armoured faceplate studded with obscure sensory apparatus.

"Sent to investigate a classified military incident. Seen anything unusual?"

Bah, you don't want a Home Depot pick.  You want a REAL pick!  Something made of trifle pewter, and some hanging rings...  bone, yeah.  Hanging rings of bone!  Oh and some of those, those um...  shining bars.  Thread... yes...

You go down to the hardware store.  Not that Home Depot merchant.  No, go down to the store with the anvil and that old farmer sitting there repairing hatchets!  Then you elbow him in the face and shove that old guy out!  You've got a motherfuckin' pick to make, dammit!  Who cares if your boss is upset that you suddenly left work?  Not you!  You've got an idea, and it's the BEST IDEA EVER!

Yes, this is best thing to do.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, you should stop by your local animal shelter on the way over, and adopt a few of the biggest, most aggressive dogs they have and take 'em with you.  To.. help intimidate that old farmer.  Plus, just in case you can't find everything for your awesome pick, at least you'll have some super friendly dogs to keep you company, and cheer you up, right?  Yes.

Most animal shelters are an inefficient use of space. While there you might as well put all the animals into one cage and melt the others down to turn into spikes.

I feel the inhibitors shouldnt affect me, as I am not a super in the strictest sense of the word, just a dude with a gun for an arm. Heck, there are enough vulnerabilites in me anyway - I cant magic myself out of danger after all. Would they have worked on Abe? :)

The super on the ground was clearly in a bad way. After thier desperate request it was clear that the inhibitor was the cause of this. Karl held no fear of these as his abilities were the result of technological enhancement rather than natural "gifts". The unfortunate individual had been humiliated in a similar manner to himself, so Karl thought giving him a chance at revenge was the right thing to do: a few AP rounds into the inhibitor produced some pleasing spakrs and the tell tale smell of broken electrical technology.

Now for a return favour. His voice sounded metallic and hollow when relayed through the suit... whilst the supers in the area were not yet allies, they were also not yet enemies.

Assuming there is no ultrasonic or microgranule cleaning equipped tech labs in the area, I could really use a high pressure water hoze... is there one in this area?

Mandate a slade pick from your underlings. Magma will arrive.

Untangling himself from the bucled doors, Karl was angry. Not at the freak that had somehow used blood as a weapon. His anger was directred at both whoever decided to order him to wait there, whoever got him to chase empty trucks, and at himself for allowing someone to get the drop on him so easily. The "jellied" blood presented no long term damage potential to his suit, but until he could get the main joints washed out it was going to be a pain to move at any sort of speed. Getting hit by 2 thrown doors due to this inhibition to his movement was just embarrasing - a number of fresh scratches to the torso and upper legs would help him remember to be less complacent next time he saw the person responsible for his bruised pride. For now, until someone back at base could give him some meaningful and consistent orders, Karl needed to find a carwash.

I have had wooden balliste bolts seriously maim gobbos... then they bleed out. Silver and copper are my main boltheads, and they work well against bunches (common sense dictates this really doenst it), and according to the combat log (pun intended) tend to injure more by combining lots of bruises/broken bones and such like....

Cheap edit: too many poor typos.

Primary target not found. Stop and search all trucks.

Apparently none of those gathering around the unconsious super were the one his controllers were after. A quick search of the rear of the 5 trucks turned up nothing - 4 were empty, and the mangled front truck had contained the individuals now mingling around the KO'ed individual. It wasnt the first time the intel provided by his controllers was wrong, and the usual frustation began to surface. Deciding to go by the book to he very letter, Karl contacted his controllers as opposed to using his initiative. He wasnt going to do the donky work in finding whoever compromized the MilNet if they werent able to tell him who they were looking for and where to look for them.

Control: Search result negative. 1 KO combatant (WIA?), 5 prisoners released. Request course of action.

There was a slight delay in the response, and it wasnt the one he expected:

No engagement or search of trucks was ordered. Hold position and await further orders.

Thats all he needed: some greenhorn running comms...

Following his firing on the last van, Karl slowed his pace as he watched events unfold. He kept The Gun levelled and loaded with AP rounds just in case. The supers on the scence cleared the stopped vans, in thier disorganized and chaotic way. 5 trucks left thier stricken comrades behind, and an unusual wall of blades that burst from what his suit told him was blood disrupted the pursuit - this was moving towards Karl at a moderate pace, but presented little or no threath to him. Suddenly a fresh intel databurst dominated his consiousness - the suit felt he needed to know this urgently.

Priority One: Primary objective in lead truck

Filled with a fresh sense of purpose, he picked up the chase again, but this time Karl pushed his suit to match the speed of the escaping trucks. This pushed it to its overheating limit, but this would casue no lasting damage. He burst through the wall of blades which glanced harmlessly off the outer ceramic layers of the suit, passed the supers dealing with the already halted trucks and was gaining the rearmost of the 5 trucks. Suddenly the lead truck hit something and violently came to a rest, with the second impacting on is rear shortly afterwards. Karl could not see what had brought them to rest but also had little intrest, as whatever it was had given him the opportunity he needed - the first 2 were clearly going no further. A humanoid figure moved with some efficiency between the cabs of the first 3 trucks, presumably taking care of thier occupants as the third stalled just after the figure jumped into the driver cab. The rear two moved to get around the crash site. Karl, not more than 20 m away, raised The Gun and riddled the driver cabs of the rear two trucks with phosphorous incendiary rounds - nothing would be getting out of them alive. Passing the burining cabs Karl slowed to a walk and dailled up anti-personel flachette ammunition. As he rounded to the first truck, he found one super he recognised as the figure moving between the cabs laid flat out, and a small number of others looking dazed and bewildered. So, which one of these was the one he was after? He requested instructions from HQ...
