What do you think the first forgotten beast that's gunna come out of those Caverns?
And I mean proper forgotten beasts, not just undisovered local wildlife.

I bet it's a puppy.

The forgotten beast "Chilean Miner" has come. A giganitc eyeless humanoid. He undulates rythmically. It has a gaunt appearance. Beware its deadly odour.

Had a massive, hairy, dust-breathing crab Forgotten Beast. It beat one of my engineers horribly, but was killed in a single punch: Urist McRecruit punches the Forgotten Beast in the head with his right hand, bruising the carapace, bruising the muscle, and bruising the brain. The Forgotten Beast has been struck down.

Sometimes your dwarves will always miss the target. Other times they go "fuck it" and punch the target in the head brain

Everybody has novice miner and a pick, apart from my woodcutter with axe)/herbalist/trader.

the 6 miners are also : a stonecrafter (with bone carving), a doctor, a carpenter (with bowyer, tanning and leatherworking), a mason (with architecture), a grower (with brewing), and a mechanic (with gemworking).

i prefer to give these guys low skills (no higher than adequate), and rely on high skill immigrants to guide my development.

of course, the woodcutter is scrubbed in no tree areas for fishery skills for another miner.

by year 3 or 4, the starting 6 miners are all legendary, and dont need to do thier original jobs. This can lead to cave in related tantrum spirals when trying to make the caverns neat, which is not a bad thing as it is rather fun...

Throatlaboured (pop 164, 40 soldiers, barony) has breached cavern 1. plenty of useless haulers have been given an axe and instructed to harvest the precious wood... (i have abundant iron ore but no reliable fuel source yet... my miitary is steel armed but armoured with a ragtag mix of copper, steel, iron and bronze... i want more steel). z-1 is being hollowed out into a layer wide tree farm. z-2 will also be hollowed in the soil sections. i really need more trees. So far only a giant olm has been found in a pond (fishing platform under construction), and he is keeping himself to himself for now.

reserving barrles was my most useful find - forst used to crumble to a sober end due to lack of containers for booze.... no longer now a minimum of 10 barrels are saved for emergency use.

get harvesting... shadow the collectors with the fighter based squadron. leave the frigate squadron at the mothership for now - they are a bit slow to be on rapid response escort duty.

567: In trying to make your partners memory pen work on your laptop by editing registry entries, you accidentally remove all keyboard functionality by deleting the wrong file. The first thing you do is take a copy of your DF folder incase you need to reinstall windows. The next thing you do is stay up for 18 hours straight fixing it as playing DF with the XP onscreen keyoard just isnt the same.

ALL of my lil dudes seem to have lard, hanging pouches, or other fat stuffs. even the military hardcases... hopefully lots of fat helps prevent wounds.

A minotaur arrived. he pounded a nobody (bowyer) into the ground, before dodging some serrated steel discs. Uh-oh says I, time to wake up the military...

one damed bone bolt. i wouldnt really have minded, but it appears that they are sentient so cant be butchered. no minotaur biscuits for me.

Even easier solution here...

ONLY select the traning bolts with a T. DO NOT tag the combat ones with a C. tagging either with a C or T will make them get picked up and placed in a quiver, and used for any purpose. When an ambush, siege or kill order is needed, go into the ammo menu and remove the T and add a C to combat bolts. then dwarves will swap to ones that will hurt enemies...
